January 16, 201610 yr I have now managed to get my sons Rev3 running after a stator rewind and new CDI. However with the choke off the engine speed seems to surge at low speed,ie not smooth and consistent. With the choke on it seems to be a lot more stable, and when I put the choke off again engine speed increases! I have removed and cleaned carb, even checked inlet boot for splits and even removed manifold gaskets, cleaned and reinstalled, yet problem still exists. Any ideas??
January 16, 201610 yr Author I swapped my carb over to this bike and it runs perfect. So its clearly a carb problem. But what?
January 16, 201610 yr You need to remove the jets and clean them out. Mainly the small one in the carb body, which is the pilot jet.
January 16, 201610 yr Author carb is currently in bits, soaking it in carb cleaner overnight... Lets see if that cures it. couldn't see any crap in there though..
January 17, 201610 yr carb is currently in bits, soaking it in carb cleaner overnight... Lets see if that cures it. couldn't see any crap in there though.. A tiny spec of dirt in the wrong place will be a problem, you need to remove the jets and blow them through with an air line its the only way.
January 17, 201610 yr Boiling the jets in water for a couple of minutes cleans them up like new.Zap em with wd40 when cold
January 20, 201610 yr I'd bet on blocked pilot jet or crud in the pilot circuit passage, Remove the mixture screw and blast through with carb cleaner then compressed air.
