The only people that resist pre-registration are the ones that don't take entry to the event seriously and don't care if the event is successful or not, it's all about not wanting to forfeit the pre-entry fee. I'm not sure if it has inherent flaws or is simply badly implemented in the motorcycle sport environment, but at least it's not as bad as when it started. Pre-entry of trials is normally done through Sport80, though it doesn't have to be. Some ACU clubs stick with entry on the day and some use this simpler and easier alternative system: https://mototrial.co.uk/trial-entry/ AMCA clubs are generally enter-on-the-day, but occasionally use their own system or the Mototrial one. As Lemur said, pre-entry is much better for the organising clubs (Sport80 notwithstanding!) but enter-on-the-day is preferred by casual riders who can decide at the last minute whether to ride or not. Totally disagree with this. Club trials should not warrant pre entry, especially pre payment. Then clubs wonder why entries are down, some people aren't prepared to commit on a Monday whether they are free on Saturday, so just go practicing instead. It starts when you or you and maybe one or two friends decide you want to have a club and the first thing that person or group of people needs to do is fork out a healthy amount of personal money to establish a club and event sanction. Subsequently that person hopes that a sufficient number of participants show up and pay enough coin to re-cover the costs already incurred at the events that person or club builds. In defence of your opinion, only a rider that has organized a club and regularly hosted sanctioned events would know that somebody such as myself has already dropped coin to make the event happen. You are only willing to support the club and the event costs if it suits you 👎 Next issue is security and facilities where pre-registration makes it possible to predict how many portable toilets, parking spaces, campsites and additional support people the organizers require to make the event work for you all. If you don't want to pre-enter my events out of principal, believe I would prefer you stay home anyway, it would be much easier for everybody. Or maybe im living in the past Under 50 riders and ease of access lol Canadian trials events rarely reach that number of riders, hard enduro no problem attracting 100 riders and 70% of those riders can't complete an event. Long distance travel is also a reality in Canada that most people living on an island can not relate to, nothing is easy access here other than wildlife. Our local event does have pre entry, but you can sign up at the trials for the same costs. We have had portable toilets at local events for about 2 decades as the total people count is about a hundred. We are having a National next May. Already working on the sections. The Nationals thrive on having a real number of pre-entries, you can enter on site the day of the event, but costs a hundred dollars more! Security? You guys don`t live in the states.
