city trials Posted June 6, 2006 Report Share Posted June 6, 2006 (edited) I'm confused. When did the United States trials scene become a circus show? Here it's mid-summer and our pros are out entertaining the crowds like a bunch of half time cheerleaders at a football game. While other nations young and old riders are competing in competitions, our top pros like Geoff Aaron, Cody Webb, Keith Wineland and Patrick Smage are hanging out in the Supermoto pits gabbing with Doug Henry about a loose throttle cable - while drooling at Michael Jordan's Suzuki in Wisconsin or hopping over police cars in California. I can see our old washed up champion's of the sport doing these shows like this, that's what they are suppose to do. But our top pros? If even one of those people who took my phone number and show up to events, it was worth it to me. I would not say there is money to made in small demos like the cop car. But when you see the faces on people when Cody jumps a 6 foot gap from a spool to the top of the cop car and blowing out the windows on the way. It is worth the time. I am hoping to do the same thing for the 4th of July Parade in my town. Have a car drive down the parade while I ride over it. Just a little promotion of the sport. Of course all of my royalty checks help pay for this being a factory works rider. That money just rolls in, dont know how to stop it. Have any of you bought my No Jive Answer Boots. northernnorm Posted June 8, 2006 Report Share Posted June 8, 2006 The real motorized Circus act is the FMX stuff .Trials shows are a great way to get the sport out to people that would otherwise never know about the sport,escp. since in America it is almost never televised or advertised. We do a commercial on the local club scene,where to got to watch an actual competition ,where to buy a bike ,how great of a family sport it is and on and on. Every time a show concludes someone comes up and wants to know more. Even a guy who does motorcyle license training wanted a demo disc to show his class .
