Having said that, the Mont does have a lot of high-tech wizardry in there. It IS expensive compared to the 2-strokes but if people are prepared to pay that amount (and it seems that they are), then it's automatically acceptable in its target marketplace.

In which case..the Montesa would have to be ALOT better in my book...to warrant an extra 700 quid!!

Back in May i told everyone on this board that the price for the basic model would be £4300, as i had been relayed this info from someone who knew.
This caused certain people on here to start sniping and rubbishing my info.
So you can shut it now and stop moaning (you know who you are)

However, having seen one I would love to have one in the shed, but not in competition,my preference is a 2 stroke that I know oh so well. But thats personal. £8oo odd is too great a difference to make me want one, unless it is the best thing since sliced bread, the tin can and barbed wire.

Taking that it was an oldish engine ( albeit revised which i have always defended to the hilt) and granted a new chassis it was expensive at the time (compared to the other models) as it was a new model. But as folk got used to the bike and the idea it slowly took off and people realised that they were getting something a little different for their money.
As has been proven it is an all round quality design , and people will pay a little more for sometyhing that is good quality and a little different. Money isnt always the main issue , some people change their bikes a couple of times a year , so why not take a gamble , spend a little more and try to have a change.to a brand or machine that needs maybe changing less.
Who really cares?? We all know that in trials you cannot buy a position or skill , so dont get upset with the constant new buy bike boys, as it aint going to make em any better!!
Lads pay the same sort of money for mtb's ,with no engine!! so we should just concern ourselves with the cost that means how much we want the new toy the most !!
Whether it is or isnt in a box!!!!
