Clueless? I've been called worse, I can, Cope!

On a positive note, I think the green and black things should be easy to hide in the woods when their riders get off to walk a section! I wonder if you can easily turn their fuel off without them noticing?

Mr Kramit...There has been something deleted already and additionally Borus has some form in terms of advertising on the forums as he well knows. Neutral question, perhaps but it could also be a leading question. Borus has a vested interest in anything that's said about any of the marques he imports either positive or negative so taking his history on here and he opens a thread about a new bike he's about to start importing rings a few alarm bells.

Don't forget there's more happens on here than what you see.

Clueless? I've been called worse, I can cope.

Here's an idea, perhaps Borus could email somebody on this list, his impression of the Ossa and that person could post it as 2nd hand knowledge.....we get an impression (maybe a little bias...so what) and Slapshot can take the afternoon off from his censorship. God Bless America!!!

At the first of August I would have liked to shared my experience of visiting the Ossa Factory including my impressions of the "first to try it ride". The version I tried was set up for Euro 3 emissions and that was perfect for my intermediate level of riding. What I can tell you is that I concur with the reports coming out now from those who have ridden the bike including Nigel B. I think GG riders will find the least amount of change in ergonomics but the motor with EFI will be the major topic for all the new testers, which of course will happen very soon. In my opinion 2T EFI is as revolutionary to trials as the monoshock and disc brakes in the 80's. As for the factory visit I was escorted by the the export manager and visited with the president, head mechanic, quality control etc, etc, absolutely every facet of the factory. I was extremely fortunate to have lunch with Xui, the engineer and understand the entire process for the bike's development, the hurdles they must get over and the future. Everyone I met was gracious and I really think they were tickled at that time to finally share this project with someone outside of Ossa. Hope I haven't crossed the line here...

cheers

Revolutionary yes, as beneficial(?) maybe not.

If EFI does for the Ossa what it did for the 4RT , then it will be revolutionary.

The obstacles to EFI are 1) cost and 2) acceptance. The 2T w/carb builders can only slide by the euro emissions regs for so long. The true test will be in the "feeling".

Kudos to Ossa for stepping up.

Why does fi produce better emmisions on a 2t over a carb?

I doubt that emissions will be significantly affected by the OSSA EFI system based on

the setup I see from the photos. It appears to be an "open loop", crankcase-fed EFI

that, although it may provide better air/fuel ratio management, will do little to solve the

inherent emissions drawback in a two-stroke, that being the escape of unburned fuel out the

exhaust port during the "blowdown" phase/cycle where the transfer and exhaust ports

are both open.

Two-stroke engines in personal watercraft in California are certified as "low emission"

vehicles but they rely on "direct injection" EFI where the injectors are located in the

head and the throttle body modulates air intake and houses sensors.

Yea, thats what I thought.

Nigel, I hope that from a riders stand point the the 2T EFI will deliver to the average rider a 2T that "carburates" as well as a well sorted works bike or better.

Jon, we have not yet seen the homologated version of the Ossa and that may have a closed loop system for emmissions. You are right that they have not the solved 2T issue of unburned fuel escaping. Time will tell though, these Ossa boys seem to have good coconuts.

Martin,

The bike is quite impressive and I really look forward to seeing one in person. I can appreciate the OSSA design engineers willingness to work from a blank page, I know from experience how difficult it is, and also how good a job they have done so far.

I agree that we need to wait to see the final offering. I don't even know what type of EFI system they are using, Alpha-N, Speed-Density or a combination of the two. EFI is really a good system and I'm glad to see OSSA pushing the technology forward.

Well I got to ride one today and I am very impressed. I think it was a production bike, with perhaps a couple of parts which haven't been finished off, namely the exhaust and possibly the silencer.

It looks very neat and tidy very well made with top quality components and well finished.

the fi seems to work real well and everything works as it should.

The bike was brand new so everything felt very stiff and tight, but the suspension was plush and worked very nicely, never bottoming even with my lard ar$e.

Grips really well smooth pick up and it was set on the soft map which made it very docile reflected in the grip.

Nice. Radically different ride no, worth an extra few bob, probably.
