Anyone tried using a dt 125/175a gearbox on a ty from this I mean using the left crankcase of a ty and right crankcase of a dt so that a ty flywheel can be used I have the parts so was thinking of trying it. The only thing I can see as an issue is the selector fork supports need to be turned down a little to fit in the ty case and I would have to use each half of a crank

Greetings, I am starting the restoration on my bike and I would like to do some modifications. I have a complete TY250 front end that I would like to use, is there anything I need to do or modify? I appears that it will fit easily. I also plan on putting new shocks on it. I'm leaving the mounts stock so can you give me a recommendation for shock length and spring weight for use with the 250 forks? (I weigh 205 with my gear on) I'll be posting pictures of the build as it progresses. Thanks in advance.

Is there a way to make the TY175 clutch more progressive? I have the clutch extender and put in some heavier oil such that it drags until warmed up. Those two things helped but I'm wondering if there is anything else.

Hi there, I've recently taken on a new ty 175 project, she needs it all. The ty 80 I did for my boy last year was just as bad and turned out nice. I've started stripping the frame to get it shot blasted but when I went to remove the swingarm I got the standard seized bolt. Doing searches basically states the only way forward at this point is cut the bolt free and replace the bushes, bearings etc. I would be doing this anyway but I'm wondering where can you buy a replacement bolt? Or is it simply a case of measurement and order a bolt from anywhere that will sell a m12 bolt in the right length or is there somewhere you can buy direct. I did see a website selling a kit for …

So my 1975 ty175 will start right up after sitting for about a day but after riding it for a bit the bike will die and not start again for a few hours/overnight. If anyone has suggestions about what the problem might be it would be greatly appreciated!!

Hello again friends and greetings from NY. Hope you are all well! sorry to be such a noob...but i was hoping if someone with more expertise and experience would tell me if my slide is worn past the point of no return and needs to be replaced? bike seems to run ok but trying to give it as much TLC as possible while its in my custody! i recall 'feetupfun' saying the TK carby was really awesome and when working as intended is hard to beat, though if the the slide is worn it can run rich. however, im looking at $50 on eebs for a new slide but can get a whole new OKO carb from mid atlantic trials for $100 so not sure which my best option would be.. any ideas/o…

Hi guys, a quick question, the fork tubes on the ty are in poor condition. I'm thinking I could have them reground and rechromed somewhere. But I have been offered a pair of DT 175 tubes, not immaculate but a lot better than what's currently on. I appreciate the legs may be different but what's the chances of the Ty and DT sharing the same stanchion tubes? thanks steve

Don't know if plugs have a shelf life (doubt it) but my at least 15 y/o NOS plugs from the UK stock has dwindled to the last one. 'Ol Yeller has been eating them at a remarkable rate recently, NGK B6ES. The manual states the R version NGK BR6ES. I notice the TY350 Mono manual states NGK BP6EV which is a projector plug (different c/head chamber and bigger bore) but not a resistor plug. Now both bikes run the same CDI system which confuses me why Yamaha would specify an R plug for one and not the other. Ideas? Input? Whilst searching info , I came across BVM's website and their plug page shows a bunch of different plugs, none of which are resistor models. Surely …

This is my plug after one section this past Sunday (and yes I cleared that one). Sorry about the picture - it's hard to get a close up picture, should have used a tripod. The bike is a TY250A, running 110 octane leaded gas, Bel Ray Synthetic mix oil. Any idea what caused this and second how can I avoid it in the future. By the way, I probably have at least 100 hours on this bike with no problems. Changed the plug and it fired up first kick. Thanks in advance. Alan

I understand the Mini Majesty was a little bit shorter in the wheelbase than the full-size 175, and straight front downtubes. Are there any other differences? How would the Mini perform with an adult rider (75kg approx, 5'9")? Would it be too light on the front on climbs?

hi guys can any one help with my problem, I split the engine on my ty 80 to have main bearing and seals etc, but when it came to put it together the main gear sprocket locks up, but only as I tighten the engine casing screws, if I loosen them it's free but just that miner tightening of it locks back up again, it will go round but with alot of force, what could this be? Many thanks paul

Hi Guys, our club trial has a section that is around a tree then down a steep bank, then a tight turn at the bottom and over a tree log. This gets me nearly ever time on my TY175. The engine takes in too much fuel from the Mikuni on the downhill, and stalls at the bottom of the bank. I have ridden that section by keeping the engine revving going downhill, but there must be a cure for the Carb. I think the float chamber has a breather hole at the top, which with the bike pointing downwards, pours neat fuel into the engine. the fact that the carb is already angled 20 degrees down does not help. .

Hi Guys I was on here recently with a query regarding ty forks and you were so helpful I am back now with another query. I have stripped down the cylinder on my recently bought TY175 and found the piston head stamped with 68. I am assuming this means it has been rebored to 68mm. If so what other alterations should I be looking for or carrying out to go with the rebore. ie; should the jets be bigger and if so what size and any other alterations?
