Hi All, Got a bit of an issue with my TY175 forks (previous owner largely, seems to have been a bit of a butcher) anyway, long story short i've gone through everything and restored the bike, but having issues with the forks topping out. I have rebuilt all and assembled as per the 'fiche but when I try and 'hop' the bike the forks top out completely. What fork oil are people using and how much? Or is there something else that I should be looking out for! Thanks, T

Hi everyone,my first post i have a TY175 circa 1980,I bought it from a dealer up north and it looked ok. I have done a couple of trials on it and it's ok,I'm a comptete novice but have an enduro background, after the last ride I washed it ,not jet washed and it re started but was a bit fluffy on the carburation.I stripped the carb about a month later and nothing was obvious but it wouldn't idle and rev cleanly at the bottom,it ran ok in higher gears if a rode it faster. Anyway the other day it wouldn't start so I put fresh fuel but wouldn't start,,the plug smelt of fuel so i put the plug against the cylinder and turned it over on the kick starter and no spark,i don't h…

I'm out of ideas... Recently restored TY 250 runs and rides great until I run it fast - 3/4 throttle for a minute or two. Then it acts like it's out of fuel and shuts off. A minute later the thing fires and idles like nothing happened! So - new fuel delivery system complete - everything. Clark fuel tank and petcock, fuel lines, Micunni Carb, Boysen reeds and spacer - SAME thing! So - electrical. In resto I cleaned the mag case and replaced the harness from the Ignition side to the new coil, wire, cap and plug. I'm a competent solderer and again, it works great unlil it gets hot. I run 45:1 and have the oil pump blocked and line ports plugged. I have two guesse…

I have an excel tubeless rim I wanted to use for my 175. It's the montesa type with the flange for the spokes to go in. I can't find anyone to build the wheel as no one can seem to source suitable spokes with the adjuster in the middle like a Mont. I am sure people have done this. Can anyone help? Cheers Dave

Hi, i have recently purchased a ty250 with gold rims and white subframe with red fork sleeves.....from photos it looks like an 88 but the frame plate indicates probably an 85. frame plate 59N 001661. I suppose that the frame may have been resprayed/painted although the decals look original. The bike seems quite under powered from what i remember from 250s from my youth and seems to have many false neutrals...?. However i like it a lot. Am brand new to trials although have been riding 35 yrs....I understand it is 50-1 oil mix......?

Hello, Did my first trial in almost a year at the weekend and really enjoyed it ... my TY is spot on, aside from one annoying characteristic - it is light on the front and tends to rear up on hill climbs etc. I fitted the twinshock shop triple clamp which helped a bit, as did raising the bars 20mm ........ Not mad keen on doing the swing arm extension modification. Any other tricks to overcome this? I tried my Mates Bultaco, and that felt really planted and only raised the wheel when it was intended. I have put quite a bit of effort into getting the bike right, but this fault really has me thinking that I need a different bike. cheers Andrew
