My dad is sorting out his TY175 and we're looking at exhaust options. He has the original system and what we think is a WES system. This comprises a front section which fits to an alloy mid box without the extra end can. It looks similar to the system on the Sammy Miller site but the front section is not stainless. Does anyone know if these used to be made with a plain steel front section?

Hey everyone. I'm new here, but I'm working on my late uncles 76 TY250, it ran for a bit, then I parked it. Trying to start it back up after about 3 years of sitting. And no spark. I cleaned the carb and tank out nice and shinny. I noticed, my dog had chewed a few of the wires up. So I'm hoping someone might now where they connect to. From the flywheel case up to the frame. I have a black, yellow red stripe, and solid yellow from the engine. Above that I have 2 black wires, a blue and yellow with red stripe coming down from the frame. Any help is very appreciated. Thank you.

Got a 1991 TY250r pinky and i am having trouble selecting gears, 1st to 2nd is the worst, 2nd to 3rd isn't quite as bad then it gets better as you go up the gears 5th to 6th is brilliant. I rang Birkitt and he says it will be behind the clutch. I have had that to bits and all looks perfect. Anyone got any ideas what it could be?

After a shocking ride at a recent 2 day trial i have decided to try and get the TY sorted ! The problem is the engine takes ages to rev up its very very flat at top end ,if i hold the throttle wide open and let it rev its nuts off it seems to clear itself after about 10 seconds but then runs crap straight after .Bottom end power seems really good and loads of torque Things i have done so far 1) Stripped carb cleaned out and replaced little o'ring on main jet. 2) Replaced main seals on crank 3) Tried altering ignition timing 4) Altered main jet height for less fuel (plug was black) Any help with this problem would be very appreciated !!

I have a TS 250 with the motor raised an inch, I stil have the standard aluminium gas tank so the exhaust is too high, I bought à Wes muffler and silencer, now I'm going for the head pipe. I think the Wes pipe will give me the same problem as the original, am I right ? Is there any other options ? Guy

I've got a bit of an issue with my 88 mono. It has trouble finding neutral. You think you have it, then it pops into 1st or 2nd. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

Hi folks the laudies been riding (read crashing) around on a ty 80 borrowed from a good friend. Anyway the front wheel often appears to be pointing in a different direction from where the handlebars would suppose it should be. This being so I need a decent fork brace/mudguard stay or whatever? Anyone out there know if these are available or will I have to cobble something together? Many thanks in advance. Allan

I have a TY 1976 ( here in Canada sn 492 ) with a Mikuni carb. When I run with the throttle open at 1/8 to 1/4 open it run '' lean '' , I played with the needle raising it by lowering the clip notch by notch, but it does not cure the problem. It as a #35 pilot jet that I would like to change, but I can't find them. The VM Mikuni jets and needle are easy to find but not the TY model. Does anybody know where I can find them? Guy

Hi, I just got this TY175 that was given to me. It sat for a couple of years and the last time the previous owner tried to start it, it wouldn't start. He told me there was no spark, and that when he opened the mag cover it was half fll of water. I started diagnosing with the knowledge I have and information found on the internet. First thing I found is that the ingnition coil is dead, open on the primary side, son I bought an aftermarket one. Installed it, cleanet points and set points gap and now I only have weak intermittent spark. I will order new points and condenser, is there anything else I should check?

Hi. Just tried taking swing arm bolt out on my yam ty 175 to put new foot pegs on. It's stuck! Tried a big g clamp to push it out while turning and tapping and she's stuck. Haynes say it's common and you can cut it out and replace with new one and bushes (£60 on eBay) Any other ideas to budge it?

Hi, my ty 250 mono was running flat, had both my mx race bikes stolen so funds have been an issue of late but finally i took the top end apart and put in new piston rings, piston looked fine and barrel had minimal scoring Ran in the bike today (whether i needed to or not with just the rings) it DOES have a little bit more power but It's definitely still not at full power What could be causing the bike to run so sluggish? Could anything to do with the carb be the issue? It literally starts 1st kick Thanks
