Due to a bonk on the head or unresolved childhood issues with my Mom I've become inspired to screw with my 78 ty175 in all kinds of ways... There are not very many area's that are not getting messed with and we'll have to see how the end result works (or doesn't...) For now though I'd love some clarification on rewiring/relocating my new condenser under the tank or out of the Mag cover. For as long as I've had the bike it has run ok with 3 wires soldered to the top of the condenser. 1 to points, 1 to the lower/larger of the dual coils at the front side of the mag and lastly of course the black wire to the HT coil. With this move of the condenser to its new location do …

So after some light restoration of my sons ty 80 I've bolted it all back together , gone to start it and the revs are sky high , all the setting are correct , it seems like it may have anoticed air leak or something of that description. It doesn't seem to matter what I do to the carb it does not seem to make much of a difference, the annoying thing is I didn't touch the engine or carb all I did to the bike was a light cosmetic clean up can anyone help please ?

I just bought a 86 TY350 that's in excellent condition. It's has a Falcon mono shock and a aluminum silencer but appears otherwise stock. The previous owner claims it has a new rebuild but the bike wouldn't start. I cleaned the pilot jet and noticed the needle has a funny shape, almost a bulb on the tip of the needle. I assume this is normal? Anyway, after cleaning the carb it started up and runs great EXCEPT, a horrible knocking engine noise. I first thought it was the piston pin but after reading about "pinging", I now wonder if there's too much distance between the piston crown and head? I understand how to measure the distance but how much clearance is critical? Tha…

The headlight blew on my TY175 so I ordered a 6 volt 25W/25W replacement. However the shop have sent me a 6 volt 35W/35W bulb. According to my calculations the 25W bulb uses 4 amps and the 35W bulb uses 6 amps. My Haynes manual says the unregulated AC circuit relies on the correct wattage bulbs being used. Has anyone else used 35W bulbs? Is it that critical?

Hi there. My TY175's kick starter has begun to feel a little looser then before. Most worrisome is the fact that it seems to not "catch" or engage until very low on its throw. Unlike my TY250 which seems ready to catch and propel right away. Seems like the 175 only grabs and propels about the last 3 inches or so of its travel. Any ideas? Thanks

Hi, I got myself a cheap TY 250 s 1988 recently and I am considering a full restoration. The frame has a number of lugs and mounting points that aren't being used and I need a bit of help idetifying what is missing. To make it easier, I've marked the points on these photos. I've had a look at some images and I think #1 and #10 are for a removable rear loop. I think #11 is a mounting point for the original exhaust. The rest I have no idea, any help would be great. Thanks sam

Hi, Currently working on my TY80 and looking to replace the exhaust system as it's completely knackered. I'm trying to find out if there is an upgraded system that could possibly be fitted? Like the WES systems that can be had for the TY175 etc

Hi All, I recentley bought a TLR 200, circa 1985, which is in good overall condition, and starts and runs well. Can any reader please give a point of view as to which is the best fuel - regular unleaded, or higher octane. And do any riders use octane boosters at all as an approach? I will be using the bike for club level intermediate level trials. Many thanks

Getting ready to send my head and cylinder to BJ Racing. I have bought many parts from them but never had any machine work done. Also thinking of sending a carb and reed block to them for work. Anyone here had experiences with their porting and head work. They seem to be good honest guys from my parts dealings. Thanks
