I've just bought an 86 TY mono that I'm restoring to ride, it's fitted with a Talon rear hub and wheel, took the tyre off tonight to find the wheel is tubeless!......how common were these rims / hubs?. The front wheel is the std Yam DID rim which needs replacing, the rear rim looks in good condition if a little faded (gold anodised)....how much are new rims these days or would it be cheaper to get the rear re-anodised?...........I'd quite to respoke the rims myself.

Hello all. This ones just a curio and you'd probably think why even consider it but I'll ask anyway. Is it possible to but a Sammy Miller b40 tank or a similar retro tank on a Ty frame. Its just I love the look of the pre 60's. Iam legal on the road with mine and i'd like to vintagify it, alloy mudguards and a few other diddy things. I have banged me head a few times in the woods so maybe thats my excuse. Cheers Squid.

Group, I have looked at the pictures I could find on the Web but can't find a good 'close-up' picture of both sides of a TY175 gas tank. Would someone mind posting a couple of pictures? I'm looking for the steel tank pictures, not the fibre one. Mine is a '76, but any year will do. Thanks Alan

  4. Hello again. About a month ago I had a problem with me carb on a ty 125. The float was blocked thus flooding me engine. Thanks to various people on this site alls working dandy now. Its just the first time I took it out I had this muck dribbling out the exhaust. I assummed it was just excess fuel passing through the system. Anyway I've taken the exhaust off to decoke and there was quite alot of this treacle. Please tell me its not me autolube system needs tinkering with as I've looked at me manuel and it looks a bit beyond me. Cheers Squid.

Hello out there. Ive just taken the tail end of my exhaust off and thick oily juice dripped out the end, which was a suprise. I stuck a chop stick in the pipe and theres a fair lot of dung in there. Can I put a cork in the end and pour Caustic soda in there and leave it to eat the crud over night or would this damage whats in there. Squid.

New poster, from wintry south west Wales. We've just finished a full rebuild of my lads TY80 which took Dad rather a long time to complete (ahem). Anyway, it ran really well which was a relief, right up to the point where he toppled over on it and it ran for a few seconds on it left hand side. It didn't over rev just lay on it side at idle. While it was over and as I sorted the boy out, I heard what sounded like the chain trying to jump of the sprocket so quickly hit the kill button. The bike stopped as I hit the button but was now locked solid when in gear. I thought something had come adrift in the gearbox but now I've stripped it down, the problem is obvious. A small r…

Can any one help i am trying to renew the fork seals on my ty 250 twinshock and cant manage to see how to seperate the fork stanchion and slide. i have tried the allan headed bolt at the base of the leg but its just turning and i cant see how to hold the damper tube to stop it turning. I ve tried inserting the spring and rebuilding the leg, then also compressed the leg to increase pressure against damper tube but its still turning any ideas? Bsaweezer.

Group, Does anyone know if another Yamaha bike used the same shape/size gas tank as the TY175? My 175 has the wrong tank and I thought maybe the same year MX or DT might be the same shape tank. I have pretty much given up on finding an actual TY175 tank. Thanks Alan

Has anyone researched what the bearing and race #s are to upgrade to tapered bearings in the headstock of a ty250? If they are a common size that is available at a auto parts house I would not have to wait on shipping.

I just bought a 1974 Yamaha TY80 that is in need of new tires. Who makes the best trials tires for this bike? The bike currently has the orignal 2.50-16 Trials on the front and the rear has been replaced with an oversize 3.60-14 Knobby on the back (I don't know what the original width should be). I would like tires that get the most grip in the woods and damp/dry ground - I don't expect the bike to be in the mud very often.

Hello I'd like to upgrade my standard 1976 Ty 125. The original Rayer upgrade kit is very hard to come by but he still produces a kit for a DTMX. Has anybody out there bought and used this one? P.S took the diddy girl out at the weekend for a mooch in the woods and she's behaving well, I love it but would love a bit more grunt. Thanks Squid.
