I suspect that many of you, like me, are closet moon race fans. I can't get enough of the history of, arguably, the greatest feat of engineering in history. If you are have a look here. It's pure gold, all the stuff they gloss over in "from the earth to the moon": Saturn quarterly reports

<p> Hi Please can anyone help. I am trying to identify the bike in the photo. It was ridden by G Naylor during a trial held somewhere in the Yorkshire Dales during the 1950s. The exhaust looks quite distinctive but as a non motorcycle person I am struggling. My Dad is 85 next week and we are trying to arrange a surprise for the big day. Any help appreciated. Thank you PS Sorry for the cross post - I put it in the wrong section initially Quote MultiQuote Edit

If I'm going to thank him it's going to be for making a war film that I could sit down to watch with my young uns: Just like one of Winners favourite recipes you would need a Boorish drunk of an actor, a good German soldier, Bad Nazi's that can't shoot straight and an elephant. Whilst this Ricky Gervais interview stays in my memory:- Which is where it will have to stay ! I reviewed my link to Youtube with Ricky and Michael and it meant anyone looking through it would have been subject to about eight 30 second adverts....it's not worth it...their tekkin the peepee now. So I'll just have to paraphrase Ricky's quote: "...So, staunch restaurant critic Michael, how m…

http://www.guardian.co.uk/uk/2013/jan/11/british-forces-afghanistan-glock-pistols Hey Cope, What do you make of this, when I read the papers I thought of you. This is the pistol that I got mixed up with last time we touched on this topic. This is what you called a 'thick' not 'skinny' gun? It was bulky for my little palm, I think it was made of plastic and had a trigger within a trigger? But at least I could put some holes in the paper with it. Does your 1911 need to have the slide pulled back first before it's any use to you, like the Browning does? (I've just re-read my post; B40rt, I've given you a lot of material there for double entendres)

Went to go flying Sunday evening. All had been running well on the aircraft, then I go to do my run-up test on the plane that eve and it is rough, not running right at all on either magneto under load. Thought about plug fouling an such, reved it out a few times, then tried the carb heat and it went smooth as glass. Went back to normal with no carb heat then rough mag check again. Kept running at low revs for a while to get some heat into the motor, but no change on the runups and then it seemed ok so I pulled out on the runway and applied full power for takeoff and it ran rough again, so aborted takeoff. I had noticed a large swing in altimeter setting upon preflight, d…

Hi, I have a pair of 1985 monoshock TY250 Yams. Not road legal and only 1 has a log book, but have receipts for both. Obviously not mint condition and been stood for about a year. I have had them for years, but nowhere to ride them locally. They have always run well and am sure they will again, once I get my lazy body out into the garage. I have no idea of the sale value, so waddya reckon ? Also what's the best place to sell them ?

Does any one know why a stator pulse sender would have two wires? Normally in the small bikes that I play with there is just one wire that goes to the CDI box that then sends the signal to the coil to make it spark. I am not concerned about the generator wires, only the pulse wire. To explain, I have bought a new stator for my sons bike that is identical except it has an extra wire coming from the pulse unit, there are six wires in total coming from the stator unit, Five match up perfectly in colour and conections but I have an extra wire (green and white). Could it be for a diferent model with a rev counter?, should it still work without this wire connected?, The sh…

What a character, obtuse, belligerent, eccentric...and those were just his good bits. One of the few people who've met Neil Armstrong,Yuri Gagarin, Albert Einstein and Orville Wright. He will stick in my mind for his RAF service, the only survivor of his crashed Lanc (?) . He had a pathological hatred of the Nazis, so he was alright by me.
