Hi Guys, A bit of backstory first: I'm 38 years old, pretty athletic and as a younger man raced short circuit on a 600, plus dabbled with motocross for circa 10yrs- racing 250 2t and 450 4t at club level (and slowly. I wasn't great). I also rode a lot of street trials, becoming friendly with a pro mtb trials rider- I wasn't great but I had half an idea what I was doing. During lockdown my father restored a 1971 Bultaco Sherpa, I tried it and loved it. There are two trials centres within an hour of me, so I bought a 2001 Gasgas TXT 250. Hi ive been doing trials for 2 year now and started in beginners for first year until I consistently finished most trials in the top Half dozen then moved to clubman and again made steady progress But I've now swapped bikes from an 09 300 raga to 05 4rt and it's all gone pear shaped First ride on the 4rt I had my worst result ever And on attempting things I could do on the gas gas I found nearly impossible on the 4rt , mainly slippy rooty hill climbs I've searched most posts and asked about adapting to a 4rt but a lot of info seems conflicting Low gear wieght back no clutch to high gear slip clutch and blast it I'm finding I'm Worrying and thinking more about h…

Hello all. Fairly new to this Trials business. I mainly race Enduro or Motocross, but i have a few mates who take their Trials pretty seriously. After much trying, they talked me in to buying a trials bike. Their reasons being that they claim it would help improve my balence for Enduro and general bike skills. Turns out not only were they right but i now enjoy trials more than i ever thought i would. Starting Trials was the best thin i ever did! Anywho. My question is this: So far i have been using either my motocross gear or (laugh if you like!!) combats and an Enduro jacket! As part of the membership, we was supposed to get TC stickers. there was a post somewhere that said they was going to send them and was asking for volunteers.. Has anyone recieved them in the last month or so.. I would just like to publicise the site more for the good of the site. i do tell everyone i know about TC that is interested in our sport about the site and keep talking to a few members about our club posting results on the site, as by the time results are released on our site the next rials has begun.

I've been using 4" bar risers with my sherco and I like them a lot. I'm 6'4" tall and they really make the bike fit me better. I don't really want a clunky pair of risers on my sexy new Ossa. Does anyone make a handlebar with that much rise over standard? I've done some snooping but have come up short, anyone have a recommendation?

Hi Guys Sorry in advance for this thread haha. Well basically i have a 2009 Beta Evo 250cc which i have had for just under a year. I absolutely love the beta, it has been nothing but enjoyment and a pleasure to own. The bike has never skiped a beat or needed any work done except the usual bearings and oil change. Now that the time has come to change the bike the plan was to go for a 2012 Beta but with work drying up unfortunatly it will be a 2011. I have been offered a 2011 Sherco 290cc that i cant stress enough has done NOTHING at a very good price! The bike has been out four times at the most and just for trail riding, no competition use! I’ve decided that I really don’t enjoy competitive observed trials riding... but love riding my trials bike. This dawned on me as I rode between sections at a competition today... Other than observed trials competitions what riding could I do with my bike?

Can any one give me a ball park idea on how much weight should be added to a little motor that revs more like a MX bike than a trials bike?

I'm coming back to trials after a short break (44 years), so I have to consider myself a total novice. One piece of advice I was given was to go for a 125 bike as it would be sufficient power but not enough to bite me. I have a little bit of a reservation about this. Is a 250 really going to be that unfriendly (I'm well aware of the need to avoid a 280/290/300)? I weigh about 80kg in riding gear, so rather more than the average youth rider that the 125s are aimed at, I would have thought. So as well as having to drag around a bit of extra weight, is a 125 going to be too lightly sprung for me?

sorry if this is in the wrong place in the garage i have a big jerrycan full of petrol, and i do not know if it is just petrol or if it has been mixed to make 2 stroke stuff. being a big can of very expensive petrol, i do not want to waste its content or break my bike. does anyone know of a test i could use to find out if it has been mixed 40 to 1? apart from it having a slight tinge because that isnt so obvious. thanks

It apperas that Spain is on the verge of using Gate Trials for their National Championship according to SoloMoto Off Road and Todo Trial? confirmation by the RFME is the final step. Gate Trials was invented by American ( several NY WR & TdN) organizer Carl Peters back in the mid 90's. It has been used by clubs all over America for over a decade. The French and Spanish have now embraced/copied/invented it and added a complex scoring system and now the Spanish are about to be the first to use it in a National Championship. I hope that credit goes where it is due.

My club like many others runs a series of easy trials during the summer with 3 routes: Very easy, easy and hard(er). I guess the "hard" course is about clubman level, so there's nothing too scary. Until this week I've been riding the "easy" course with pretty consistent single-figure final scores but this week I rode the "hard" course and finished on 40 At this level (and for me especially), it's all about having a good time and sinking a few tinnies afterwards, but it's got me thinking: At what point do you decide that you either should be moving up or down a level? For example, the winner of the trial in question finished on 2 - does my 40 mean that I'm out of my dep…

Hi, I have come from a Downhill and Various other Mountain bike background. I am of small build and always ran a small bar width. The only downside I heard of on push bikes is less stable at high speeds. Is there any reason why I shouldn't cut my bar width down? Is this common on motorbikes? Thanks, Jim

Hi all, I need a new set of tyre's, just wondering which ones are best, think my tyre's have tube's in but not 100% sure as never changed the tyre's as i have only had the bike since christmas. How can you tell if they have tubes in or not? cheers Adam

I am thinking of getting the wheels on my 04 Sherco 290 anodised black. I have seen Gassers and Beta's with this done, and it looks the dogs, but I think this is helped is these bikes have red in them, and the contrast of colour looks great. Has anyone got any pics of a Sherco with black rims?

Following a twenty + years sabbatical, i am feeling the need to get back into beginners trials. My previous bike (which wasnt with me for long due to some crooked thieving low life ) was a Yamaha Pinky. I'm looking for advice on the following please: Choice of bike: I am 5'10 tall and 100 kg. Ok... up on my soapbox now! There is a complete bias towards off road motorcycles here in Australia and especially trials bikes because they cant be registered for road use. I dont mean I want to ride one on the road but if you have a trail bike or enduro bike you can trailer your bike to any state forest and ride your trail bike so long as you have your on-road motorcycle licence. Hell! You dont even need a permit! The only place you can ride a trials bike is private land and anytime you say any word with motorcycle in it the land owner says "Sorry mate, not on my land you might freak the animals", or you'll tear up the land and make noise.
