I've got my first trials bike, and I'm looking forward to falling off it. My last bike was a Honda Africa Twin, which weighed well over three times as much as the Beta! There seem to be a few trials clubs near me Worthing, Bognor, Horsham, Reigate so should manage to get to a few events. I feel that I really need a nice flat field to start with though

Hi Everyone, Im Vince from Coventry. Havent ridden a trials bike in years actually learnt to ride trials on a Yamaha TY50 when i was about 7 years old, then moved on to a Honda Tl125 which has been sitting in my garage for the last 14 years untouched and never ridden. Im 24 now and last week decided it was time to get riding again and restore the TL125 back to its original state. However not sure where i can compete or practise round midlands area. Is it worth me doing the TL up and using that or buy a new machine? I thought if i get competent again on an older heavier machine my life would be easier when i buy a new machine? Years ago i used to go to the motorcycle p…

The one thing I can participate in is our Restoration of a 1977 Ossa 350 We have been working on this since Sep06 and are just about to put all the pieces back together, I am going to make my Debute at age 53 this Spring on the easiest of easy courses that I can find.…

Hi there, im Tim, im new to the trials scene, just bought an 03 scorpa sy 250 to play about on and practice bike handling for the motocross and enduro racing i do. any riding hints and tip would be great, and maintainence advice? i just took the air filter out (which looks to contain half or wales) and cleaned around the air box and in the air box. ive dropped the gear box oil and put some motorex light oil in there. im a bit stuck with the sump drain bolt as its seized in and had to drain the sump from the side under the gear shifter, is ok to drain the oil like this every time or should i get the sump bolt removed? im going to strip the carb sometime this week and cl…

Hello, After being a rookie on a DRZ400 for close to a year, I picked up a 2004 GasGas TXT 300 Pro (for a good price) in the hope it will help my riding. I've always had an interest in them, but I didn't take the leap till one of my regular riding partners picked up a 96 Beta 250. Then after I bought mine, another friend bought a 2003 Scorpa 250. Now the three of us have to figure out how to ride them. Hopefully I survive it. Anyway, I've got a few questions about the sport, techniques, etc... which is why I've come on here. Hopefully I can learn something. Thanks in advance.

Well I finally did it. Went and got my first real trials bike. Had a Honda Reflex for a few years but got a used Fantic Section (ast least I think it is). Now if I can just determine exactly what year and model it is. The problem I am having whith it is an electrical issue. No spark. Is there anyway I can determine what exactly is giving me fits? From what I understand the bike had gotten fairly hot and wouldn't start anymore. It still has good compression and there's no signs of seizing. I can't seem to find anything on this bike and sure could use a mnual for it. Anyplace in the US that I can go to for parts? Mike

Believe it or not, I brought it home in the back of the estate. Lying down, front wheel off. Anyway, glad to make your acquaintance, hope I'll be seeing more of you now I have my first ever trials bike. Pretty sure its a '91 Beta 250 Zero. It's in a bit of a state but it runs... Screwdriver.

I've had my Beta for a year now and I am hooked on Trials. A couple weeks ago, with the wife's permission, I bought 4 tons of boulders for the backyard. So now I try to ride once a day. I have at least 15 trials videos I watch regularly which is driving the wife crazy. Anyways, this site is great! Tomorrow I'll try out the carb fix I found here and go for a backyard spin.

Hi All. New memeber to what seems like a great forum. Have been into bikes and trials for about 20 years. Not all of them competing though. Just sold Gas Gas and am extremely interested in getting a Sherco hopefully in the near future. Have also got a 1964 Bultaco which we believe was ridden in the SSDT. Has works parts etc. Still gets ridden around my parents property but is in great condition.

Gving some thought to returning to the trials scene. I started a long time ago - 27 years to be precise - and gave up when the born again road bike bug caught me. I have been attending trials over the last year as either a spectator of observer and although I enjoyed it. it's not the same as actually competing. Thing is, if I'm going to take trialsing up again, i don't knpw what type of bike to buy. I don't have a wadge of money ( kids at uni, etc) but I'm not going to skimp and buy a nail. I quite fancy getting myself a twinshock fatic or the like and then compete on the clubmas course, but will I end up frustrated with the bike ?? Also it sems to me that the twin s…

Hello. I'm yet another trials newbie, and I live near Boston, MA (USA). I've been riding street for many years, and recently started trail riding. Most trails around here are very tight single track woods with lots of rocks and technical sections, so it seemed natural to try my hand at trials. I just purchased a 2000 Montesa cota 315R, and was glad to discover a monty-dedicated sub-forum here. Anyone else here from my neck of the woods?

Hi, quick intro: Bought a TY 175 back in early 80s. Played with it and fell off a lot for a few years. Then got heavily into building and sailing classic sailing dinghies, which I still am, see: http://www.cvrda.org/ But with two teenage boys in the family it seemed like a good idea to go pull the TY out of the back of my brothers barn and get it going again. That got me thinking....and looking at ebay....so when a knackered nonrunning Cota 247 came up, I bid and suddenly had a new project. Havn't rebuilt a bike in 15 years so rather rusty (last two rebuilds were a Guzzi and a Ducati). But Cota is coming along....and my riding of TY is slowly getting together....…

Living in East Yorkshire and been into bikes ever since I can remember (30 years) and have been running a WR400 and CR85 until recently. Been MXing for the last 4 years when the offroad bug bit after a 3 week tour of South Africa (much of it on dirt roads). My 13YO son has decided that he wants a go at trials so our MX'rs have been sold and we are on the hunt for trials bikes. Current thoughts are a GasGas 125TXT and a 280 but we will see depending on what the views are here. cheers Dale
