I'm taking my 7 year old lad to his (and my) first trials event on the 31st. We've been to watch a few over the last year - but this is the first time that we are taking part. I'd like a few pointers as to what I need to take along (other than the bike and rider) so that this first event goes as smoothly as possible for my son, which will no doubt revlove around me being sorted - and having everything I need to make it a pleasant first time out for the both of us. ANY suggestions, as to what to take would be greatly appreciated. Cheers - matt.

Today i got up at 2.30am, got the 3.30 am ferry to the mainland, drove 250 miles to JST at Buxton arriving at 7.55 am to pick up new GG125. Left at 9.20am drove 250 miles back to catch 1pm ferry home, and arrived at 2.30pm. While i did some last min Xmas shopping AGIOW put the new bike together and it's now up and running ready for a steady Boxing day trial. Tonight and tomorrow i'am on call for any breakdowns for our garage, i don't know if i'am mad, bad, or just sad, all i know its that i feel a bit knackard right now. All for the love of trials …

After a year best forgotten, Chris has finally had the tonsils removed today that have been making him ill about once every three weeks this year. After a good start to the year he has been plagued with illness and the surgen said his tonsils were very strong and definatly needed to come out. Two weeks rest now and then after a winters training back for a full and hopfully unrestricted attack on the B class next year. Thanks to all our friends and please tell Joel Edwards ( D class champion 2003 ) to keep riding as we started in this together and he is as much apart of the British youth trials scene as anyone else. I Know its been a tough year but please don't give u…

just like to say bloody well done to jack, with a full page spread in todays tmx finaly giving him the regognition he deserves (and stating he's from ipswich finaly rather than norwich) you wont meet a nicer lad or more talented and dedicated one than jack, (how many other youth brit champs had a section to observe at the scott this year!) so well done again mate and good luck in the "A"s next year from all in the eastern centre.

  14. Started by yoyo,

Can anybody tell me what ages go against what engine sizes or classes for youths? I've two lads aged 9 (10 in Dec) and 7 (8 next Aug), and I'm not sure of what bikes they could ride on. I've had a mooch around on the ACU website but I can't find the info. I've just bought an aging Yam TY80 for them to get to grips with, with the idea that they can learn clutch control etc. They've both riden 50 & 80cc MX auto's before, but the boss is worried about them hurtling around a track doing MX. As I've just bought myself a 270 Beta, I was thinking that the 3 of us could go off and ride together etc. And finally, could they compete ok on the TY80 or would they need someth…

As been involved with Trials from every angle, Rider, minder, parent, organizer. coc, sponser, plus anything else the sport needs. I sit here reading the list of national date provided by the ACU to our club Scarborough and District Motor Club, we at sdmc have been about for a long time, 104 years same as the acu. Clubs and Centres will probably have received provision trials calendar for 2008 in last week. Please note we have made a balls up of the Youth A & B dates ! Apologies. We will do all these again - so please disregard published dates. Not and excuse - for we clearly messed up - but as way of some sort of explanation of problems we are having - and some answers for some queries that have arrived about allocation of A & B dates in general. A few years ago now at a well attended Trials forum in Rugby - there was a considerable discussion on Youth A & B Championships. We are asked for a better spread of dates ie not one weekend after anothe ( henc…

Looks like unless somebody steps in that the Bracken Rocks Event will be the only remaining round of the A/B Championship. I have to say that other clubs have managed to relocate the nationals due to the F&M problems and I would have hoped that a replacement could be found. As for the C&D could not Mansfield relocate and run the Trial the day before the A/B???

Anyone traveling to this weekends A/B national on the IOW can either park at Brickfields near Ryde overnight or at my place near Parkhurst, where you can also go practising if you wish. You will need to phone me on 01983 522443 day time or 01983 528115 evenings for further instructions. hope this helps.
