Richmond Motor Club annual Cogden Hall Youth Training School The Richmond Motor Club annual youth training session took place at Cogden Hall, Grinton, last Wednesday and Thursday under torrential rain conditions. Despite appalling weather sixty four youngsters spent two full days with licensed instructors Richard Sadler, Guy Kendrew, Ian Austermuhle, Jack and James Stones, John Sunter, Rob Waite and Matt Maynard. The girls and boys were divided into eight age and skill groups, ranging from four years old to twelve which were instructed by all eight tutors so they enjoyed guidance from different people. Each of the eight age and skill groups were trained b…

It was announced at the riders meeting at round one of the ATA Championship that 10 time national champion Geoff Aaron will be going for title number 11. This is great news for our US sport! Not only do the youngsters coming up like Cody and Patrick need him around to push them. He will also be a great foundation for our TDN team for the coming years as they fight their way up the A group. Face it, the fight to the podium in the World Championship group will be a tough one. I believe it would be a mistake to underestimate Team GB, Japan or Spain! One of which we are going to have to knock off if we hope to someday climb up onto the World Championship podium. Ha…

I have an older Beta 80 (with the cable clutch), all the newer manuals tell me to check the oil level with the sight glass...but I don't have one. Nor do I have a filler cap. How do I check levels and fill it?

Consett Club start their popular Wednesday night series this weeek at Knitsley Mill Consett (See Events section). This year we will be introducting a kids route. It is a short lap for the main trial so we will be using the main sections (probably not all of them) but puting in a separate easy route suitable for kids. More than likely we will run it conducted and move the kids along the sections. The venue is excellent (woods & banksides) and the car parking is literally next door to a pub ! 6pm start so come along and the kids will have some fun while riding alongside the 'big trial' cheers John

  10. Consett Club will be holding the next round of their popular Wednesday Night trial this week on the 11th at Knitsley Mill. Running alongside the main trial will be a kids route. Plan for this week is set up a couple of sections just for the kids, to let the trial get underway. We will then move to the main route and either use the easy route, or a modified version of the easy route. Kids seem to enjoy it as they feel part of the 'main trial', and also get to ride the 'big route' !! Come along - 6pm start and the kids can have some fun cheers John

I got the attached from the ACU which will appear in the 2011 handbook. It was provided to help parents who are planning to buy new bikes for the 2011 season, but the formatting isn't exactly friendly for the front page of TC so attaching it here: TSR1 Youth classes - Engine capacities -wheel sizes 2011.pdf

  14. With the cancellation of Seaton Deleval trial this Sunday and move the Butsfield, there will be a Kids trial running alongside the main trial starting at 11am. We will use a different area than last week, and as usual to accommodate all ages and levels. There will be two routes (easy/hard) so will cater all abilities. I installed a 70cc. Hebo kit to my kids txt 50 and it is incredibly noisy. The piston in this kit only has one ring and it seems that the noise is comming from the rattling of the piston with the sleeve. The bike works great though and I am not sure if it is normal all that anoying noise. Thanks for the advice.

Fifteen year old Bellerby trials rider Ryan Brown has been tutored byRichard Sadler in recent months. The slim quietly spoken Wensleydale Schoolpupil has shown all the right signs of being yet another of the RichmondMotor Club's rising talents. Top Richmond Beta agents CJT OFF- ROAD suppliedRyan with a new 125 Beta last week and will give him a measure of support inhis 2018 activities in the ACU Youth Championship, The Mintex Trial, andBritish world trial are all being considered.

The Results from both days have now been posted on the Yeadon-Guiseley Website. My Apologies for the format but that's how they were supplied. You can't see how bad the course was in this format unfortunately. Still I can say that the section descriptions in TMX were badly flawed. The Rain had been intermittant but very heavy making the banks soft and slippy. The first section for example was new for this year and how both Jack Shepard and Richard Sadler escaped without wrist injuries I don't know. The slither down the banking to a 3 to four foot vertical drop onto a rocky stream bed was dangerous. Especially when the boulder in the bottom was taken into account. The ob…
