Hey all I am going to look at a used 2006 Repsol 4rt tomorrow. I was wondering if anyone knew what to look out for when buying the bike apart from the normal bits and pieces. What price should I be looking to pay for a 4rt in good condition? Also is there any components I should replace with after market ones? Thanks in advance Scott

Hi all Could you give me your comments on the following please I have just bought a 2003 315R and when it is started i leave it to get warm before riding it whilst i am putting my boots on etc If i blip the throttle when hot it makes a weird noise like a knock and i have been told it is Pre Ignition and the Montesa do suffer from this, they do run better on Optimax feul rather than standard petrol. Is this normal with this bike? I have had loads of Karts,Crossers etc all two stroke and never heard this noise on any of them Its ok when you put it in gear and ride it. Thanks

Can anyone diagnose this issue? Got on bike yesterday... Noticed that if i rock the forks up and down... or when the front wheel is bounced off the ground (up and down) there is a metalic "ping" or "crack" noise coming from around yolks/head stock thingy. When riding i could hear/feel it most as i rode downhill... just the odd ping here and there. You can feel this slightly through the handlebars too. The steering feels fine - no notchiness when turning the forks left or right its smooth as always. I have checked the handlebar bolts (perfect) and all the bolts are tight on the yolk/forks. Theres no play in the bit bolt under the handlebars either. It was dead hot at the …

I'm replacing the left fork seal on my 2002 315r due to a slight leak. I noticed before I loosened the fork cap, that the spring pre-load adjuster turned but didn't click. I took the cap apart, cleaned it very well with brake cleaner and I still can't get it to click. It worked fine last time I adjusted the pre-load. Any ideas on what could be wrong ? Also, I can't see how the adjuster affects the spring pre-load, unless there's an oil valve inside the cap. How is the adjuster supposed to work ?

  14. Hi guys, after kissing lots of frogs i got my 315R princess I have been looking on and off for a couple of months for a cheapie but reasonable 315R and placed a wanted ad on here, and managed to buy one from one of the calls, which all seem to be from the Leeds area , 4 hours+ away for me so took two days off and saw as many as I could in the those 2 days! I wavered at times and saw few gasser Pro's but they all seemed to be just plain worn out, baggy and loose and as tatty as can be. Every dealer I spoke with told me the same thing, if I going for a first cheap trials bike get the Monty so hopefully this advice will work out to be correct. My Monty was only to be use…

Hi Just bought a Cota 315R and according to the manual the mix should be 80:1. I think that is 80 parts of petrol (in UK liters) to 1 part of oil (it gives the oil in cm cubed). First I don't know how to work out what 1cm cubed is in plain English. Is it 1ml? Also my brain hurts when I try and work out how much 80 parts of 1 liter is! Is it 800ml? If this is correct , and I really doubt it is, then for every 800ml of petrol I should put 1ml of oil. So for a 5litre can of petrol I should put in 6.25ml right? Seems a bit on the weak side to me. My crosser has nearly double this. Guess I got my math wrong right? Can somebody correct me and explain to me how I work out…

Like many others I have had a number of plugs fail. You know the usual missing and banging, stalling and refusing to rev out. I had tried ringing its neck down the road, contact cleaner etc without ever getting a plug to run ok once it had failed. In the shed the other night looking at a pile of seven failed plugs I thought I would try the oxy acetylene torch on one. Used a small gas welding nozzle with a very oxygen rich flame and concentrating on the central electrode and insulator (very carefully). The insulator wound up white and clean in a few seconds, thread clean up an in the bike and found it runs perfectly. Did all of the others the same and tested each one wi…
