Montesa

I have a 2000 Montesa 315R. The bike is great but the clutch action makes it difficult to feed power on smoothly. I was using Silkolene light gear oil but am now trying Motorex fully sinthetic gear oil. The plates look OK. Has anyone tried weaker clutch springs or even left any out? Havn't tried it but it was just a thought! Any help or advice would be much appreciated.

Just wondering what the average price for a second hand 4rt. I might save up fro one James

just tried to put the middle exhaust restrictor back in my 05 4rt (it was out when i bought it) can someone please confirm where i should be shoving it, i have tried as the manual shows ie. in the back box but i felt like it need hammering in, and it was cutting in to the lining of the back box which i didnt think was right so i have left it for now, can anyone help !!!!!

Hi all, do any of you good people know which size rear sprocket i can run, with a 102 link, renthal r1 chain. Currently, gearbox is standard 10 rear is 41. I don't want to go too low on the gearing, and was wondering what length chain the guys running 44t rears are using. If i can't run 44 with this size, i will settle for 42,43, as it's a brand new chain, and i don't want to buy a new one! Cheers.

I'm riding in a wooded and grassy area, so probably should have a spark arrestor. Any opinions on how much risk there actually is without an arrestor. Any suggestions on getting one?

we all know, the 4 RT is NOT one of the quietest bikes. To reduce the noice, we found a very cheap, but also very effektiv solution. You take a (in Germany we say) "tea-egg", drill out the holes a little bit, put it on the muffler with silicone. The sound is much more better absorded, like an enduro.

Sometimes I ride my 315 around our acreage which calls for more shifting. The tiny pedal hurts and wears boots when you shift often. Any solutions other than just making a longer pedal with rubber cover?

ive got to put some new tyres on the 4rt,i ride all sorts of terrain ,any one tried some different tyres ,thoughts would be helpful .also my spark plugs seem to be really black and sooty ,what do you reckon ,its my first 4 stroke so dont really know.thanks

My 4rt has burnt holes in two sets of riding pants and i can't work out how. Holes are on my right leg below my knee and above my boot The exhaust doesn't seem to go anywhere near unless i slide off sideways to touch the ground with my throttle hand. Anyone else doing this?

just curious is a montesa 314 a full trials bike as most trials bike i have seen the seat is more dipped also looks and seems alot lighter than mine mine seems a bit heavy and beefy just curious

it was the pistons that seized not the engine not a bit better news also my fathers mate is taking in to a bike shop to get it fixed as his friend own the bike shop so he will do it alot cheaper for me cheers for the guys

right, now ive sorted throttle ill tell you about first ride ,first thing i noticed was i felt quite high up on the pegs,clutch wasnt to bad ,power really smooth and plenty of it,i did have trouble locating rear brake it felt like i had to have my heal on the foot peg,bike did run away from me a bit going up a stream ,but it made me smile ,another suprising thing was the so called weight of the 4rt ,ive got a pick up so when it came to loading her up i was worried i wouldnt be able to get the bike up there ,well i tell you what it was easier to run it up the ramp than my beta 200 ,felt a lot lighter . i know its going to take some getting used to ,but i wouldnt change it …

not sure whats wrong with my bike its a montesa 314r and i was driving along today in 5th gear to where i normally do my trials and all of a sudden it slammed on it 5th and skidded to a stop and it cut out and the kick start wouldnt move it was like as if it was jammed any one help???

Could anybody give me a rough idea on how much a 2003 model montesa 315r is worth. The bike is mechanicly perfect but is not the cleanest to look at, has the usual dints and scratches. Thanks.

can anyone give me any help as to what the difference is between riding styles from 2 strokes and 4 strokes ? as i have just got a 4rt and my mates keep telling me i am riding it still like a 2 stroke.

Having broken the front mudguard on my 4rt, i decided on a replacement. However, on phoning my dealer, was told the price.

I,m looking for a 247 engine to slot into an original frame. circa 1973 vintage. Anyone got one they are willing to part with. Gearbox problems on the original unit.
