I`ve just bought a 2003 315 after having a 98 Techno for about 5 years so I may be posting in here from time to time now, instead of the beta forum.I still think the Techno is a great bike its just I thought it was time to get something newer, but just as reliable. A thing I like to do, as I did on the Beta ,is check all over to see where its been worn (not due to crashing) to see if I can prevent further wear in any way.My pet hate is the wear on the frame by the footpegs and on the swingarm, so I`ve ordered some of that carbon fibre lookalike sheeting to cover those areas (beta had plastic covers for swingarm)anyone else done this ? or used different stuff?? The only …

When the 4RT was announced, people were saying that the 4rt's EFI system was too 'high tech' and be difficult to fix .. and be expensive to fix .. etc etc.. And a year or so on, I havent seen anyone on this forum say anything bad about it whatsoever. Has anyone had any major problems?? If so, they are pretty rare! I think Honda have been truly vindicated by their bold decision to go EFI and looking at the increasing sales of the machine, other people think so too! Credit when its due eh Now if only Sherco had done the same.

Hi all , I was wondering if someone could go to their 315 or 4t and measure the frame thickness at the point where the footpeg brackets mount and the distance between the bolt holes , and from the mount holes to the center of the footpeg mount ... I have a idea to use some montesa brackets on my 240 pro to mount modern pegs lower and further back after the O.E. footpeg stubs have been removed !!! It all depends on the inside width of the mounting area on the montesa brackets... Thanks for indulging me !!! Glenn

To all 4RT owners. Is it just me or does anyone else agree that the rear brake pedal on the 4RT is made of pure CRAPPY alloy !!!! It seems the the slightest clip on a rock in a gulley and the shagging thing just falls asunder I'm now on my 3rd lever and I know some will say that if you rode round and over things you wouldn't brake em ! But hey we're not all Dougie Lampkin. With all the after market goodies for the Mont like Titanium pegs and hangers is there anyone making a decent Brake Pedal ? Calling Mr Ferretflasher , you seem to be the man in the know when it come to 4RT goodies is there any after market stuff out there ? Its just a bit of a pain the build qual…

Going to look at a '00 315R soon and was wondering if there are any things that I should look out for that might show signs that the bike is in need of a large amount of dollars spending or has been poorly maintained. Thanks in advance. Barney

Does anyone have any info on the Montesa hybrid ' N4A' shown at the Spanish MotoH bike exhibition recently? On the todotrial site my google translator won't work. Is it a home-made/kit project or a Birkett bast*** TYZ-type job? All replies welcome.

I currently own a Beta Rev-3 which I love to bits but is getting to the point where it's going to need quite a lot of money spent on it to keep it in tip-top condition (it's had a hard life!) I have the opportunity to buy a used (2005) 4RT and I'm tempted by the apprently bulletproof reliability and the fact that it's the latest technology and all that. Is there anyone else here who has switched from Beta? How do the two compare (for reasons that I won't go into I haven't actually ridden a 4RT yet)? What should I look out for on a used 4RT? All comments gratefully received. I need to make a decision in the next 24 hours or so....

The rear brake pistons were sticking and we tore them down the other night to clean everything up and get everything working right again. Split the caliper and used compressed air to get the piston out. Problem is we used a little too much air pressure and turned the caliper into a small canon. It launched the piston into parts unknown. Finally gave up looking for it today. Question is, can I buy just a piston or a rebuild kit that has new pistons in it? Note to self: cover piston with rag before blowing it out next time!!!

My 02 315 has an NGK BPR6EIX iridium plug. Took a look at it yesterday, and there's a little oily soot around the end of the threaded base. The tip of the grounding electrode was dry and dark brown. Is this normal? Need a hotter plug, or leaner jetting? Since it's ridden slow and easy a lot would turning in the mixture screw help keep the plug clean? Bike is ridden easy most of the time around private property, but on each ride I do open it up for a few seconds on some flat areas. Timing has been retarded a tad and carb has 35 pilot jet, 110 main jet, D37 needle at 2nd from bottom slot. Using 80:1 mix with Silkolene.

I'm looking at a used Cota 315. Could anyone out there give me any advise on it's ride charachteristics/quirks? For instance; I think the GGs steer a little bit better than the Shercos, but the Shercos seem to be more reliable. Are there any traits good or bad that I should consider? Thanks

From reading through the forums I seem to get the impression that the Monty's are pretty reliable. This is a trait that I like and I have come across a 2000 315R, ( Montesa's are pretty rare in these parts) that I'm going to cast my eye over. I was after peoples opinion as to whether they think this is a suitable bike for a beginner? The alternative I'm looking at is a 04 Beta 200 Rev3 but this costs a few more bucks. Any guidance or thoughts would be most welcome. Thanks Barney

Just wondering what octane gas everyone is running in their Montesa 315s. I'm considering an '04 model and wondered if 93 octane isenough or do I have to run "race gas" or ultra-high octane fuel to get good results? Your advise/opinions would be welcomed. Thanks
