Hi all, I seem to have a little problem with my 2003 Montesa Cota 315R. When I start the bike with the choke on, the bike likes to run at dangerously full revs until the choke is turned off. Is there anyway of adjusting the carby so this doesn't happen at start up? Cheers David

Ask Andy if he has any photos of the Deigo Bossis / Mitani Team 4RT's, which were pimped in anodised yellow. The new Repsol 4RT's have now got gold rims, the factory bikes are 4 kg lighter and can be re-mapped by blue tooth.

My 4RT requires a new spark plug more often than my previous 2 stroke Beta. By my analysis, it appears the iridium equivalent of the NGK CR6EH-9 is the NGK CR6EIA-9. Has anyone tried these? Getting longer life? Starting any easier? (not that I'm complaining...such a great bike to start) Cheers, Jim

I think I got all together now, the links should work. Videos I thought about doing a review of the exhaust system, but think it's better that you lot ask me what you want to know and I will try to answer the best I can. OOOhhh...I almost forgot. The videos with the original exhaust is with all plugs in.

The sales of the 4rt are through the roof according to Montesa's end of year financials - up a staggering percentage since launch and over 150 % more orders in the pipe than this time last year. 2nd hand bikes going up in value and like hens teeth !. the 2t fence sitters are starting to jump and early indications of montesa's 4t decision now paying off with the likely ban of 'normal' (i exclude this as a deffinate as fuel injection etc is a 2t option) 2t's from 2007 > .... VIVA !

It's been over a year now since the 4RT replaced the 2ST whats the concensus: Did Montesa do the right thing or should they have run on the 2ST for a couple more years? How many units are the dealers selling in 06 compared with 04? Do you think the indoor series has hurt Montesa?

Maybe save someone some embarasment. Having had fourstrokes for a good number of years and two 4RT's I still got caught out today after dropping the bike in a section. Bike fell amongst the rocks and was revving fairly high when I hit the kill button. Picked up the bike as many times before and but for the first time ever it didn't fire up. Pushed out of the section and kicked until I was stuffed, fetched new plug still no go, found I had no spark so disconnected kill switch and all usual things but no go. Got home checked all wiring etc including diagnostic tool, but no change. Finally found (after a tip off from our friendly importer. Tarp) the throttle cable had pul…

I picked up a new 2006 4rt a few weeks ago. If you have recently purchased one, you should check that the engine breather is venting properly. The hose comes out of the top left of the valve cover and goes up to a small catchment tank up underneath the steering head. From the tank, a second hose runs to the top left front side of the air box. This routing recycles any excess air out of the engine back into the intake via the air box. From the factory, my breather hose was doubled back on itself just before the air box, effectively sealing it. It wasn't that obvious as the pinched part was tucked up behind the frame, just above the rear brake reservoir. The quick w…
