    Cut Out Switch.

Yeah that is what I did, but be careful if you connect up the wrong wires it could get expensive very quickly! Hopefully you should be able to find a wire then try phoning up John Lampkin like I said, even if you didn't get the bike from them they seem to know everything there is t know about Beta's and they hopefully will be able to tell you if the wire you have got is the right one and they will be able to give you tips on how to get switch to earth best.
  2. Try the miniclip games at www.miniclip.com They are not very big games but they are good to play, you can buy the full game from the website but i did download it once free but can't remember where from

Do you not find that with a trials bike it is abit annoying to be connected to the bike every time you have to get off to have a look at a section?

I was going to do it up but i just don't have the time and i thought that by the time i had done it up it would not be worth it. I dont really know too much about engines either.

    Cut Out Switch.

Hi, I had the same problem on my rev3, I phoned up the UK importer John Lampkin - www.thetrialcompany.com, and they were very helpful and told me what colour the wire was and where abouts to earth it. I know it probably won't be the same but the stop wire on rev3's is black and it comes out of the engine on the right hand side when stood on the bike and goes with a load of other wires up the inside of the frame. As for earthing it the best thing to do is to earth it on the earth bolt on the coil. You can probably get more info if you phone up the trial company (01535 655970) and ask for Chris. Round here everyone reckons that Yammaha YZ stop buttons are the best to go for, I picked up an apico one from my local trials dealer for only 3 quid. Hope this helps

sorry, i aint had too many crashes, only my mates seem to crash my bike and because of that i'm abit reluctant to let them ride it. There are some quite good crash videos on the internet though. Try world trials then click on fiascomania2002 hope you enjoy and dont get an adware virus, i did (but not every time so it is worth the risk)
  7. Hi, I have my membership card and it says that on the 27th it is the Kay trophy trial, but it doesn't say anything about the venue. Will probably be in TMX nearer the date.

No actually, just riding about round the back of our farm sheds in Yorkshire, I found some rocks, and thought i'd have a go and everything looked ok, the rocks weren't big or owt and there was a clear path up a little hill to get out the other side. So off i went, over the rocks fine then when i reached the top of the hill i suddenly realised that stood on the bike i was almost a foot taller than i had been when i had cleared the section out, ofcourse i got a branch in my face and before i know it i was riding through a bush with my mouth wide open. I also had a similar experience when I let some of my mates have a go on my last bike (sherco), they all reckoned to be really good riders, first one got on and revved it up full throttle and dumped the clutch, the bike flew off on its bacxk wheel with him dragging along behind until he hit a straw bale at about twenty MPH and he face planted into the tank. I decided not to let anyone ride until it was time to go and pack up, I said to my other mate that he could ride it back if he wanted cos his TY was bust (again), He rode off and just as we turned our backs BRRRRRRRRRRRRR. We turned round and he wasn't there, all we could hear was screaming, We ran about trying to find him and eventually followed the tyre tracks which led through a nettle patch and into an 8 ft deep hole. Apparently the throttle had stuck, but it was fine when we restarted the bike. He reckoned my bike had crushed his balls and i should give compensation or summert but then I pointed out that he had bent my forks and that shut himup. sorry about terrible punctuation, im supposed to be doing maths coursework so in abitn of a rush

    How Much?

I was given a Montesa Cota 200 for my birthday about 6 years ago by my Uncle. The bike was in 'ok' condition but was abit hard for me to ride when i was only ten so it went back into the shed. It was there until summer this year when i decided to try and ride it - bad idea. It went very well for a while, but then the engine suddenly started rattling alot. The bike therefore pobably needs an engine rebuild to find the problem. Gearbox is fine and so is everything else exept wheel and swingarm bearings etc, t just needs tidying up. I got a new Beta at christmas and the bike is cluttering up the workshop so I want to get rid of it. Unforturnately this is all I know about 'old' trials bikes so i would like an idea of how much it is worth, considering its condition. I dont know what year it is or any history of the bike, but i have the handbook so i may be able to find more info in there. So... How much is it worth? and is anybody interested in buying it?

Thanks everyone, i went and got a tin of Optimax today, i went out today for about 2 hours and there was one small cland when i was pottering up the road and I reckon that came from the exhaust. I was pretty suprised how much it quitened the engine down overall aswell, and the power delivery seems alot smoother. I would have tested it for longer but i rode through a bush (intentionally of course) and filled my mouth with 'spiky balls', unforturnately some of the spikes lodged themseves in my throat and are causing me quite alot of pain. I will allways use this petrol in future and if I have any other problems then I will tinker with the carb. problem solved! Thanks again

By over run do you mean 'tick over' or when i shut the throttle off after revving abit.
  12. I dont know the dates, but the quickest way to find them is to go to A-Z listings in TV Guide, go to sport, press page up afew times until you get to T , then look and see if 'Trial Bikes', The A-Z listings only shows programmes for in the next 48 hours so youll have to keep checking regularly.

Thanks everyone, i'm off to get some of that shell stuff, or rather my dad is going to, thought it was better for my dad to drive abit than risk my engine. I thought about octane booster but mixing two stroke is complicated enough to get just right for me , especially since my mate ran his at 140:1 rather than 70:1 (accidentally) and siezed his engine. As for spark plugs i think mine is reccomended a BP5ES so i will try and get hold of one of those. Thanks again.

I'll maybe try abit of super unleaded first and see how i go with that, but I will only mix a tank up and see how that goes. afew people reccomended that on that other forum and i can get that from my local garage.

Yeah, it was the annoyance that made me begin to question it, I just wondered because my nearest shell garage is quite a distance away, I can get there on monday afternoon and get a decent stock of it, Are there any other petrols similar to optimax because my local petrol station only does Texaco.

Thanks everyone. I'll get some more shell optimax tomorrow if possible, and if that doesn't fix it then i'll contact you stuart 3871. One other thing is, is this pinking niose doing any damage to anything inside?
  18. I agree, you probably will have to strip the calliper down, but i once had this problem and after taking the whole thing apart it turned out that one side was actually meant to go back further than the other for some reason.

Thanks alot. I had heard that spark plugs were a problem and I am using a platinum plug which a guy who used to have a beta reccomended to me. I'll get some proper petrol as soon as possible!

I have got a beta rev3 200 '03 It seems to make a banging noise when it is running at medium revs but not pulling and it sometimes does it when i shut off. I thought it might be coming from the exhaust somewhere but i'm not so sure now. Sometimes it doesn't do it so it is hard to track down. I ride with a guy who has a scorpa and his does it abit aswell. I thought it could be the ingnition timing. Does anybody else have a bike that does this?
  21. I ride in North Yorkshire and I have found that the Eboracum trials are usually pretty well organised and the D-course is consistently easy but fun for beginners. Afew of the other specifically 'easy' trials I have been to in this area organised by other clubs have only offered one course and it is often aimed at the clubman riders. And so they haven't actually been as easy as they were suggested to be by the orgainsers.
  22. Hi everybody. Has anybody recieved their ACU handbook yet. I asked for mine on CD and it isn't here yet. A mate of mine ordered the book and that hasn't arrived yet either. The ACU told me it would be here by the second week in Janruary. What's going on???
