Did he put two stroke in his fuel ? Doubt anyone would ride a bike for 8k just in seckond gear.

    Slow Pick Up/flat.

It's fairly new as it is. Anyway, having took up some of the slack on the throttle, adjusted the fuel jet out to 3.5, put on new chain, new rear sprocket, new grips, I went and rode a trial today, and finally felt like I was in control, probably as well as I've ridden for a long time.

    Slow Pick Up/flat.

Ok quick update. I have readjusted the fuel screw to give me more fuel, i.e. just over 3 out rather than the 2.5 it was. I have adjusted the idle accordingly, however, I haven't ridden it in a trial yet (since I have adjusted it that is) so it may well have been running lean. The bike is completely standard from new, nothing has been done to flywheels, jets. As for where I am, Dundee, Scotland, and yes, the couple guys who rode it the other day, do ride bigger capacity bikes, bith have 280 scorpas, but I don't hold it against them.

Oh believe me, I've had the joy of getting the intake pipe back on the carb a number of times.

So is there nothing much more i can do than than to improve things ? Adjusting the idle wasnt great. I was wondering if changing the gearing or pilot would make a difference ? Both of which are simple enough to do with my lack of technical skill.
  7. While out the other day a couple of guys who are a hundred times better riders than me had a shot of my bike and both of them remarked on how flat/slow a pick up it had then just fired up. Something that I have thought for a long time but just thought it was my rubbish control, anyway, what can I do to resolve this issue ? 2012 250 on standard gearing and everything else as it was the day it was new ?
  8. Jeez, too old at 47 ! I started at 47, I'm 50 this year. Couple of "mates" are older than me and started a year after I did. My partner is 52 in Febuary, she only started just over a year ago. I think you already have your answer from the rest, but thought I'd throw in my reply also.
  9. Having put the old lever back on and seen how it is, it now tells me that she has bought a cheap replacement lever, as oppososed an Apico one. Despite them looking similar, there is clearly some sort of minute difference that someone with bigger hands wouldn't really notice, although a tad stiffer, but put in the hands of someone with much smaller hands, and it's very noticable. Will but an Apico clutch lever then take it from there but I suspect that is the issue.
  10. Though I have no0 idea about the finger height, I tend to agree with waht you are saying about the problem being at the lever. As for doing up too tight with the nylon bushes, that I can rule out cause I have had the lever in with and without those bushes in place, and also with just the pin threaded thru the lever with and without the nylock nut on.
  11. They are apreciated, though not sure what you mean by "finger height" ?
  12. As I say, it's been fine til then for her.
  13. There was free play on the lever, however, this is actually my partners bikes, and with having female hands, which are small, the position of the replaced lever sits too far out for her small hands. Though even I have noticed how much heavier it has became since putting on new lever.
  14. That all sounds a bit technical for me. Can you explain why this would be needing changed if it was fine until very recently ?
  15. Lever was bent in a fall, but as I say, the clutch itself seems to be operating fine, just much stiffer ? Clutch pack out of spec ? Also, can you explain about bringing it back to proper finger height ?
  16. 2009 125 has all of a sudden developed what seems to be a very heavy/stiff clutch when engaging. Nothing has changed other than a recent change of lever. There is plenty fluid in the resivoir and the clutch itself is working ok. Any theories on what might be the issue ?
  17. I would avoid twin shocks like the plaque. Nae suspension, nae power and nae brakes, other than that, they are great.....I'm told.
  18. If it's this one, I think it's over priced http://www.gumtree.com/p/cars-vans-motorbikes/sherco-290-2004-trials-bike/1042593060
  19. Oh ok, I suspect the bikes I know for sale are out of your budget then if you're going to look at a 2004 bike, and highland liesure will deffo be out you're price range. Couple bikes I know for sale are in Dundee, but over £2500 worth,
  20. Whre abouts are you in NE Scotland ? I know of a couple of bikes for sale in Easst Scotland.
  21. Is there any benefit or downside to having your shock on upside down ? Random question I know, just wondered
  22. I'm not a drinker, but also not the best of sleepers. On the walking of sections again, a couple years back I did a trial at a venue I'd never ridden before, I rode round on my own and read the sections each time for the first two laps (was only three laps) and is probably the best I've ever ridden.
  23. It's worse than I first said, I actually set out the section where I stalled twice, but it happened on lap one and lap three. As for the missed gate/s, it's not like it happens on the first lap.
  24. I'm starting to get very frustrated by what seems to be my lack of being able to concentrate at trials. My general riding is ok, but I am still making the same basic mistakes every trial, missing flags and stalling the bike being the main problems. Yesterday, I stalled the bike in the same section at exactly the same place, twice. In other trials, it's the same, or missing gates, and it's starting to drive me crazy. Is there any tips out there that I can learn from, as it's not like a newbie, three years I've been at this now.
