Motegi 2004.
Japanese opening round of the world championship.
First official release of the replacement bike of the Montesa 315R.
The prototype of the RTL250F is presented to the public.
Tomoyuki Ogawa will finish 9th.
The legend of the 4RT is on the way.
Here, I will show you my replica.
It's a 2006 4rt.
I was able to contact "Gatti"(T.Ogawa nickname)
He saw the first photos of the restoration and appreciated this approach.
While emphasizing that this motorcycle represented the beginning of the adventure.
Adventure during which he piled up the Japanese championship titles on his handlebars.
I asked him some questions about this bike regarding the tire brand (Dunlop) and more.
The bike is 95% finish.
I have the tank stickers and I will refresh the shock.
Historically the after market pipes are a bigger diameter than standard and soften off the bottom end and give more torque - and are marginally lighter 🤔 and look nice 👍
On the 250 /260 engine would say they are an improvement for clubman riders
How much only you say 🤔👍
I have a Ti Mitani front pipe on my 250 4RT and it's a thing of beauty and weighs a lot less than the Honda oem front pipe
I love the blue colour, it has turned and makes me happy
Had this with mine over the weekend, a mechanic serviced it last week and went through it all (valves/bearings/oils etc) all running fine and last thing he did was turn the tickover down as he thought it was too high (he's used to carbed Trials bikes)
Picked it up on Sat and he went to run it up, no start
Plug out and smelt of fuel, no spark
Put another new plug in, no spark
He then told me about the tickover, as his final job
Aha, turned it out... 1 fullout on the throttle body
I have been asked if I would stand for the committee on my club (happy to). One of the debates about the new ACU website was about the event insurance - so checking people are ACU members with a valid licence. With no plastic card this is difficult for the organisers on the day. One of the current committee has suggested looking at AMCA membership.
I would like to know what is the general view about the ACU insurance? Do people think they are insured whilst riding a trial and what do they think they are covered for? I have been looking at this topic and was surprised by my findings. My assumptions were incorrect.
I would welcome feedback on your views. Do people think you are covered (third party liability) if you run into another competitor and hurt them? You are not.
This guy claims he promotes the sport and won't even broadcast his mega indoor event that has been on the makes for months!
Probably gonna hurt a lot of feeling here but that's just fine! As a trials fan, I feel sad that one of the biggest names in our sport, does so little to promote the sport that gave him everything he has! No excuses, we live in a digital world of facebook live, tiktok and etc... If the dude that has all sorts of connections can't figure out how to hire a company to live cast a small motorcycle event, He is either super incompetent or he is only in for his personal gain! I said it once and will say again: He is as phony as his wheelie record!! Rant over
Have you met him?
I don't think you would say that to him, face to face................
Jitsie are recording it and editing it, it's available to their Jitsie club membership fan base
Join the Jitsie members club, then you can see it all
Yes, the roll out is poor and the timing not good and it's not easy to use straight off but for various reasons the old site had come to its end and had to be replaced
The medical is a questionaire like it was on the old site, you don't need to download the forms for trials unlesss you have specific medical issues. Click on the CURRENT button which brings up the questionnaire and complete the process . It will go to PENDING APPROVAL when done as the ACU have to approve it
Club affiliation, your club details should be in there migrated from the old site, to renew 2023 membership click on the CURRENT button and complete the screens. It will go to PENDING APPROVAL until your club official approves it which they'll do from an email prompt, after you've paid membership fee. Then it will return to CURRENT with expiry of 2023. If you use the ADD CLUB / TEAM AFFILIATION it will default to TEAM as you already have club. You don't use this to renew an existing membership
Same process for ACU licence and then Membership Details, click on CURRENT button and complete screens. It's the Membership Details category that has the link to renew/checkout and pay licence fee
Well I did it !!!!
Stu (from Ebor Club) emailed me a link and I tried it and allowed me to re-join my Club and then proceed to renew my 2023 Trials licence (and actually pay £20 for it) and I got a receipt from Stripe/ACU/Sport 80
Did the medical questionnaire & uploaded a new pic of myself and bingo, we're in for next year
I have just looked again at the site and my pending status. The medical is not a questionaire - it asks for a doctor's certificate but the downloadable cert says only if you are over 70. I also need an eyesight test for my road racing even though I am only trials registered.
The club affiliation is for "teams" and there is only on option in the drop down box. It is road racing.
The thing does not seem to me to work very well, indeed it doesn't really "work". Although I have booked in on our next club trial the events thing is not very good because the title of the event is too short. It said "club trial" and the location gave it away, but it would be so much better if the club was in the title.
It is a mess.
My problems too, all summed up in your post
It's a complete mess, without prior warning to riders or clubs
ACU - you failed to plan and thus planned to fail with this new system............without explaining it to the Trial membership and Clubs
We started at Surrender, got there before the first bikes but it was still crowded and hard to see much. From the hill top past it there was a good view of Roy's Rocks and of the section between the two.
Grand Canyon was really good for spectators and so was bridge end although the parking there was a bit crazier.
Glad you enjoyed it, nothing beats the Scott for a spectacle of feat and endeavour
I had a Godden framed 1982 one, a few years ago and I got it road registered at the local DVLA office
I managed to obtain a letter from John Shirt Snr that stated he was the creator of the Majesty Yamaha and the frame number on my bike, was for a 1982 bike and this sufficed as a dating certificate, as it was signed/dated and on JST headed paper
2-3 years ago I road registered a Yamaha TYZ and the previous owner had a Yamaha dating letter from a few years previous and I used a specialist agent affiliated to VMCC to do all the road registration paperwork, as it was damn sight easier to pay them to do it, as all the local DVLA offices are shut
A friend (with a NOVA cert and all the original Italian paperwork) registered a 1984 Moto Guzzi in 2020 and it came back from Swansea with 20 registration plate and he couldn't get them to change it, to a 1984 prefix
Now the local DVLA offices are shut, it has gone to pot
clearly we in our sport have a PR problem. results, reports, photos from events aren't getting out there.
back in the day you saw extenisve, wide ranaging and in depth coverage in the press (blue un, green un, MCN, TMX, etc)
in today's media landscape of high costs, lower circulation, etc its clearly a challange for the press to keep going (TMX stopped during lockdown, DBR is quarterly, etc)
do we the fans/riders/clubs/promoters/etc have to step up and provide that coverage instead, i know many media outlets (this site included) are always looking for coverage of events and we (whoever) are keen to see those reports.
i can't say i'm a great wordsmith, the thought of trying to write a report is really offputting, but many people are clearly there at events capturing the action as photos, video, etc so i can't be impossible
Not a problem with Trials media coverage with it all on Facebook and the likes of Jitsie doing their own media channels
Print media, is as dead as the dodo................it's finished
Twitter/Facebook and Instagram are where it's at and you can interact directly with the stars and 'converse' with them online
Blimey, it's never been so good for them to get involved in 2022, there's even classes and championships devoted to women only, plus they can compete side by side with the men too, on the same terms and an equal footing (they can't do that in Tennis/Football/Golf championships - it's either MEN or WOMEN)
At club Trials, there's a good number of women competing each week and doing very well
Compare that to 30-40 years ago and there were virtually zero women at trials, competing
It's fine as it is, at present and good on them............Emma is the best ambassador we have got
Does anyone have a spare 4rt silencer kicking around in the back of the garage? I’ve folded mine in half tonight and could really do with one for the British Championship round on Sunday!! Thanks
Bainbridge Hill Climb, strikes again..............😀
A bit obvious, but it hasn't been mentioned: a rear number plate.
One that has to comply with the correct spacings for the numbers and letters, be reflective and comply with Bsi kitemark and have the makes address on it too
Im Back ! Help on finding out about what trials are on.
