Yes, and they've got it out so quick too!! Normally it takes years to develop a new drug. The pharma companies have to determine: What is the correct dosage? How does the dosage vary with age, sex, weight, race and any other variables? Is it effective? Is it safe? What are the contra-indications? What are the long-term effects? And many more questions too.
I think I might wait a little while before having the vaccine.
I am sure it will be safe, however you made need top ups or boosters
Vaccine is the only way out of this, no other way talking to Medics (as I have been)
Letting it run through the population, would be carnage and to achieve herd immunity naturally via infection would take decades (and a new virus will be there to get us)
Unless we have an effective Vaccine - we will be in a state of semi (followed by permanent Lockdown) Lockdown, we will never get through this

I must admit that my rose-tinted glasses have been getting the better of me on ebay recently looking at ty, s and fantics, I'm glad you put that and I can imagine its exactly what I'd end up doing myself lol. A mid-late 00,s sherco or gas gas is probably the most sensible option cheers
i have dabbled with twinshocks over the years Yam Majesty etc, but they are 30 years old and are costly to keep running week in, week out and I find the TYZ, a decent classic type alternative, for club trials
It's well built, sounds great (induction) and goes well in sections and the suspension is ok too, plus it grips for England
Non engine spares, can become a problem, but generally it's robust etc
That said the 4RT is also a great bike (though not for all)
Pretty sure there was a statement before the trial saying that the six top guys couldn't manage to do both the British and the World (due to travel restrictions/quarantine etc.) so chose to focus on Trial GP.
I see, thanks for the explanation and makes sense, that they do the World rounds, for their sponsors
I see from the coverage on Facebook and ACU, that this last weekend's Devon round, had only 1, yes.......a single Championship Class rider and that was Iwan Roberts
What is going on ? (I know Covid)
The Trial2 and Trial Expert Classes & Trial 125 were well supported
So is this what the British Championship has become?
Too many classes, no blue riband British Champion?
It's an interesting topic. Going by the stats TC hasn't got any quieter over the years in terms of traffic (It is down over the past couple of months due to lack of news, but that will bounce back). Scroll down to the bottom of the forums and you'll always see a large number of "lurkers".
The main reasons TC has become very bike focused is partly down to a very knowledgable and helpful user base (for which I thank all contributors) and the work that the forum software providers have done in search engine optimisation. If you have a problem with your bike, do you go to Facebook? No. You go to Google with your problem and you will always find TC very near the top of the results, and more often than not the top result. It's the gap in the market that TC is filling very well. There is no other resource like it for Trials.
There has been much debate about the place of forums in the world of anti-social media and there is absolutely a place for them. If you want arseholes, self-professed "experts" on every subject under the sun and pictures of people's cats, head for Facebook. If your topic is of a more important nature, use a forum.
Interestingly, I did some research a few months ago as I was working with a charity that had abandoned their website and gone 100% Facebook. Only roughly 65% of people in the UK use Facebook so that was over a third of the potential donating public they were completely ignoring. The core Facebook platform is also in decline. They're clever at hiding that fact as they bundle WhatsApp and Instagram users into their published user counts and both of those Apps are still growing so it hides the decline in Facebook itself. The charity now has a website again and it's brought in a substantial amount of money since relaunch.
I like this site but it is quiet, but if you search and dig around you can find out most thing's, I'm always looking for technical training advice and video's, thanks to the general attitude towards motorcycle off road gone are the days that you could just go to some.waste land and practice, I can only ride wobblers days and occasionally an event, so building skills is hard unless you spend your whole time driving around the country. During the lockdown I've spent a lot of time riding in the back garden trying to improve, but if I could just find a bit of land and practice I'd ride more, if I turn up at an event I just haven't had enough bike time to not feel like a dick in a section.
Turn up and ride, plenty of helping hands and advice at a Trial
I log on every few days, from time to time and click New topics
Nowadays, every post seems about how to fix this bike or that bike, what's wrong with this grub screw etc
Nothing about the actual sport of Trials
I have noticed this over the past year or so (so don't blame lockdown)
When Trials Central first started it was all about Trials riding, comps, views, differing techniques................now it's got boring and just like a Trials bike repair shop
Last week I tried to discuss Trials after lockdown, the influence of social distancing at events etc..................what happened? 5 or 6 replies and that was it
Does anybody actually compete on their bikes anymore or just go to play and practice?
Years ago, you would get commentaries on the SSDT and Scott, plus WTC.................now nothing, last year's SSDT 2019 barely got a mention
And this is why we have the ACU governing body to sort this ! but A good start would be all events turn into pre enter NO ENTRYS ON DAY =helps with parking and along with acu membership we get a race number as in scotland ?(goes on bike & observes boards done to suite ) riders wear color bib for which course there on as in ireland = no queues around the secretarys car should work well at club center level, nationals? different format you get you number sent to you. As for section queues tape from begins cards out 6ft say 1rider /bike in there at a time riders own responsibility for distancing along with walking sections , .The only problem with all this is riders are going to have to get there act together
Just asking for your views as the ACU committee will no doubt be reading all viewpoints
I see that outdoor 'non contact sports' may go head and resume later this month, so that leads us onto the sport we enjoy
Apart from section queues, I think some good measure of social distancing, can be achieved and Club and Centre Trials
Nationals and bigger events, like Scott and SSDT with large amounts of Spectators may be more tricky
Just before lock down I was at the Cleveland National and they had sectioned off and roped off sections, so spectators and riders were 'distanced'
Punch cards were abandoned, in favour of marker boards by Observers and 2 Observers per section (not necessary at a Club trial)
Practice grounds - I see our local one is reopening tomorrow and working on a permit system, with just 2 vehicles per day there
Trials are going to be different for a while and section queuing needs addressing for sure, especially at smaller venues, with large number of sections on a smaller land area
I was wondering if anyone has got any recommendations for trials venues that involve rocky streams etc instead of the usual mud and slop that we have to ride though down here in the south, looking at traveling a bit further a field once things are back to normal!
Cheers, Daniel
Yorkshire, it's all huge great rocks and natural streams
Trials is relatively non contact, with pretty low attendances. UK wise, I can only really see concern over two trials, the 6 days and the world round in July.
I see at the Cleveland National this weekend, they have decided to not use the punch card system (to avoid close contact between riders and checker) and gone back to using clip boards and pens
Ok .... update, I tried starting the bike few days after the last trial and it started straight up, I’ve been to a trial today and all seemed well but after an hour it cut out, struggled to start it, did a few more sections, turning the bike off at some sections whilst waiting in the queue, It was starting back up ok then it cut out on me again in a section, then couldn’t get it going, waited 5 minutes, then it fired up, did a load more sections then after stopping breifly in a queue it would not start, after trying 20 times to kick it up and doing 6 resets I waited another 5 minutes and tried again, it fired up,
it’s as if the issue is when it’s hot , the fan comes on as it should, ...
I carried on riding and this time it cut out on me whilst in 4th gear riding at reasonable pace between sections ,
waitied 5 minutes and began the 20 kicks to fire it up, it started so I carried on, i by this point was on my last lap, I made it to the last but 4th section of my trial when it cut on again in the section, I waited 10 minutes and tried again to kick it up, it wouldn’t start, I pushed bast**d up the hill and back to the van, another 15 minutes later I tried to kick it up again to no avail, gave up and went home ... ??♂️
other info, this bike isn’t even a year old
the bank sensor was removed
new spark plug just fitted the other day,
Mine did the same, once..............riding between sections in 4th and it cut out, I nearly went over the bars.............just like it had run out of fuel
Stopped, restarted it and did a section fine, back along the same track in 4th and same again
So this was on Lap 1, struggled back to the paddock (numerous restarts and hiccups)
Topped up tank, but in reality it was virtually full and changed the plug
She ran right, for the rest of the Trial
A chap I know, who has one had a look at it and it turned out to be the tea bag filter, under the tank which was full of crap
I'd always buy Michelin, for the trials I ride, predominantly rocks, they have been the best tyre for nearly 40 years. Tried Dunlop before , not really impressed but understand latest ones are better. IRC not a million miles away but no cheaper and easier to puncture?
Trials riders do make me laugh , people pay £100 for a sticker kit but don't own a pressure gauge and then run second rate tyres to save £20/£30.
So true, sat in a queue at a section, gives you a glimpse of some of the crap tyres on bikes
First day on the Montesa repsol 260 - not a great succes.

You cannot shut off on a 4RT and then expect to recover grip, like you can on a 2t bike
