  1. Hi, my son seems to have some ideas about getting a motorbike to learn to ride, and I'm trying to get him to try go in the trials direction.. Could anybody give me some ideas of what would be a suitable bike sizewise for him (preferably at the lower end of the price scale..). He's 12 in mid-September, and is about average for his height, maybe a few cm more. Thanks, Kevin
  2. Well?? It's the end of November.... The silence is deafening :-))
  3. Any more news on this, or is it just a wind-up... Thanks, Kevin
  4. Hi, need a bit of advice about the potential value of 2 bikes in the UK. I have 1) a 2004 model Gasgas TXT250 Pro (blue) 2) a 2002 model (but actually sold Aug 2003) TXT50 Boy Both are practically unused and in absolutley new condition - the little one has just been around the local firestation's carpark a few times(err 3 times I think), and the bigger one just used for 1 day practice on grass. Due to an existing arm injury, the difficulty of doing trials here in Switzerland & impending redundancy I'm on the verge of selling them, and just wondered whether I'd be better off selling them in the UK. Can someone give me an idea of what I might get for them in the UK (I would bring them to the UK obviously (my parents in Leicester) so there's no particular transport costs involved!) Thanks for any advice, Kevin
  5. Hi, does anybody else have problems accessing this site? All I get is a bloody annoying message that I don't (I do actually!) have the latest version of flash installed etc and can't use the site. Even if I do the suggested thing and go and download the latest version it still doesn't accept that I have the bloody thing installed. I'm using NT4 with IE 6.028 if that has any relevance. We won't even talk about loading it on my linux platform, using Konquerer... God, I hate "flash" websites..... Kevin.
  6. My 2004 TXT250 pro is somewhat more "rattly" than the 2002 model that I had before - maybe it gets less with use, I dunno (the 2002 was decidedly secondhand, and the 2004 new). Kevin.
  7. Does anybody know anything about this new frame/subframe/swingarm for a Triumph Tiger Cub from a company called Armac Design - I saw it in a classic motorcycle mag a few months ago. It seems to be excluded from some events (classic SSDT?) because of this, but I wondered where else it might be excluded?? Thanks.
  8. Did anybody use one of these auxiliary fuel tanks: http://www.lewisportusa.com/hebo_bike.htm Just curious what you thought of them and how they work?? Thanks, Kevin.

    dont like em!

    1) Every 3rd or fourth time! Are we talking about a high revvin' competition enduro, or a just ticking over with the occasional burst trials engine. Thought so... 2) Competition engines often loose oil, as they're designed to - Honda seem to almost specialise in this - but there's a reason & it wouldn't apply to a trials motor! 3) Again, you're comparing apples and oranges! I've had XR650s and I've a triumph Cub - none have any significant maintenance issue compared to 2-trokes (like my GG) None whatsoever. Services intervals are less even. (e.g. GG gearbox oil change) 4) Well, from my experience temperamental enduro/Mx motors are NOT to be compared to low revin low compression motors like a Cub's. Kicking the Cub over is easier than the GG, much easier in fact. I have to wonder what with "experience" some people (not meaning anyone in particular!) are commenting on 4-stroke motors. I've had all sorts (well, 2 & 4 stroke), different configurations etc and it's just too complicated an issue to generalise on - wait and see what comes and then complain! Seems like those people with the new Scorpa are happy, right? Kevin

    Was It A Dream?

Yet another bloody web site in Flash... This one won't actually let me enter, says I've not get Macromedia Flash installed, but I have. (ver. 7) I hate Web designers... Kevin.

    New Bikes

On mine(in Switzerland), all the electrics (lighting, speedo) were factory fitted, except the indicators (which came in a bag). I did think this was an EU wide thing(due to homologation),but maybe not... I also got a "competition" (normal) rear mudguard as the bike came with one where a combined rear light unit/number plate mount were fixed on. Other than that, just the handbook. It's obviously a local distributor thing - I wouldn't mind a copy of that maintenace disk though. Any body care to lend me one so that I can, err, "look" at it? (or stick the contents on an FTP site somewhere??). How much does it cost - can it be purchased?? Kevin

    04 Gasgas

Just to confirm what other people have said I guess. I had an '02 TXT250 Pro and had numerous problems with the clutch - bloody pain in the ass! Other little niggly problems like plastic that easily broke - then the gearbox started occasionally jamming in gear (2nd) and then I decided to trade it in for an '04. The build quality of the '04 model seems instantly much better. There are small little improvements all round the bike, but generally the difference between the '02 & '04 is evolution not revolution - combined with the better build quality it's a pretty good bike now. That I bought an '04 after having these problems with the '02 is simply because, practically, I had no choice (only dealer within 2 hour drive, only homolgated bike off the shelf and, the clincher, a damn good trade in deal :-) Maybe I would at that time have looked (probably beta) elsewhere *if" I'd had the choice but now I'm pretty happy! Kevin
  13. Was that typo, or did they have the wrong date for the British round? And why does Germany get 2 rounds?? Just curious an' all that! Kevin
