    lights

Hello Bondy, the Sherpa`s had lights from new. I know the 213 Alpina`s were a 6 volt system and you had to put a black blanket over you and the bike and start it up, turn the headlight on making sure you were in pitch blackness to see if it was on. They were horrible. I know because I used to ride one on the road. They did not use a battery. In the Bultaco forums there is a wiring diagram and a picture of everything you need somewhere. They were very basic though and needed a voltage regulator in line as well. Good luck. Bully Lover.
  2. What I have always used is a 3/8th drive 15 mm socket as they slide right in.
  3. Hello Bondy, The front axle nut on all of the later Sherpa T`s are 15mm. I am not sure what they are on the first few models but I know from the M80`s on they are the same at 15mm. Good luck. Bully Lover.
  4. Hello black111r, we met at the last WDTC club trial. What type of oil are you using mineral or synthetic. I run my Sherpa on Castrol TTS synthetic oil at 50 to 1 and it runs very cleanly and whenever I pull the head off it there is no carbon to clean off unlike mineral oil. Any of the modern synthetic oils are pretty good. I am not sure on the spark plug though I think the Ossa`s should run a BP5 or 6es. One thing you should check is the plug gap as I know the Bully`s are very particular about there plug gaps. The Ossa`s have an electronic ignition so should`nt be as fussy. Did it miss with the Amal on it. It sounds more like ignition than carburation. The air screw won`t affect the top end to much. To set the air screw have it idleling and adjust the air screw to give the bike its highest idle and that is usually it. Just make sure it revs cleanly. Sorry I can`t be of more help Chris. Graham.
  5. Hello all. I did some investigating today up at a mate`s place where I store my Sherpa. He has about 32 Bultacos up there which I keep running and he also has 6 or 7 old crank cases as well and the only case which had the main shaft seal sitting proud was a M85 which is a 71 to 74 Alpina 250. That one was the only old case with the seal sitting proud. I assume the manual you are refering to is the Clymer so I had a look in both versions of it, old and new and the picture I think you are looking at was figure 117 which is proud but if you look at figures 77,78,82,83,84 and 89 they are all flush with the case. The best way is to put the new one in the same as the old one. I then pulled the primary case of my Sherpa and it is flush, it is a M151 engine. That is all. Bye. Bully Lover.
  6. Hello Bondy, The seal should be flush with the case also don`t forget the O`ring on the clutch shaft. Bully Lover.
  7. Hello again, I have had a look and the Bultacos are all closer on the left side of the bike not the right, sorry about that. That`s what you get for depending on an old top end. Bye. Bully Lover.
  8. Hello, If you look at any Bultaco front wheel it is always closer on one side usually the brake side. This is on all offroad model Bultacos. Bully Lover.
  9. Hello all. Thank you feetupfun. If anyone is interested the funny back wheel in that shot of the bike leaning on a trailer is an alpina/frontera rear wheel I had on it while waiting for a sherpa hub to show up and it still had the french air shocks on. I can`t remember how to spell the brand name, very good shocks though, never bottom out but they were very wide and they were an inch to short. Bye. Bully Lover.
  10. Hello again, that would be great David. I don`t think I will be riding in the twinshock masters this year as I will be working up your way somewhere with a rock band. I can remember drooling over my bike in the early eighty`s saying I wish I owned that bike. I would love to get the original engine back. It would be good to see some photos of it with disc brakes on it again as I can also remember when it first appeared with them on it. The strange thing is the drums are better brakes and the discs weighed a ton, I still have them if you would like to put them on your M49. That is all. Bye. Bully Lover.
  11. Gidday, as you can probably tell I`m from sunny Australia, Ipswich in south east Queensland. I own and ride a strange Bultaco 199b. It has a 151 motor in it with a M92 barrel on it,moved forward shocks,an aluminium airbox and silencer and an aluminium head stay and it had disc brakes on it but I changed them to ride twinshock on it. The original engine is in a monoshock frame that the bloke who used to own it in the 1980`s made. I started riding trials again in late 2007 after not riding anything for 20 odd years. I have been really enjoying myself riding again and am currently leading twinshock in the QLD Moto Trials Series by a far margin and got second in the QLD Championships this year. So hello to all. I would put a photo of my Sherpa up but I only have a couple of old analog photos of it as I lost most of them in the flood we had early in the year. That is all. Bye. Bully Lover.
