  1. I rode the trial yesterday, Cracking trial on a very nice day. Nice ride round; good variety of sections, both in type and difficulty, with a sting in he tail towards the end at 2nd last group. Heard it was driest for years and so made it easier, but the trial wasnt a walk in the park, thats for sure. Put me down for next year.
  2. Just wondering if there was any news on the Mid Wales Novogar on Sept 24th. It's a cracking trial with alot of top stream sections and also this year what with the Belgian World Round being cancelled and the Novogar championship so close it could get the entry it deserves. Thanks, Jamie
  3. I think an observer briefing before the trial would be great, but the main problem that clubs have is that alot of observers like to leave to go to their section early in order to look at it, or if it's far away get there before the riders do. That means in order to do the briefing they would have to get all the observers together way before the start of the trial. Possibly a sheet of paper with all the main rules on it would work well. Under current ACU rules for the majority of club trials a stop is a one, but it is sometimes difficult as a rider to try and argue when the observer who has given a five, as he has done so for all the riders beforehand. Also other common disagreements come from standing still with a foot down, which as far as i know is a 2 but I have been given a five for before, and also putting your toe down without taking it off the peg, which I have always thought was a clean. Obviously I really appreciate the efforts of the observers, and having observed quite a few times before, I know how it can be a thankless tast, but in a low scoring trial, the difference between a 1 and a 5 could mean the difference between a win and second, third or fourth.
  4. Having riden a few times down in the Kent area in the South Eastern Centre, I am guessing the observer on Section 1 is the same as the observer who used to upset everyone at the South Eastern Centre trials. I personally have nothing against being marked strict and exactly to the rules, as that is what they are there for, and this observer does observe well and the same to all riders. But its his attitude to the riders that upsets everyone.
  5. I would also like to send my thanks to everyone at the club for a great event. Also I would like to say thanks to the group of riders who were riding just behind me on the Saturday and helped out with the puncture and then the fuel, as I managed to stupidly put all my fuel cans into just one of the trailers. Bring on next year. Jamie
  6. I was not as Duluth, but i have been to many world rounds, both in England, and France, and have seen many dubious decisions, and although i applaud the efforts of obsevers I believe that it has come to a point in the World Rounds when we should employ professional observers which are paid to observe at each event, like in football and cricket. These observers would be well trained and consistant as they would observe every round. I believe with the importance and closeness of the World Championship, there is a urgent need for this to stop the observer problem going out of control
  7. Graded hillclimbs are always fun, and also a timed section or special test.
  8. I believe the best way to resolve the observers problem at world rounds is to hire 15 observers, which are trained thoroughly, and pay them to observe at every round, with the observers coming from the countries with the most riders doing the world series. This would lead to consistant observing throughout the year.
  9. So, early predictions on the winner, im going for Friexa, with Amos 2nd and Colley 3rd
  10. The CJB year review is usually good, with commentary from Martin Crosswaite, this video mostly takes in British trials but is very good value for money
  11. Has anyone got any dates for trials on Men and Motors, as they are certainly better than Eurosport at the moment
  12. hrc1, is any of these trials available for youths to ride
