    Fuel Range?

Can anyone give me some sort of idea what kind of run time / mileage I can expect while trail riding on a TR280i? I've seen a few people mention running out of fuel and I'm a bit paranoid re-fueling at every opportunity but am thinking of doing a longer ride we normally do on the Enduro bikes and worried about the fuel situation.
  2. I'm quietly confident that you've discovered our problem with the TPS and idle speed. I'm waiting to hear back from the importer. We are running GRO Off Road - 1 oil at 100:1 - so far we havn't had any plugs foul etc, I'm confident that this isn't a user problem, although we are new to trials we've been riding and racing bikes for all our lives.
  3. I think you might be onto something here, thank-god and Borus - maybe there is a fix for this issue. I know the bikes idle differently, this is for certain which would suggest that the idle wasn't set. Do you have any Ossa supporting documentation I can go back to the dealer with?
  4. That is a very good question - I've just emailed the dealer to ask. I don't think he has touched the tick over since both bikes idle at different speed. The 2011 idle is very slow and as such my father is stalling the bike a lot while he is getting used to it, the 2012 is a little faster although neither of them idle quickly. I'd prefer a faster idle on both bikes. Is that user adjustable?
  5. My kick starter is still rubbing a bit and fails to return at least half of the time - do you have the same issue? Any chance you can post a picture of how you modded yours?
  6. That is BS on the LSS not being required with Map 13. I have a 2011 and a 2012. Both have fresh filters, fresh fuel, new plugs and Map 13. They are not easy to start, the absolute best I have ever had from Cold was 3 kicks on the 2011 today. The 2012 took 10 kicks. The 2011 has a lot more hours on it and in general is easier to start than the 2012 which only has a few hours on it. Once warmed up, they'll start with between 1-5 GOOD kicks. Girlie kicks won't fire it under any circumstance. Generally the HOT starting isn't bad but its far more difficult than it should be. I stalled on a stage today in a creek and it took like 10 kicks as I couldn't get a good kick into it with wet boots and my left foot in a hole. Almost the entire club had a ride on our bikes and they loved them, but everyone commented that they were hard to start.
  7. I got an email back from Ossa today, they are now testing a NiMh battery and there is no ETA. I don't know if there was issue with the Lithium or they are looking for a more economical or better packaged solution perhaps. The dealer is saying to start the kick with your foot away from the lever so you kind of strike at it to ensure its starting from the very top of the stroke. I can get them to start using this method however it doesn't feel very mechanically friendly on the starting mechanism or my foot for that matter. One of our bikes has less than 1hr on it, the other one is used and I don't know how many hours are on it but probably only 20hrs or so as it looks like new..
  8. I don't care what the ISS pack costs, I want two of them :-) The dealer said they should cost about $200 each but obviously that isn't confirmed. The dealer insists that starting is all in the technique - I don't know how many different ways I can kick but I've tried a fair few methods. The event we are doing this weekend will have another Ossa rider there so we are hoping he can show us how to swing it. I think I'm getting a muscle imbalance in my right leg :-)
  9. I called our dealer and found out that both my bikes have Map 13 already. I don't know how hard they are to start on the Map 11 and 12 but it must be pretty bad if this is an improvement. Took me about 10 kicks to start them last night. I'll keep practicing but we are desperate for the battery packs. I just emailed Ossa from their website to see if they would help as the distributor doesn't have much info on the battery packs as yet.
  10. I had to cut the lower mounting tab off the kick starter side on the 2012 bike as the clearance is tight and the kick starter was rubbing on the lower part of the seat as this is spaced out a little due to the frame protector. This was causing the kick starter to not return. Added a 2nd zip tie to hold it in place, also had to file the frame protector down a little to allow enough space for the kick starter to return as it was rubbing on another spot as well. Didn't have to do it on the 2011 bike. Still happy with the product but a few trial fitments and they could iron these issues out for the buyers.
  11. We have a 2011 and a 2012, they are both supposed to be on the 12 map although I havn't verified this with my own eyes. Can anyone confirm if the 13 map is a significant improvement in starting? I started mine tonight and it took at least 10 kicks, it was dark by the time I got it going so I didn't get to have a ride and in the end I kept kicking just to make sure it would start... It did start with me standing on the ground though, every other time I've had it leaning against something which allows you to give it a better kick. There has to be an easier way though, we are doing an event this weekend and I'm worried Dad will need me to start his and I'm going to be knackered if I have to get them both running!!
  12. Ours are about 5-6 kicks from cold, first kick when hot or when left to sit for less than an hour. After starting mine, and then my fathers I'm ready for a rest!! Soon as anyone can get me two battery packs let me know as I'm desperate to order them and don't really mind where in the world they get shipped from.
  13. These are great, fast delivery as well. You need longer bolts to attach them with arn't included but its a chance to replace some torx bolts..
  14. Any idea when and where we can order the battery? I can start mine but its not easy and by the time I start my Fathers as well I'm ready for a cup of tea and a lay down!!
  15. We just ordered two of them, a new 2012 and a 2nd hand 2011 with the updated map. I have to wait a week for them to arrive which isn't much fun but I am sure they will be worth the wait!!
  16. Looks fantastic, can you tell me about your upper and lower fork protectors? Are they an off the shelf item or have you modified something for the upper?
