yup, as said before that's normal. It's amazing just how physical trials is as a sport....looks very calm and sedate, but its a great workout and like any workout one suffers after the first few.
My back hurts like hell after a ride, but if I ride regular basis it's not such a problem
What a great thread to start the new year....assuming it's not a troll?
I think they should ban those little flag things cos they are never in the right place for me and cause an unrequested foot to terrafirma transition.
PS in the scale of things diluted exhaust gases being carcinogenic, are on the very low side of potential. You've more chance of big C nastiness from burnt toast.
it should become more fun / easier once the sun comes out and it dries up some of the mud.
plenty of local events with a yellow route to get you going
good luck!
Hi Rabie, seasons greetings, I remember your goodself from the Sidcup club....I used to live down the road from you when I lived in Hallsfield Road near Bridgwood roundabout.Used to struggle on a Monty 315R (and WR250F for trhe enduro's)....I even made the front page of the club mag' as it had been a slow news month.
Yellow route:- strange how the route colour differ's in areas....yellow is super-duper-huge-hopping-big boulders-experts in Norfolk/Suffolk area..but I am colour blind.
Our easy route is orange, then white, then 50/50, blue/red, then yellow, don't see many yellow routes to be honest.
I've been riding bikes for 40 yrs now so I thought it was about time to have a go at getting muddy. I picked up an old Fantic the wednesday before Christmas and entered my first trial on the 27th. Possibly a little under prepared, I managed two laps of 10 sections before retiring, exhausted, with a fairly respectable cricket score! Getting the bike up to speed will be a lot easier than doing the same with the rider, but Hey, someones got to be last.
Welcome sir to the premier trials site
Don't forget to mention the Bully 198B you've had sat around since the early 90's, lots of help here for those old Spanish Sherpa's
I run my shocks with the body on the bottom..the non-sexy orientation....with the decals the right way up.
Quite often someone will comment that this is incorrect...had it today at the Dabbers from my mate. He told me that his damping went off after a year, but by turning them upside down they had a new lease of life....but anyone in the Anglian area whom knows the rider of a much much modified white tanked red framed TY175, will also know he maybe tight as a ducks chuff but does know his stuff.
So I googled the Betor website and according to their bumpf I'm correct.
That said as the gas part is just a pressurised bladder over the oil to stop it foaming. I can see that it shouldn't make any difference, but surely the manufacturer would know their onions and their product?
I know the argument of unsprung weight but please humour me.
6 micron accuracy in the machining of a bearing 3m in diameter ! I believe everything I see on the telly and in the news as well.
Just to clarify, a Micron is one millionth of a metre or one thousandth of a mm, more usually used to describe a surface finish than a dimensional machining tolerance.
Thats brought some memories back. I used to grind jobs to these tolerances when i was an apprentice back in tbe early 80's. Job was left to condition (stabilize) in a standards room for 8 hours (temperature and humidity controlled area)....measure, grind, stabilze and remeasure and so on.
As part of our fitting module we made a 1" cube that was flat, square and parallel to 2.5 hundredths of a mil' by hand....using nothing but a file.

'Generally' low compression will cause hard starting issues not poor idle etc and even if very worn still perform surprisingly well.
I had a gasser 2010 EC250 enduro that had huge ring gaps (1.8 mm from memory!) but that bike ran sweet as and pulled like steam train....rattled like a spanner in christmas biscuit tin...but rang sweet as.
My friend had a blue framed SWM (Pernod) back when almost new and it was a surprisingly dark blue. Don't remember it being metallic but I can't remember what I had for dinner yesterday being 53.
PS It seems Jumbo's were metallic but can't find the RAL after googling it.
Maybe time to crack a beer open and take a step back and go back to basics.
Has it ever run properly. If not and air/fuel/timing are ok then ya looking at mechanical silliness...like piston back back to front....rotary valve timing off....crank seal fallen out, believe it not it can give symptons of running rich due to such poor running. Saw that on an 1986 Honda CR125 a few weeks back just when I thought I'd seen it all!
Ya got the right attitude, always remember there aint no witchcraft involved although sometimes it doesnt seem that way.
Just a "been there before scenario" check the needle is correct.....difficult to see may need a magnifying glass....well I do but my eyes are shot and that the float isn't punctured.
Had a problem once on a Mikuni ( yes different) thay ended up being fuel leaking past the float needle valve due to bad O ring...just sayin'.
I built one up, it needs a better ignition and a slimmed down primary but I am pleased with how it rides. Hit and miss on parts from India. Just at 300lbs with oil and gas.
