ah ha ...the secret ingredient. No sissy worm at the bottom of Al's moonshine jug.

Hi Mike,
Any chance you can aply another Photoshop filter to see what it would look like with red and black instead of the Repsol orange on the rims
..to match the red shock spring!

Yes Carly please tell Graham that was a brilliant ride, as I'm sure all will agree that rode through what looked to be white water rapids for the last six days - he must have sonar in his Gaernes, or at the very least a depth gauge on his GPS heads up display.
Last year he showed he was indeed human, but now what with the British Championship, the Scott, the SSDT, and a few good enduro rides thrown in, we will change that back to "Superhuman'.
Congratulations indeed Grimbo.

RE500
Did you receive the complete hot start kit, or just the coil so far.
If you are one of the lucky few who have the kit, spill the beans and let us know what it contained.
Initial talk was of a mod to the carb to fit a lever operated hot start valve, and possibly a new decompressor assy.
It seems as if some of the replacement coils are designed for the 2006 frames, so may require some adaption to work on an 05.
Keep us posted with your impressions please.

Mark Kilhams (51) was entered on a 320. Anyone know if he is riding a 4t?
The two Spanish lads were entered as 340's - bit of a handful?
-
Very interested to hear from any fellow 3.20 riders, as am trying to gauge how many might be in the market for some 4t specific mods that have been developed by a reputable company who have a lot of R&D time with the Sherco four banger.
They realise that this forum is not the place for shameless unsolicited plugs!
So let me know where your loyalties lie, and send me a msg 'off-line' if interested,
or even just to say "Hi, I too have seen the light ..just like Caby!"

Disk mounting holes are 17.72mm dia
Disk mounting hole bushes are 17.22mm dia
So look for approx 0.5mm "float" which will be more at the tyre radius, which you will feel rocking the bike back and forth with the front brake on.
With the brake off you should also feel a little side to side play on the disk, which allows for re-alignment as the front end twists during those 180 degree stoppies you will doing soon.
Ishy as always summed it up best
"...[Chapter six service manual(Honda)],
service recomendation, stop ...king with the (EFI) mapping and ride the bugger."

Nigel D - are you thinking gg or Sherco prices?
Swingarm axle Part No. C154, along with the nut M310 (M14), shouldn't cost more than 20 for the pair ..it's the plastic plugs that are expensive!
Dont use too much torque (37ft lbs) as the steel nut will pull the threads off the alumium swingarm axle with ease.
Remember to use lots of grease/antiseize, and align the hole before you push the new one through, or else you risk damaging the new threads.

Hi Andy,
This is the diameter we need.
Cheers

Those unlucky lads who have had to replace a Leonelli stator wouldn't happen to have the old one lying around for posterity would they ..or was it heaved at Senor Leonelli Lucas?
Looking for the inner diameter of a 2.50/2.9 flywheel magnet, or the outside dia of the stator laminations as wondering whether the 1.25 uses a different smaller dia stator?
Thanks guys.

While this contains instructions for replacing the standard wiring harness with the RYP abbreviated item, it also show the connections you are after.

JM of Marlintec also has a colourful simplified diagram if you have your dictionary handy.

The 01 was the first year of the rear compact silencer, but without the plastic boot shield which was fitted in 02.
The 01 rear brake caliper was above the swingarm not tucked inside, but even the later 02 didn't change to the 4 pot front caliper and the 4 bolt sprocket as did the newer 2.5 & 2.9 models.
http://www.sherco-moto.com/history.html
Take a look at the pictures as the stickers might help you identify your model. The 01 had lots of chevron type markings and flat Sherco side frame stickers incorporating the bike size, while the 02 had the bubble stickers with out the engine size.
-
Word is that if you want an 06-200 you just have to lean on your local dealer, as if there is enough interest Sherco will build another batch, alternatively you can buy an 06-125 and add the 200 kit, which is a little pricey perhaps, unless you know someone looking for a spare piston/barrel/cyl head for a 125.

When you load up the trailer/van/transporter, tie a strap/bungee cord around the clutch lever and handlebar.
After starting the engine from cold hold the clutch lever in against the bars with your right hand, while waiting for the engine to warm up, ...and while you search for the choke lever with your left hand. Once warmed up remember to switch hands!
As Dabster points time sitting still is a factor. While the bike was parked all week doing nothing in the cold garden shed, the clutch spring pressure was squeezing the oil out from between the cork and metal plates - just let things warm up a little before tearing off across the carpark.
Gentle brake pressure perhaps but none of this 'jamming on the brakes/over the bars routine' if the family jewels are at all important!
