  1. Thanks for the quick reply. Just ordered a blanking plate from trail and trials. First outing on it at the weekend hopefully! cheers
  2. Evening all, Recently purchased an immaculate '78 TY 250 that has been dry stored in a hall cupboard since 1993! Removed the carb to give it a clean, however it was gummed up beyond cleaning. That was solved by purchasing a Dellorto PHBL 26 from Craig at Yamaha Majesty shop. Got that fitted this evening and she fired up fourth kick! I have removed the two stroke oil tank and I have replaced the throttle cable to one that only operates the slide. So to cut to the chase - Is it best to leave the oil pump intact? Or remove it and fit a blanking plate? I would have thought that if it were left it would seize up due to the absence of any lubrication. What are your thoughts on this? Thanks Mike.
  3. Here is my 06 250. It has a dellorto flatslide carb, vmar top clamp, boyesen reeds, techno 98 fatbars and other cosmetic bits. Quite fancy a pair of raptor pegs, having destroyed the soles of my boots on the hebo pegs, but apart from that I am going to leave it at that. Cheers
  4. Yes you will find it much easier if you turn the airbox rubber around as said above. I also changed the fuel pipe to one that fits the dellorto and then wired it on to the filter with grip wire, but left the original pipe on to the filter from the tank. This is a tricky job, but it can be done without taking off the midbox in about ten minutes. First off - put plenty 2 stroke oil on the carb and on both the inlet manifold and the airbox rubber boot. Then fit the carb into the inlet manifold (reed block) but at the same time you need to hold the airbox rubber back so that the side of the rubber catches the left hand side of the carb inlet. I then hook the airbox rubber with a 3mm allen key and slide the airbox rubber on. Then check the airbox rubber is on all the way around with your finger. Finally fit the jubilee clip by opening it out completely and threading it around the back of the carb making sure you dont catch the brake pipe. It sounds complicated but once you get used to it it is straightforward! But is is very sore on the backs of your fingers! cheers
  5. Hello, my friends sherco did the same and the sidestand was a bit bent like Perce said. We managed to get round this by using a thick zip tye to hold the spring to the arm of the sidestand. This did the trick Cheers Mike
  6. Just do them in the paint application and have a look that way, thats what I did, trust me you will like what you see! After doing that I had to get them done. Heres the finished product-
  7. Mine was 38 on the pilot from stock and now up to a 40. I am not sure what the main is but I have not changed it. cheers
  8. The settings that I am currently using are just trial and error really. I put in a larger pilot jet (next size up from stock) so that it would not block up as easily and then dropped the needle by one notch. The main jet is the stock one. It seems to have done the trick! The bike starts and runs a treat. cheers Mike
  9. Hi betarev3, I put the airbox boot on the other way so that the end that used to be on the airbox is now on the carb as it is slightly bigger. It has helped with fitting a fair bit! I have re-fitted it and I am now happy with it after changing the pilot jet and needle height cheers , Mike
  10. Hello boofont, I find that the 243 loctite seems to do the trick. I have tried the 271 but it is a pain to remove the bolts using hand tools with it. When you get all those loose bolts sorted you will love it! (but you really should not have to deal with that) cheers Mike
  11. Yes mine has blocked up a few times it is very annoying! I have had mine off for a while because I lost trust in it but im going to re-fit it this weekend with two fuel filters. They make they bike so much more fun! If you find out about a bigger inlet rubber will you give me a shout please! cheers

could it have been one of the rotax scorpas? 99 model?
  13. Sounds like you may have a bit of water in your carb somewhere. My bike did this once, and this was the problem. Give it all a good clean out with air or carb clean cheers
  14. Yes the cable does fit and the standard rubbers are also fine. The rear one is annoying to fit, with the dellorto having a bigger inlet, but a bit of 2 stroke and skinned knuckles will soon sort that! Hope you get it set up nice they make the beta even smoother and sharper off the bottom. Also make sure that the black cap on the top of the slider barrel goes on the correct way as it is easy to put it on the wrong way. If you put it on wrong it causes air to get in where it's not supposed to and bike runs like a heap. I did this with mine and got very angry then realised what I had done after fiddling around for ages. Cheers
  15. Thanks for the replies chaps, I now understand the situation. The National that was on the same day was a round of the youth champs. In reply to the original post I think the scottish trials scene is still very much alive and kicking. Especially after todays turn out at Monzie! It was a good trial ,my thanks to all the observers and course setters. cheers Mike
