  1. So look who gets his photo on the Todo site under the SSDT entries open article ....now that they are sponsored by Montesa? oops ...4th was wrong gear Fame (and fortune?) at last ...must be justification for another trip for a boot full of bogwater.
  2. How many parts were interchangeable from your 1998 Gasgas to your 99 Sherco? How comparable were they to ride, as I seem to remember the newer design of the two was quite a bit lighter, and had a more lively feel which other brands certainly deem worthy attributes. Nothing new in the trials world leaving one company to start another. Senor Bulto co-founded Montesa before starting Bultaco with ex-Montesa employees, and Mr.Tartarini surely had a Bultaco tape measure in his pocket before building the green machine for Bernie Schreiber to ride.
  3. Caption contest time - what did the observer think was about to happen to Katy Sunter ?
  4. Try Ishy's link again, as this should be a permanent bookmark in your browser, or go to http://www.sherco-moto.com/downloads/wayne...ation_Guide.pdf

    Wheels

Just to confirm does your rear wheel have the 6 bolt sprocket with the rear brake caliper on top of the swingarm (versus inboard of the swingarm as on newer models)? If so will have a dimension for you tmrw.
  6. Check out the Sherco website under the Racing Menu/Race Infos/ for the report on Italy. To top it all Patrick even gets interviewed by the International Trials Press and gets his own patriotic video on page 1 of TC. - thanks Andy.
  7. July 28 & 29th ..he should be able to get back in time if he has the same travel agent as Knighter, ..or if he had the same expense account! Good luck Patrick.
  8. Hopefully you already have the chain off soaking in hot wax on Mums AGA. Try presassembling the chain tensioner arm, bush, and spring but dont hook the spring end over the tensioner arm. Now turn the arm perpendicular to the swingarm (as if the spring was broken and the tensioner was hanging down like a pendulum?) Holding the chain tensioner pad lift the tensioner arm vertically towards the swigarm allowing you sufficient grip and force to overcome the unwound spring. Once the screw is tightened (T-handle allen key helps with the alignment) lift the tensioner arm up to its normal horizontal position, then you can loop a wire over the end of the spring to pull it down and hook it over the tensioner arm. As always safety glasses, patience, and someone else's fingers to pinch are essential. Good luck.
  9. Check out the previous silencer posts from the Sherco forum like this one. Best to read the whole dialogue as pictures included, before switching on the grinder - hope it's not too late! http://www.trialscentral.com/forums/index....&hl=exhaust
  10. First lay down underneath the fork leg. Now get up (slowly if over 30 and taller than 6' so as to not get rush to brain) and go round to the left hand side of the bike. Now go back to rhs and get safety glasses as hard to find once oil already in eyes, and forearm is caught in spokes of wheel as bike topples off stand. While you are at it find a bucket as if not useful for nauseous feeling it may still may be handy later on. While laying on the ground (on your back this time) and looking up you should be able to see the tiny (read 'easy to lose') 4mm SHCS, and also catch sight of the muck up under the front mudguard, which will decide to drop in your eye as soon as you try to loosen the screw. (This procedure assumes guard mounting screw is still in place) Unscrew 4mm SHCS and remove the two flat washers that should be installed on either side of the disk guard lower mounting tab. Do not unscrew the 10mm SCHS that the 4mm SHCS screws into as removal will drain the fork oil, and then you will be well and truly scr ....atching for aforementioned bucket. Caution: The preceeding can be an especially dangerous procedure if fork air breather cap was not previously vented of built up pressure from crash that caused initial guard failure.

If you are removing the airbox and carb for service then try loosening the clamp on the intake/reed valve manifold, and then pull the airbox and carb out as a complete unit. (Having already removed the top off the carb and slide, and wrapped for protection, and having covered open carb body with ziplock bag and rubber band) Once on the bench you can then mark the clamps and hose between the carb and airbox so as to ensure proper alignment when reassembling. Reverse the procedure and put the carb and airbox together as one unit back on the engine. The forward outlet of the carb should slide easily into the intake manifold, then lift up underneath the airbox to align the air box mounting screws. Take care not to cross thread those screws as you are working against the pressure of the airbox to muffler rubber seal. Temporary removal of the airbox top spring retainer also helps with the alignment.

  15. Best bet would be to try to score a ride on one of the updated 320's, with the hot start kit fitted and cam and coil changed. If it starts for you reliably then you can believe less of what the non 320 owners say. They are a lot of fun to ride ..might even make the 5moh more manageable if thats possible, but no one will argue they are the only machine to have on a cold day!
  16. Try the Sherco factory website for lots of useful info www.sherco-moto.com Check out 'Waynes Help' under the 'Support' menu http://www.sherco-moto.com/wayne_corner.html Oil changes are coverd under the title "Sherco Setup and Lubrication Guide" http://www.sherco-moto.com/downloads/wayne...ation_Guide.pdf
  17. ...perhaps if you were to change the tapered fat handlebar and pad, billet triple clamps, swingarm, side frame stickers by tank and footpeg, rear disk guards, sprocket chain guide, chain boot protector, and the bold new 'even more red' graphics...
  18. So Ishy I see you're a master with Photoshop as well as the wrenches? Have you added any water to the front tyre to keep it on the deck?
  19. So how do like the new 125 ..before you add the small block V8 to it?

    4t Again

Ok Gentlemen what's your verdict... Did you fit the whole kit and caboooodle ..new camshaft, kickstart lever, coil and hot start carb mod? Easier starting when cold? Easier starting when hot? Easier starting when upside down?
  21. You should have seen the officers face when returned back from his mornings stakeout at the coffee shop...
  22. ..thread hijack for a post or two.. Nigel, GasGas introduced the Pro partly in response to the new lightweight kid on the block, which just this year was fitted with a new frame design, and feels a whole lot different to ride than a 99. Now that you have some experience with GG what have been the major changes on the Pro?
