Splat shop list the Ohlins (six hundred quid 😵 ) and the drop down menu (to select bike) splits out the Evo post 2017 models as having the longer shock. So I guess yours and mine are the "old" length.
I might upgrade next year - will have to see how things pan out. Secondhand bikes are stupid money now and it is a much more difficult decision whether to spend on an old bike or to trade in and buy a newer one. I have just replaced the front brake master cylinder with the braktec one and that has improved the bike and got rid of one of my main complaints. (I saw the new Factory has this m/c) The bike runs well and the wife loves it so the present strategy is gradual budget-permitting improvement rather than bike replacement.
Yes I think your right. I like my 2015 factory and don't see any point of getting a newer one. I'd just be like all the other beta riders 🙂
I don't know the changes over the years, however I am interested (if you don't mind) to learn a bit more about your thinking. My missus has a 2014 bike (not the factory). She is OK with it but I find the rear shock a bit poor. I have looked at the Ohlins as a replacement. My understanding is the Factory still has the same Sachs unit. Would it not be better to fit an aftermarket shock? The Reiger is good (have one on my TRS).
Your right ChrisCH the standard rear shocks are rubbish and all the early models except the 2013 factory use the same rubbish. I was looking at a ohlins but most people have them for there newer Evo and have been told the newer ones won't fit.
Hello all I'm after some knowledge. I am thinking of replacing the rear shock on my 2015 factory. I've been told I can't fit a newer factory shock as it won't fit is this right?
Are you sure you stalled it? You could of had a cold siezure. The quickest way to diagnos this is to pull the front header off and look up the cylinder and check the piston. Otherwise if you have fuel and spark it should start again. Just make doubly sure the slide is closing all the way.
Thank you lineaway for you help after checking everything out and putting back together start up as normal. I rode a trial on it today and didn't miss a beat. Could anyone give me some advice on setting the Keihin carb up as I thought I may have a little pinking on the hills?
Lay the bike on its side to see if you can get fuel out the over flow, but only until it starts dribbling. You do have fuel?LOL
OK Lineaway layed bike over and fuel flowed out the bottom of the float chamber. Sounds stupid could it have anything to do with the gearbox oil level be low? Only because I put 400ml of oil it at the moment and should take a little more? Many thanks

Thanks Lineaway I'll go and try that now. Yes it has fuel I would say it got to much fuel. I started it like normal and it fired up and it Reved self sky high I put it into get and stall it as fast as I could.
Was the cable routed correctly? It may be that it wasn't quite right and was pulling up the slide a bit.
With the engine off, you should be able to hear the slide bumping on the stop screw if you use the twist grip to "accelerate" and then let it snap back.
I've checked Stu109 and can hear it bumping on the stop.

Thanks stu109 I'll check that now. I just remembered I changed the gearbox oil as well but can't see how that will make it rev sky Hi. I'm a bit nervous on starting it up now as don't want to do any damage 🥺
Good afternoon I started my Evo up today for the first time in a couple of weeks. It started second kick like normal then rev it self up I managed to stall it 😓 The only thing I've done since last ride was cleaned the carb out so I've removed the carb and checked everything all seems OK but I must of done something. Would anyone have any ideas ? Many thanks
BPR7ES is projected tip, but same heat range as BR7ES. Either spark plug will work fine.
Thanks for that I'll get a BPR7ES and try it this weekend. I've only just got the bike and it had a BPR5ES in it where my old 2013 Factory used a BPR7ES this is why I was asking about what plug should it have. Thanks All
Hello all so I've rebuilt the rear caliper and when checking the rest of the system found the rear brake hose has rubbed though on the swinging arm. I found the hose on the splat shop so ordered it after a few day of it not arriving i called them and they said its not in stock and on back order with no arrival date . Does anyone know where I could get one?
