  2. The bike is fast, I mean proper angry fast when it's on power mode 3 so I would assume this is correct. So if I want a generator that will output 13A consistently at 230v what would you recommend?
  3. The battery needs the charger to manage the charging process - can't direct charge. Don't know what voltage the battery is, but found this which may help?   4. Looking for advice on what petrol generator will power the charger for my Freeride E. I know it's not a trials bike but there is so much knowledge on here regarding E bikes. So I want to take the bike to my local MX/Enduro bike park, they don't have electricity so I can't recharge between rides. I can easily get 60 mins+ continuous ride time when I am not gassing it MX style so my plan is ride for a hour, have lunch and recharge the bike, then ride for another hour, and repeat. The charger needs 13 A steady output to fast charge, and 10A steady for normal charging. I found this article that talks about charging the battery with a petrol generator on the KTM blog, so it's doable. Had a look at generators, would this be suitable - its the 13/10A steady output that I am not sure about as it doesn't specify that in the specifications. Any advice on what type of generator I should consider greatly appreciated. Thanks

    Thanks for input, I agree about trying helmets on, but there are no shops anywhere near I can try that sell TTR. Thats why I thought Airoh would be a good fit based on my experience with the Stelt MX helmet. I may give the TTR a go anyway and order one online, its really the fit I am trying to gauge first - the Airoh Evergreen was very round in shape so hope the TTR is more like the Stelt/Aviator.
  7. Am with Gwhy here - I ride a KTM Freeride E, it takes me places a gas bike can't. If I see people I stop and have had absolutely no negative comments. I can ride from my door to lots of single track in woods where very few people go anyway - it is the best dirt bike I have owned for this reason. I was turned onto electric bikes after I changed my son from an SX50 to an Oset 20, he was able to ride the bike everyday as opposed to the occasional use he got out of the offensively noisy 2 stroke SX50. E bikes for off road are the way forward, check this riding centre out right next to housing in England E-SCAPE as an example of what can be achieved when there is no noise pollution.
  8. Hello all, I am looking for my first trials helmet, I ride a KTM Freeride E and don't want to use a full face helmet as I get way too hot riding the more technical stuff. My background is MX and Enduro so I find the Airoh Stelt/Aviator and Fox V3 fit me really well. Based on this, I ordered the Airoh Evergreen which feels awful compared to my Stelt and have sent it back. I have a narrow head but fit a size large 59-60cm so looking for suggestions for a trials lid that is well vented, light and suits my weird (narrow) head shape. Was thinking the Airoh TRR as it is well vented and light but open to other suggestions, one more question are any Trails lids certified for road use as I will be on road part of the time? Thanks
  9. Thanks guys, thought I would need a petrol generator. Had the bike a week now and really rate, it's performance is good. In terms of run times, if I am using it like an MX bike, throttle wide open then I get 40 mins. If it's more trail/technical riding then 1.5 hours is possible. Its charge time is fast, 50 mins gets to 80% charge and just over an hour is full charge. It is very agile, and you can really throw it around, so far I am impressed - it's performance is better than expected.
  10. I have bought the KTM Freeride - E. I know it's not a trials bike but after seeing my son take his Lipo'd Oset 20 to places a petrol bike can't go I was sold on an e bike. Almost bought the EM5.7 but the lack of dealer support put me off, the KTM has a 3 year warranty on battery and charger and a 2 year warranty on the bike itself plus the backing of the biggest player in dirt bikes. Anyway, my van has a 12v power output and I was thinking I could run an inverter to recharge the bike whilst I have a break - full charge is just over an hour. Realise I am likely to have to run the engine as I do this. On fast charge I need a constant output of at least 13 A and on normal charge 10 A is required. I have no idea what wattage I will need so am trying to understand what to look for in an inverter and if it even possible to run the charger from this power source. If that is not possible I thought about using a petrol generator, but agin need advice on what to look for. Thanks in advance for any advice
  11. ok, so have given the LipOs a go, and I just can't be a***d with the hassle of charging and maintenance of these things. Think I have zapped the smart charging board. I plan to go for the lithium route something like the Earth X batteries wish I had done this in the first place even though they are more £££. If anyone has any alternative suggestions to Earth X then let me know. For me ease of charging and maintenance is the biggest factor along with weight saving.
  12. Thanks GWHY - I am new to this and have no idea what the different battery specs are. I was given a shopping list by another member 'Frogger' who I know from the KTM forum. He bought and uses the same batteries I purchased. So are you suggesting I parallel 2 x batteries for now using only 4 of them in total? I have never used a wiring diagram so it doesn't mean a lot to me. All I want to do is plug the batteries together, charge and use them. If this involves changing the wiring on the bike then I will not be going ahead as I have absolutely no idea about electrics. Can you give me an idiots guide to what I do? Thanks
  13. Hi all, have taken the plunge and ordered LiPos for our Oset 20 48v. Ordered the following: 6 of these http://hobbyking.co....h_4S1P_30C.html 2 of these http://hobbyking.co....n_Parallel.html to parallel them together A pack of XT60 conectors 2 x low volatge alarms. Already have a LiPo charger so want to work out how to charge in parallel. Now that was the easy bit, how the f@ck do I connect them all together? I still want to use the existing Oset batteries so is there a way to add connectors from the new battery pack to the existing connectors? If anyone has time to post pics on how to link the LiPos up and connect to bike or give me idiot proof instructions I would really appreciate it. Thanks
  14. Thanks SZ - I have just taken the plunge and ordered LiPos. Was sent instructions by a member last year so I am following them and placing alarms on the packs. My only question is to how to connect them to the bike itself. I still want to connect the existing batteries when needed. Any advice or pics welcomed. Thanks
  15. Have looked at doing the LiPo conversion and just don't want the hassle of managing that type of battery. I recently put a Shido Lithium Ion battery in my KTM Supermoto and was impressed with the weight saving and performance. So, got me thinking I could put 4 x 12v Shido Batteries (19wh) Link here in the Oset 20. This will save around 70% in weight and should also give a longer run time as they are 19wh (Oset batteries are 10ah) Has anyone tried this, will it work? Looking for any type of input from members who have experience of batteries. Thanks
  16. I would agree with that in theory - however when I was ordering two finger brake/clutch levers I asked the owner of www.trialsuk.co.uk about this and he suggested a smaller front 10 tooth sprocket if you want to slow a 300 down a bit for lower speed riding which makes sense.
  17. I have ridden Enduro and MX for a few years but bought a trials bike a few months back after a bad MX accident (snapped my right arm) in April. I sold the crosser as I need a year off to recover so ended up buying a 2013 Beta Evo 300 to play on. I chose a 300 as I want to use the bike a bit like a light weight Enduro bike and not just slow trials stuff. I put a slow action throttle on the bike as my right arm is still weak. It feels great and has loads of low end torque. I find the power delivery on the bike feels tame compared to an Enduro or MX bike and am glad I went for a 300. I guess I am not really a trials rider but am starting to enjoy the technical riding and lifting the front wheel up over obstacles so the bug has bitten quite hard. So I would say go a for a 300 and if you want to tame it put a slow action throttle on, and or a smaller front sprocket. I am 6'2" and put 6" high Jitsie bars on the bike which is essential as the bikes are tiny - recommend you so the same.
  18. Have seen one in the flesh - Drysdales KTM in Perth (Scotland) have one in stock. Looks really narrow and light - I am really tempted by one. Plenty chat about the 250r on ktmforum and the bike got great reviews in TBM. I think it is the best option for LDT and a generally fun bike.
  19. Looking for any advice with fitting a homemade seat to a trials bike. As a test I strapped a seat of a KTM SX with a bit of foam onto my Beta Evo 300 and liked the results - I can still stand up but I can also ride the bike a bit like a crosser/enduro bike and get my foot out and corner the bike (old habits die hard). Has anyone else tried this and what seat did you use. I was thinking about buying a Stomp pit bike seat and see how that fits as the KTM seat is a bit too wide. I am using the bike whilst I recover from a bad injury (MX) and really liking the trials bike but sometimes would like to add a seat so I can corner the bike. I know beta do a seat/tank aftermarket product and this was one of the reasons why I bought a Beta, But it is ££££! Pic of the frakenbike below - thoughts appreciated
  20. Do it, it's amazing fun. I have just gone the other way from MX and Enduro having broken my arm in a stupid crash that needed surgery to fix in April this year. Need more time to recover so sold the crosser and bought a second hand 2013 Beta EVO 300 to play on whilst I get stronger. Really love the bike and enjoy the light weight and playfulness of the bike. Miss going sideways and hitting berms though...
  21. Had my SXF250 insured with Carole Nash - called today to swap bike to a Beta Evo 300 I just bought and told they don't insure that type of bike. Anyone recommend a company who does? Cheers
  22. ok, so I have a found a nearly new Beta Evo 300 for good money. My questions is - would I be better with a 250 as I am new to trials bikes? I will be using the bike for general riding/fun/singletrack and will likely buy the long range tank/seat. I may start riding events in the future but the bike is for fun at the moment. I have sold my SXF 250 so am without a bike. Am recovering from a really bad MX injury (snapped my humerus had surgery almost 12 weeks ago) so MX and enduro is out for a year but some easy fun on a light trials bike appeals. I may also 'retire' from MX and Enduro if I like trials as I can't take another major injury - so this bike has to be able to do a lot. I know guys who use trials bikes a bit like light weight enduros. Thoughts please Thanks
  23. Help please, planning to buy a new 2013 (or 2012) bike - am a newbie to Trials but have ridden enduro and MX for a few years. I like riding bikes, not working on them so want an easy to maintain reliable bike. Apart from starting issues, I like the look of the Ossa 280i - realise they have the ES9V easy start kit which 'seems' to solve the problem. Reason the Ossa appeals is FI as I don't really have time to clean and tweak carbs regularly - I also ride FI on my MX and Enduro bikes and really love them. The OSSA also has great suspension but the lingering starting issues concern me. As I will be using the bike for mixed riding, the local off road centre at Tinto has an amazing 10 mile trail loop with mixed riding through forrest, moors, hills etc so I want a bike to ride on this. So, what else should I consider: 1. BETA EVO appeals and it has a great long range tank/seat available - not sure what engine size 250 or 300 and is this bike easy to maintain? 2. GAS GAS TXT - beautiful looking bike not sure what engine size 250 or 300 - is this bike easy to maintain? 3. Sherco - also like the look of the bike - not sure what engine size 250 or 290? Order of importance as follows: 1. East starting 2. Easy Maintenance Thoughts appreciated Thanks
