  1. fitted the no3 slide seems to have stopped knocking but now seems to surge and pop on over run more than it did which normally happens when lean but plug looks as if a little rich so ive ordered a 45 pilot (standard) as it has 48 at present fingers crossed it will be sorted

    :chairfall:

  2. A lot of people, especially in the UK mount flywheel weights, extra gaskets etc. this will definitly help (however probably be expensive?). The bike can be a powerhouse if needed, and otherwise be a little bit grippier and less powerfull.

  3. Still havent found the problem, but rehaul is decided. I am now pretty far in taking it appart so can better finish the job!

Only did not have my puller here, so need to wait to see the real problem!

  4. And the two are quite different bikes. FOr beginners and old skool type riding the older model is better (and almost indistructable), the newer is lighter and more agressive (but needs more money for maintainance and parts).

  5. Ok, ill check it out. Only had 1 time rubing, and this was because I was beeing sleepy and did the clutch wrongly. I had the fingers on the wrong place :P

I will check in later again with the answer.

  6. At 20mm the clutch fingers should be rubbing on the clutch cover.

The ''cap'' of the slave cilinder is inbetween.

I am going to fix it, also to make sure this does not cause it, and because it needs to be correct anyhow. And if it solves it, I dont have to take it appart.

Only strange thing is it did work before without this sound, but the places could have swelled, I think I did redo the waterpump, but I can check that in the log file.

  7. On my second bike (spares, project, something bike).

I bought it with the main bearing of the clutch worn. Replaced it, checked everything and build it back together. At first start it seemed ok but shut off (probably because of oil during mounting of the cilinder etc). Second attempt the kickgear broke (the footrests had been welded up, and the kickstarter could get caught in it).

Bought the part, needed it for another bike, took some while. Drank some beers, lived my life,

Couple of years later, bought a new gear and mounted it, started it, and a strange sounds occurs. In neutral there is no real problem, but when put in gear and clutch released a strange noise occures. Its like a rubbing, almost like rubber against steel (but less squeaky) not real scraping or something. I cant figure out what it can be. Had the clutch side everything loose and remounted no difference.

I do notice some sound from the gearbox when I turn it by hand, but I think its always like that.

I would like to figure it out before dismounting the engine (again), but I am affraid thats the only solution (and it keeps you busy).

One more thing I noticed the clutch pack is quite far off (fingers like 20mm) but I cannot think of a reason why it would make this noice). And it used to work...

  8. Don't think they have thermostats my be wrong?

Its only a sensor for the fan.

IMO if the fan does not work, or the waterpump doesnt, it would overheat quite fast standing in your garden. You can check if the fan turns at the moment its trowing out coolant.

But I think all the suggestions have been given so check it all out.

    Headgasket

Leak in radiator (but would cause dripping somewhere)

    Faulty radiator cap

Waterpump (leaking waterpump would not cause overheating)

Fan not working propperly (maybe try to measure the voltage of the system)

    Thermo switch.
