  1. Thanks Larry. I'm thinking his first name was Tony but that's all I remember. He was very reasonable on his prices plus the CAN to US $ is very favorable.
  2. I have an old Cota 123. YEARS ago I bought parts from a guy in Vancouver Canada. He had a lot of old Montesa parts. I can't find his contact info now. Can anyone tell me who he might be and contact info?
  3. Bull. Our '02 Sherco has just been opened up the first time for new main bearings. Rod was fine as was the piston. Put new rings in just because it was open. No it's wasn't ridden at the World Jr. level but my 180 lb. behind ran the dog poop out of it on the loops for one full year. Frank

    240 Pipe Removal?

Thanks for the replies! Yes it's a 240 Pro (FM450)....so can either of the seals be replaced without spliting the cases? Frank

    240 Pipe Removal?

Recently picked up a nice 240. I got it running pretty well after finding the needle mounted over the slide clip instead of under it. I decided to strip it and do a good clean up including burning out the pipe. I have tried all I can think of but I can't figure out how to get the pipe out of the frame. After taking off the springs, air box, clutch cable and rear mud guard I can't get it out! It's loose but I can't get it out, too little clearance. I even dropped the front engine mounts to get clearance. Do you have to take the head off to slide it out? Even tried to remove it backwards through the frame. Also, are carb to airbox boots available, I don't trust mine. Anyone know what the crankshaft seal sizes are? Thought I'd freshen them to be on the safe side. I understand they can be replaced in the frame w/o splitting the cases. Any help appreciated. Frank
  6. According to the AHRMA site it's a CC, MX, PVMX and Trials. The trials event is on the 2nd though. Frank

    Ttc National

AtomAnt, my son and I will be at the ComfortInn too. After consuming Al's libations, we may never see you! If you hear banjo's playing, remember to squill like a pig to keep the locals at bay! Frank

    Oil Slinger Tool

Make One! Take a wad of alum. foil, cram it in the space tight to get a mould. Pull it out carefully. Measure/find a scrap socket to use that fits inside the hole correctly. Then use your cutoff wheel to trim away to make the prongs to fit it. Took me all of 15 minutes and it worked great. Saving that, Motion Pro sells them as do Parts Unlimited. They wanted about $20 for one, hince my butchering an old socket! Frank
  9. My Cota 335 was tubless on both ends. A few here and there had the tubless fronts. Frank
  10. Brian, was this your TL? My old one did it a couple of times. The question is why did it occur? 1.Improper key or key insertion. I ordered keys several times from Honda, never fit right. Ended up making a key fit EXACTLY right from a larger one. They will push back like Charlie says and prevent a good seat, especially if they are slightly too tall. 2. Improper mating surfaces. If it's sheared before, likely the surface is buggered now from the spinning with the broken key in there. Use a file to knock down any ridges, especially at the keyway, then lap with compound until all shiney. 3. Inadaquate torque when tightening, I'm sure you are using a good air wrench right? I could never hold one and tighten it right with a socket or spanner or torque wrench. 4. This one's just my theory. Timing is too much advanced and/or compression too high. That was my problem after I built the TL to 168cc. I had to run VP C4 (110 octane) to keep the timing advanced and keep it from knocking. Lugging around followed by a burst of wrist and BAM, she'd knock and shear a key. Happened twice. The rotor has so much mass that when it knocks the rotor shears itself from the momentum. If this is happening, repeat items 1, 2 and 3. Worked for me. Frank

    Sherco 80

Okay Alan, you proved you could ride well on a 125 up at Cartersville, but please give these little bikes a break! I know you've lost a bunch of weight this year but punishing an 80 like that is just too much!!!!! I couldn't help myself, hope this thread is for a bigger bike for Dean. Since y'all call Christina's 125 "Pizza Bike" what do you call mine? Enjoyed your event! Frank
