My latest problem!
I have removed the flywheel on TY 80 and it has had a lot of corrosion/rust from mositure.
With a tight flywheel spinning, no spark, but if I pull the fly wheel off the shaft a little ways then it begins to spark very well! I have lightly sanded with black fine sand paper some of the rust off the point of contact on the flywheel where the points arm rides, still no spark.
Any Ideas?

A pully puller I imagine could damage the flywheel?

Any Ideas on taking off the fly wheel on a TY 80 if I do not have the specific Yamaha, puller bolt, extraction thingy?

Just trying to promote bike trials!
The event was a whole lot of fun and I met a lot of nice people.
I really enjoyed seeing Louise Forsley ride, on Staurday night she did a {no kicker} splatter about 5' high onto a car when several of us could not!
Way to go Jim Gwane for winning the Expert class. He was representing the Michigan Mafia!
Its really hard to ride in a van for 9 hours with Sherco pilots, they can be rather obnoxious!
Viva Montesa!

Thanks to all of the people that came out to ride, and special thanks to the bike and moto people who helped out with the event setup both the Fri and Sat. Hopefully next year we will have everything show up and have some more and better obsticales so that we will not have the expert/pro setup problem again. Plans are already underway for next year, we will try and make this a better event year after year. Hope everyone that showed up had a great time and plans to come back and bring some more friends next year.

You guys will laugh at this one!
I was frantic to get this bike running and yes the first problem was a dirty carb, but then I kept putting one of the floats in upside down!
You must understand hoosier hillbillys!
-
I'm trying not to panic, but I can not get my Hontesa to start and I'm leaving for Motorama in the morning!
I pulled the carb and cleaned it last night, there was dirt visable in the intake side! I simply ran some fine wire thru the jets but did not remove them, used some carb cleaner also.
I went home at lunch today and poured a little amount of fuel in the cylinder and she fired up for a moment!
The symptoms that lead to this: After 7 hours of riding this week she started not to idle then pinging, or a slight knock as she tryed to idle, diesaling affect.
any suggestion would be greatly appreciated!

My Montesa's rear brake feels weak!
I have no idea how to bleed the rear brake:
So, I took off the brake pedal/push pin. Hook up a syringe to the bleed screw and commenced to drawing oil from the main cylinder, is this correct? I'm simply pulling out the air. I need step by step instructions please, I've got em working, but should have way more braking power, I have new pads in place.

Oops, I did not realize this was in the Beta forum!

Thank You Matt,
That is very helpfull

Curious, How hard is it to split the case and replace the bottom end bearings on a
Gasser, does it take special tools?
-
Gaby,
I like fish and chips! and beer by the pint.
-
O.K.
I see now which companies offer a blend pre-mix oil.
100:1 mixture? isnt that a little to lean.
-
Which oil brands are semi-synthetic?
I have a constant battle with my Montesa 315 loading up!
I run silkolene/102octane racing fuel 80:1.
If run to hard down the road they can seize?
-
Andy,
Being able to down load video clips is the greatest way to promote trials! At least here in the states, I just wished I could cut and paste the clips to place in other forums, it would only bring more buisness to trialscentral!
Could you make this possible on your end? or is this my computer related problem.
P.S. I want to move to England and ride trials the rest of my life!
-
Just stumbled on the Video section, my DSL makes video uploads a snap!
Now, please and more clips!

Another question!
Should a person practice hopping on a motorcycle with the engine off?

mototrials/biketrials!
Feet position on motorcycle foot pegs?
I certainly feel more in control when rear wheel hopping while standing on the shank portion of my feet. My rear brake control is more efficient when rear wheel hopping.
This may seem like a stupid question but I had some friends at a event set up my bars and levers, made all the difference in the world, improved my riding greatly!
-
Mich Lin,
I have a question about foot position, I'm confused about riding on the balls of my feet or on the shank? I always was told to ride on the balls of my feet on moto
I dabble in bike trials and ride Sport level, some Expert bike trials riders mentioned that I should stop riding on the balls of my feet and more on the shank for stability. Should I adapt this style of foot position for moto?
I understand that going up ledges you need to be on the balls, not to catch the toes and doing large drops for more absortion of shock.

Hans Rey is a famous bike trials rider, check out the pics!
He evidently rode a borrowed Sherco at a recent event!

XISPA, Are these mini all right? Made in Spain correct, and how much are they in US currency? :santawink:

How many of you moto-heads also ride bike trials from the USA?

r2w,
A video clip of me having a melt down after cross threading a bottom bracket in my new BT RAVEN 6.0 would be worth a mint!
Took four of us to get it back out with a leverage bar.
Luck had it we rechased the threads and brought enough back to life its going to hold a bearing cup on the non-drive side of the bottom shell no problem with a little bit of lock tight!

I think possibly a over packed muffler caused some of these symptons! Could this be true? I cleaned everything and repacked the muffler with less packing and the machine ran great!
Is there different kinds of packing we should use?

Andy,
If your forced into this by all of us enthusiast, you could take payment to help host or what ever!
I want to see some clips of R2W getting radical in the back yard!
