  1. Check the actuator arm adjustment.( adjuster accessed via a removeable plug in the center of the clutch housing/casing)  Then set the cable adjustment. If it still slips then probably time for a set of plates.

  2. Just spoke to John Lee mc's and they say the hole helps eliminate clutch drag, I presume you can a build up of oil under the slave piston. He says they have none in stock and are on back order but I won't do any harm riding it with my current installed bolt. Phew! I'll get one once they are in the mean time I can ride it.

Thanks for all the advice chaps.

Certainly beats splitting the motor like the older ones!

  3. Bugger. When reassembling I noticed that it was not actually a torx bolt but an allen bolt. It was a little chewed up from when I took it out using a torx drive. So I had a good look through my assorted bolts and found one the same size and fitted that. All back together now and working a treat. I have just been in my workshop and had a look at the bolt that came out and yes, it does indeed have a hole through it! Bugger bugger bugger! How did I not notice that!

I guess it will have to come apart again!

  4. Hi all. My chain came off and seems to have bent the gear selector shaft. Gearbox still works but the lever sticks in a downwards position so it has to be lifted up to select the next gear. I believe it to be bent so I am removing the shaft to replace or straighten it. I am told this can be done on this model by removing the clutch housing and clutch. I have the housing off now and I am confronted by the star headed bolts that secure the pressure plate. Can anyone advise me what type and size they are so that I can buy an appropriate socket.

    Many thanks. Glenn

  5. I had a good look at one of the new Scorpa and wow, what a lovely bike. Very nice indeed. will be on my shopping list when my GG is done. As long as I like the way it rides, i.e not to powerfull, thats no good for an average rider in the UK.

  6. Hmmmm, does seem to be a very tough year with the weather and all. Going to get my bike registered soon. Doing the Forest trial this month. Then going to some road trials in the yorkshire area, and try to get a feel for it all.

Many thanks for all your input and comments. Did lands end to John o on a push bike, and would really like to add riding trials around Ronnoch and Glencoe to my tick list. On the back burner, but I usually do what I put my mind to. I am under no illusion how hard it would be mind.

    Go Sam Haslam!

  7. Hello chaps, I think I have just sold my 2013 TXTR250, which was a lovely bike but was a handfull in the mud, I have struggled for grip all winter, I think it is too much of an experts bike for me. I am a reasonable clubman rider and sometimes ride 50/50. I had a Scorpa 250 2005 for years and loved the smooth motor, it was a great bike. I would love that sort of power again, nice and smooth, not spinning up at the slightest provacation. I have heard good things about the Beta 200, but there are so few about I have not managed to blag a ride on one and cant find any objective reviews on line. Anyone here got one or has ridden one that can give me some idea? I am a heafty bloke at a little under 16 stone but riding my Fantic 240 is no problem for me at 212 cc, it has plenty of grunt.

Thanks in advance for any info given.

  8. I have been out on the 241 and it seems like a great bike, I need to fit some modern rubber, it has some Pirelli MT43s, yuk, hard as concrete, god only knows how old they are! The front brake is fantastic!

On the down side the motor is very werry. Is that a word? My 240 has a 241 motor and is sweet as a nut, it wines when in gear and using the clutch like they all do which is normal. But my 241 makes a high pitch whine all the time. Found it was getting on my tits. Best described as sounding like an older model Sherco. Now both bikes have the same motor so I know something is not right.

This bike sat in a bike shop for at least ten years and is in original condition. Even before it was parked up in the shop it had had very little use. I get the feeling that the mains have suffered from drying out and pitted during this layed up period. Any thoughts?

This thing looks to have it's original air filter which is desintegrating on the inside, I have ordered a new one. Apart from that it's unbelievebly nice. It does leak a little spooge from the silencer to main pipe union, this is just an push fit with no rubber. How is it supposed to be? Some soert of rubber union?

    Many thanks.

  9. Hi, thanks for all the replies. Im from Hertfordshire and generally we don't have many rocks in our trials, they are more about slippery cambers, tree roots and such like. This may well be my biggest problem. I am a tough old bugger and have done things like cycled Lands End to John O groats. 12hr solo enduros at expert level, I ride trials every weekend and all through the winter. I do ride 50/50 sometimes and can finish around halfway up the results in that class and have recently been getting 4th placed in clubman class. I am improving at trials having got back into it last october so I expect to keep improving. Prepping a good bike is no problem for me.

I assume there is only one route on the sections or are there two?

I would not be bothered about the results I would just like to be able to finish it.

I actually did try and enter many years back but was turned down in the ballot. What time of year do the regs come out?

Sorry for all the questions, but then this is SSDT forum!

    Glenn

  10. Hi, I have a question about the SSDT, as an enduro rider I have no problem with the between section going or endurance. My question is, how hard are the sections? I have ridden trials on and off since I was 17, now 50, I now ride trials, both twin shock and modern at clubman level, was expert level in my 20's. I don't mind a struggle. Are most sections ridable for an above average club rider?

This trial is on my bucket list.

    Many thanks in advance

    Glenn

  11. Hi, yeah Nick is a great bloke. I haven't actually seen the bike yet but have heard from a couple of people that it is very nice and it has not done much, apparently it was sat in Julian Wiggs shop for ten years! Dunno if that is true.

I have no experience with the early trials disk brakes I quit trials before they were out and started back in 2005 when they were already very good. Is the 303 brake likely to be any good? Better than the 300 drum?

Would you also happen to know if the 300 brake will work with a standard 240 Grimica hub?

    Many thanks.

    Glenn

  12. Hi, I have just bought this 241, get it on Sunday while at a trial.

    http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/281592161258?_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2648&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT

As you can see she is a drum brake version, I am thinking of pinching this brake and fitting it to my 240 because I think it is the same brake as a 300 which is supposed to be the best Fantic front brake.

I would then like to fit a disk brake to the 241. Any suggestions as to what brake I can fit? Was to 241 front disk brake any good? Or is there a simple modern front brake that I could use. Many thanks. Maybe one from a Fantic Section.

    Many thanks.
