Not the cheapest things to replace i am afraid. What has gone wrong to cause you to do such major work?
If your careful you may be able to reuse the relevant gaskets but as far as parts go you will need new ones. I would give Pidcocks a call as they are the new Montesa importer to get a base price and then try BVM or Jim Sandiford to see if they can do it cheaper.
You may be able to get a lightly used 2nd hand piston and pin if you can find someone who has recently installed the 280cc kit.
Just empty out the radiator coolant and pour in engine ice. No need to dilute and anything messy just pour it in and you will be amazed what a difference to engine temperature it makes.
Just had an email from NSMCC and two other bikes have been stolen from the Bristol area. All I know is that one was a 07 KTM 300 and the other was a GasGas EC250.
This is all the details I know for now but there was a Wednesday night trial on at Hanham Mills so possible followed home?? This is pure speculation at the moment as I was unable to attend but their could be a link.
Sorry to hear about it mate. I have been their several times and it is the worse feeling in the world.
Check ebay, trade it and gumtree. Also figure out if they rode them away as thats what they did to ours. We were able to locate the areas they were ridden to but we could never find them. Obviously if they used a van it will be harder.
There are several gangs in the Bristol area so you always have to be on the look out.
Awesome! I love his videos they are so well edited and shot its amazing. I watch a lot of bike related videos on the internet and by far he makes some of the best.
As long as you do the physio afterwards you should be fine. Do the exercises daily building up the reps and on the day of an event before you ride and it should be fine.
Many people laugh these boring exercises off but they are vital to your recovery in the long run.
If you can't get a trials display team how about a cycle trails one. I saw a good team at the dirt bike show a year or so ago and it was amazing but I can't remember their names.
RK Chain from Talon engineering. Great bit of kit.
I have been using them on numerous bikes for years with good maintenance will last very very well.
Also replace the sprockets as well you will always get better life when you replace all of it together
As long as you stay away from Iris you will be alright. That seems to be the only chain on the market that everyone has had problems with. However Regina and Renthal are both quality chains so you pay your money and take your choice.
Never ridden one but I have heard reports that the difference in frame geometry makes the bike turn a lot better than before. Apparently it turns and tracks better so in tight turns it is easier to ride.
However there does not seem to be many 09 around due to their initial cost so you may struggle to find someone who has ridden them back to back. I would love to give one ago but knowing my luck I would prefer it over mine and therefore would want to buy one.
The filter in the pump on the 4rt is a funny thing.
It is a bit like a tea bag on the bottom of the fuel pump filled with pea gravel. I recently have had to clean the filter in both of our 4rts and even have done it on a friends bike. Some seem to remain spotless others pick up a lot of dirt. Mine was filthy when I did it last week for seemingly no reason. I just cleaned it out and the bike is running perfectly again as before it was not 100%.
Rather annoyingly Montesa do not sale them individually. They only come with a whole new fuel pump, setting you back i believe
At the end of the day Montesa and Honda Must have an Research and development department. It would be hard to imagine that Montesa have sat back and just partially developed the 4rt over the past five years and not funded development on a newer generation bike.
Personally I love to see a Montesa Enduro bike based around the 4rt but I am sure that would be counter productive as it would compete with the crf x range.
But all this is pure speculation. No one really knows apart from the top brass at Montesa and Honda Europe.
They moved to subscription only and then seemed to drop off after a few issues. Maybe there was not enough interest or the advertisement income dried up in the current economy?
Either way it was a cracking mag, great write ups, amazing illustrations and covered an amazing array of topics. Haven't ever found a mag in the UK that quite compares.
