  3. I have the newer Hebo Zone 5. Very decent lid, supercomfty and airy. I like the visor too, pops out nicely and away inside with a quick move of one finger. For bright sunlight & visor is also handy for those short trials tracks interconnecting commutes when you go 5th 6th gear and the wind doesn't want to push your eyes out of their sockets with wind pressure LOL But I took the right color - white. No ugly multicolor sponsored-superstar wannabe for me please, just a nice elegant functional & timeless helmet please:
  4. I had the same question, my dealer Joa Hindren replyed nicely: The correct thickness is for your use about 9,70-9,83 mm. If it's more, clutch starts dragging and less then slipping. It can work somehow even with slightly thinner setting. You don't need a tool, just take care that the spring is in the middle (eyes and fingers) and tighten the bolts all the same. This is how I do it.

  6. I started with digital and now run mostly film for my own stuff. I can tell digital has EVERY advantage over film. Digital is all about specifications, mathematics, superficiality and numbers game: mighty sharp, loads of resolution, dynamic range etc. I run digital for making some additional income since public perception of the image "quality" is so twisted in the digital age and the "artistry" bar set so low that it's so easy to make an earning now. But ironically all my personal work, where I take things seriously from artist's point of view and don't think about money or income, is on film - don't get me wrong, with digital I get pitch perfect pictures, till I figure it's just "too perfect" for the lack of better world - too superficial, surgical/clinical, sterile and ultimately lifeless. It's just the artistic rendering of the film that digital just can't touch no matter how radical post-processing I do and spend endless hours of editing my digital work. With film you need almost no post-processing, it's naturally organic looking with soul, life and art inserted, it is written in film's native "DNA". So while the digital may be superior in specifications I find lots of use in film even in 2016 and beyond. That's my personal opinion on the endless and totally pointless "film vs digital" arguments.   7. Great idea, will do so. Wider bashplate is on the way too. Since it is so thick lever I am thinking of grinding a little sideways off too, to bring it a couple of mms closer also.
  8. Yep, DL the TR280i Factory Service manual, there you have the views from both sides of the crank expanded. Your 300 is 99% the same - just the top end is different for little more added capacity.
  9. Had a quick dash outside today, nobody to take a pic since I mostly ride alone (no one else has trials on my area), but did some pics to show nice ice and rocky track conditions and sharper hill crossings to tacke for today: BTW, despite coming from a hot country OSSA just loves ice!

  11. Cheers for the very constructive info guys! Decided to install the flywheel weight, had to get the puller (the cheaper 27mm Jitsie puller works just fab for OSSA!). Very nicely engineered flywheel (Made in Japan - Kokusan Denki), with hole outside the rim so you can lock it up with any DIY stuff, I used just the cover bolt and a hex key as seen on the pic: Weighted the flywheel, approx 2.5kg, thus the Btwice weight takes it to exacly 3kg overall, meaning it's just 20% of weight increase. Also the Btwice weight is a flat disc meaning the distribution is "milder" (vs Kokusan Denki flywheel where most of the weight is distributed to outer rim) Hence nothing radical in terms of rotational intertia "gain", I'm guessing around just between 10-13% of intertia increase when taking the flywheel weight distribution into account. Drilled two holes into flywheel and used "locking" nuts to fix it up: Fit nicely back on, locktited the bolts additionally and rotated to double check they don't touch the coils below the flywheel: Here's OSSA stock leveler vs Apico (GasGas Pro spec) leveler: Weather is milder today, so hopefully will do a practice run today and see how it feels.

    Factory R is my dream bike too, just wish I could afford one. If they ever did release 2015 f-R I guess the differences would be very minor over '14. So I reckon 2014 is as close to an excellent trials bike as it gets even today.
  14. Wowza, I knew OSSA was in cine industry before and know some guys are still really fanatical about the proper full 35mm cine projection, some even have rebuilt their homes for this - the best analog movie presentation I guess (unless you can afford to run the 60mm IMAX lol) Any OSSA bikes?

  18. I'm thinking we OSSA owners clearly go overboard thinking it's some science-fiction bike, albeit it may visually look like one. Doing some research actually most of the parts are compatible with other trials bikes (mostly GasGas). consumables, bearings, suspension, handlebar, wheels etc etc, all easily sourceable. So everything will be available as long as GasGas parts are available. OSSA-unique from the parts you may have have to replace once in a while are just the top end kit (minus bearings, probably also piston and conrod), gearbox (this not fully sure, some parts may be standards from elswhere if doing some research) and in case it brakes: EFI (the only part fully 100% OSSA speciefic) are only different and speciefic parts to OSSA brand. Frame and swingarm is also unique, but frame rarely brakes and if it does it's almost always repairable or fully remakable by even a very average-skilled mech shop. IMO this leaves a very limited list of OSSA "unique" parts you need for a long run, most of the stuff you need daily is easily sourcable on-the-go and no concern.
  19. There shouldn't be a problem using just a little thicker oil in 80W. Just let it warm up properly before you do any revving abuse so the main bearings get enough thin film of oil between to take the loads. You may also have a bit more clutch drag, but should be fine otherwise I reckon.
  20. I'll get one then. But just a curious question: can it be done without the puller? Is the puller's function just to keep the flywheel "fixed" while removing the central bolt?

  22. Yep, spot on! While it's not marked in any specs I found some nice OSSA EFI info here. Basically OSSA has built their own version of closed-loop EFI via pressure sensor (most EFIs use Lambda (O2-) sensor for mixture instead), hence it should adapt the correct mixture according to altitude. Case closed.
  23. I did my homework and fully aware this additional flywheel weight splits trials riders into two polar extreme ends with their opinions. Looks like the pros do not like the additional weight at all, while novices prefer it and sometimes mid-levels tend to prefer it. I can understand why many don't like it who get onto certain trials riding skill level. Long story short I'm not the only one who rides our TR280i in the family - my wife does also. While I'm nowhere near pro myself she's particulary a very novice, constantly stalling the bike on slow speed practices and she can barely start by herself (high compression head on our TR). Additional weight should considerably improve not stalling it on slow speed action and also considerably help it starting again when needed. So I thought I should try a additional weight for a season or two mainly for her and see how I can adapt to it myself with the additional revving intertia. To my surprise the weight is actually just under half a kilo and not as heavy as I expected compared in comparison to the massive magneto the TR has mounted already. I'd like to do more soft and loose surface riding in the coming summer so I'd be an experiment for myself as well to see if it improves the overall grip or not. Anyways, just me 2c.
  24. That's precisely an idea I had myself as well, the lever looks pretty bendable. Another question is fixing that weight on the flywheel - there's not much room there, must be some serously shallow bolts without touching the alternator wires below. Got to find some special bolts I guess...
