  1. Was getting excited when I heard the tyres were getting put on my GG today (2007 250 TXT Pro) now that the exhaust has been fixed.... they'd found an odd squeaking noise when kick starting the bike, thought maybe cylinder.... was running fine before it went in though. Later turned out to be the attached.... New rear rim required, pretty gubbed.... explains the slow puncture! Got new Michelin tyre but new rim required.... checked the parts manual and its available as rim and rim tape seperately. Any recommendations apart from get new spares pronto? Suppliers who ship overseas? Any other suggestions? Can you use tyre foam? (carried it in the cars for years but never actually used it)
  2. A wee update folks.... its coming back from the bike shop this week, went in to straighten the exhaust and fit new tyres.... exhaust fixed, will get some pics up at the weekend. New problem.... found cracked rear rim, new post to follow!
  3. Only looking at warming where it's bent in on itself at the top.... there will be some work hardening from when it yielded, just a little heat to reduce the risk of it cracking (too badly) when it's being straightened. What's inside the centre muffler? Is it baffled? Or packed?
  4. I get you.... I've got a blow torch as well.... was going to sit on it whilst it's on the box stand, heat it and try and push it straight, mrs will hold the bike steady. Good time to repack as well I guess. Will look at using some wood as a former/lever.
  5. Been a few weeks since my op so hand better now.... got round to stripping it today. A little heat and persuasion required, also a little welding. Think it may be blowing at the bend on the front as well, so not a bad time to whip it off. Pics below..... thoughts?
  6. Ha ha! More worried about getting the tail squared up than anything else. ? Google says it's probably just the bracket that's bent, sound about right?
  7. ??? any idea of how best to un-bent it?
  8. Long time no posts folks.... think I may have done my bike a mischief today. 2007 GG TXT Pro. Getting a screw out my hand and some tidy up work done tomorrow, so nipped out after work for a hour.... popped over an inclined rock I've done lots of times, nice wee kicker.... landed and the bars collapsed forward, banking straight after, tried to recover and gas up.... almost looped it! Thought I'd caught the wheelie but had to bail at the top and jumped off. Wasn't going hard and the bike and I didn't land too hard on some softish ground. Got home and set about straightening everything up and noticed this.... The first two photos are previous.... the rest are tonight.... Is this bent, or just shifted? Anyone else done this before? Copped a shed load from the mrs as well for going out night before my op.... this was another kick in the baws.
  9. Interesting development.... but so are two strokes.
  10. Rear brake a little also..... but definitely fixed now. Cats are all over it btw. ?
  11. Acerbis also make a tank mount extender tank for long runs..... my neighbour says he used to use them back home when doing long runs (he's a safa).
  12. Think coming directly from behind the sprocket....
  13. Just noticed recently a squeaking coming from here when practicing static balancing in the garage.... likely to be the wheel bearing? Or just the result of riding in some really dusty/sandy areas? Either way will strip and check but any pointers from experience appreciated. Cheers.
  14. Looks like it was partly a carburation issue.... made some tweaks and managed to get it starting/running well. Now kicks over easily hot or cold.
  15. Cheers..... what did he get banned for? Kickstart was loose which tells its own story..... stripped down and checked everything then adjusted the carb and it appears to be going ok. Fingers crossed!
  16. Think ? I've got it sussed..... carb adjustment issue also. Some tweaking but hopefully get there......
  17. That's the size needle jet I think actually?..... I didn't realise that the jet/float bowl bolt was the main jet on the GG/Dellorto carbs, not the case on the Keihin carbs on the KTM. Hadn't seen the numbers on that one, must have missed them.
  18. Cheers sectionone..... will get the plug out next time/if it dies on me like that again. That's the only thing I've not verified now.
  19. Been out in the garage again tonight, sure my neighbours must love me....! Here are my findings..... Gas Gas - Dellorto 26 PHBL Carb Details: Pilot Jet- 35 Choke Jet - 60 Main Jet - 270K Float Needle - INC (Red tip - no numbers) Float Jet - 200 Slide - 60 Needle - D36 Clip - 3/4 Idle Screw = ?? Air/Fuel Screw = ?? Starting from cold in garage (at ~25-30'C ambient, 50-70% RH, close to sea level), then latterly after running for a few mins and repeated starts, bike seems to favour choke + 1/2 to cracked wide open throttle to start, otherwise just splutters. Bike still not easy to start but now more likely to get it fired up with right twist/prod, etc. Plug cleaned and re-gapped but probably would benefit from a fresh plug. Didn't note idle & A/F screw positions but A/F responsive to 1/4 turn. Idle screw, responding over wider range. Questions: What are the base jetting and screw settings? Where can you find jetting tables?
  20. Where does the Kokusan unit come from? Different model/make? It's kokusan units on my KTMs.... my 2015 300 EXC hasn't been fired in about two months, went first kick. My old 2002 200 EXC also goes over with a couple of kicks and it's mostly idle now!
  21. Checked all the electrical connectors as well.... all ok. Time to get the thing back together..... Are the jet sizes marked on the edge of the carb jets?
  22. It's one of those anodised cap things (was on the bike when I got it) but yes, checked it first when I got the bike to see how it worked. Fuel flowing ok when I took the tank off.
  23. Got the bike stripped today.... findings: Carb boot had come loose on the airbox side, bike had sucked in some dust and was on the plug. Carb stripped and cleaned, a little crud in the bowl and float bowl plug/jet.... how do you measure the float height? Float needle was a little sticky..... square needle in round jet?! Reeds ok. Intake/crank ok. No water only either gummed old premix/carbon or maybe a little gear oil..... hard to tell. Plug wet/fouled..... had a few goes at starting to get the fuel through. Plug dark but cleaned up ok, some crud from bypassing of the filter. Gap was slightly out of tolerance (0.7-0.8 instead of 0.6-0.7), cleaned the plug up and set to 0.65. Spark.... wasn't convinced at first, didn't look clever and wasn't convinced. Checked it later however when in the garage, then noticed it was crackling in the magnetic bolt dish but a good strong blue arc from the dish to the cylinder head.... should be ok. Compression.... ~134psi after several stiff kicks. Looks ok. Anyone got a reference value? Never stripped the exhaust off.... need to take the shock off. Clever idea.... also rotten idea! Anything else to consider? If not will get it back together and see how she blows....
  24. OuiNon - no/maybe? Pretty desperately tried everything..... seems counter intuitive though, my KTM 525X has a big red anti-choke (hot start) knob to do just the opposite of that..... does it work for GG? heffergm - tried 1-3, thinking maybe higher but would need a big hill and some grip.... no danger of bumping my 300 EXC down a dune with no traction..... thump it and Gas it!
