  1. We have it! You just have to buy it. Our land host have a gift shop on their farm and sell there own Maple Syrup. I hope they start up the maple syrup cotton candy machine..........that is the best stuff ever.
  2. Take a look at Mountain Bike / Off-Road bicycle pads, I find they are less bulkly and provide the same protection.
  3. With regards to the bike lunging forward when popping in gear with the clutch in, I have encountered a similar problem with my 2001 Rev. My bike doesn't do it all the time. What I have discovered is that the problem, coincidentally, occurrs right about the time it is due an oil change every 20 hours or so. As soon as I change oil it goes away. I have tried a variety of oils, Ipone, Castrol, Elf, and Mobile 1. All have the same result. Another thing I have noticed is that it becomes harder to find neutral with the motor off, just about the time I change the oil. Has anyone tried the Mobile 1 transmission fluid??
  4. I'm an average rider $7,000!!! You got to be kidding
  5. They are a good quality and are light and cool for summer riding. They also have a winter weight, which has a soft lining. If you fall a lot you may find that the material tears easily, but that pretty much is true for most of the light lycra style gear. I occasionally wear knee/shin guards and have to struggle a bit to get the pants over them. Once on I find the guards tend to pull down on the pants as you flex the knees. Overall, they are as good as any other similar types I've seen or tried.

    Plonker

I knew when I posted the original message that some Plonker would reference the dictionary and come up with the UK definition for a particular appendage. I also figured the rest would have fun with that. But, moving beyond that, as Bikespace pointed out Ossa must have had some reason to call their bike a Plonker. I was wondering if perhaps this was a spanish word or some derivative of a spanish word much like many of the Bultaco models.
  7. Being a member of the Green Mountain Plonkers Trials Club in Vermont, I have often been asked what does "plonkers" mean. Growing up as a kid in the late 60s and 70s I always understood plonkers to mean one of two things. 1) How a trials bike sounded as it crawled over rocks and obstacles and 2) The act of crawling or plonking over rocks and obstacles. Can anyone elaborate where the word derived from? Is it Spanish as in the Ossa Plonker?

    Info Needed

I have had my 2001 Beta since new and never had a stator problem.
  9. What does everyone think about using a synthetic like Mobile 1 in a gearbox as opposed to Hypone, Elf, or other "motorcycle gear box" oils? I tried Mobile 1 and found no difference in performance than the Hypone. Mobile one is also a lot cheaper and more readily available. When I changed oil on the from the Mobile 1 the first time I notice the particulates stuck to the drain plug magnet were much finer than when I changed oil after using Hypone. Hypone seem to produce large chuncks. The clutch seem less grabby as I let it out, but this could just be my imagination. I one of those people who thinks my bike/car runs better after I wash it. I don't know what do you exerts think??
  10. Wal-Mart sells Simple Green. It washes a bike down real nice at a 50/50 mix with water. Full strength will cut through most mud and grime. I have never used it on a chain though.

    Drowning

Thanks for the info guys. I plan on running the bike each night for the next 4 or 5 night or so. I plan on flushing the bike through a couple more times with clean oil. With regards to the crank. I did load up the cylinder with WD-40 and let it sit overnight. I realize WD is not a lubricant, but it is very good at displacing water. Lastly, during my frequent oil changes I ran out of standard Ipon oil and had to resort to what I had on the shelf. I mixed about 50 50 Castrol and ELF gear box, that seemed to work well. I then changed the oil out again, but had to use Mobile 1 5w30 Synthetic. I rode the bike around and whow the clutch and shifting seem to run so mutch smoother than any other "bike oil" I have tried. Has anyone else every used Mobile 1????

    Drowning

I drowned by Rev 3 in some fairly deep water this past week. I had to flip the bike over and pump the water out of the cylindar. I also did the following: -took apart the carb -cleaned out the airbox. -removed the right side flywheel cover, dried and sprayed with WD40 -changed the gearbox oil three times, running the bike briefly after each oil change. The last change showed no signs of water. Is there anything I did wrong or something I should do and I haven't? thanks

    2001 Rev 3

I have had my 01 Rev 250 since new after selling my 95 Techno. I have had no unusual problems with this bike. It runs and shifts as clean as the day I got it. I have never had any issues with the airbox and I have been in some seriously deep water. The 01 is a vast improvement over my old 95 Techno. It literally made me a better rider. I have toyed with the idea of buying a new Rev, but just can't imagine any of them being substantially better. Besides the 01 has the best color / graphics of any of the Revs.
  15. So is that also in order of least frame cracking problems to most frame cracking problems?
