  1. If you use good ol e bay, try cyclesavant who is a mine of info on Vintage montesa's (although is based in the states; ) Seems like a really nice guy, who has answered various questions I've asked him. Just had a look and he is listing a cota 123 kick start drive gear items. as well as transmission items Hope that helps Andy
  2. Cheers for that............don't have a frame to convert though;
  3. Thanks.........will google them.
  4. Are these frames still being produced ? I know 175 ones are, but 250 ones ?
  5. Hi Jordan, 123 monty has a perculiar 'selection' shaft which can cause issues, (end away from gear shift lever) = on mine it has been repaired. Maybe's worth an casing strip to investigate. Parts for this model are not the easiest to find.............mines now down due to finding cracked flywheel, and none of he usual parts folk are able to help. all the best Andy,
  6. Drips only came to light after draining and re-filling, so poss overfilled slightly, although pretty sure not done so. Good point re the breather, though.
  7. When running, I've oil dripping from gear change shaft, easy fix or engine split ? Ty250s
  8. Hi Nick, Horsham have a couple of trials clubs also. Will be getting out some more in 2020, very much a 'wobbler' and totally non competitive. Need to get my 'bike legs' back for Scotland in june. All the best Andy
  9. I tend to use Aspen even in my metal tanked 348 and 247 cota's as well as in the plastic 250 mono yam and 123 cota's thinking behind regarding the metal tanked bikes is ok I know ethanol won't affect these tanks, but the stuff will still be sitting in carbs etc. (and I don't want the fuff of enptying tanks/draining carbs every time I've used any of them.
  10. Hi Monty247 I returned to the Trials fold after a 30ish year break, (use to ride both Honda TL150 and Kawasaki KT250),........and for me, made the mistake of buying a 315r, nothing wrong with the bike, BUT there was with my confidence (and riding ability on it - once a wobbler, still a wobbler ) It was way to good, and I actually frightened myself on it, (not good)............Now back on Twinshock(s) and far, far happier.
  11. Way back I owned both a Honda TL (four stroke) and a Kawasaki KT (two stroke), whilst the KT wasn't overly noisy ticking over, once it was moving it did sound louder, although not overly so; The TL, on tick almost silent, and once moving very quiet, Both on standard exhaust systems, etc.
  12. All being well I'll be up to watch, again..............maybe's contact club beforehand once its a booked off work with offer to help observe.
  13. Visited at Highland Classic, this year............WOW, blown away by the sections, - and surrounding area! ( followed the course, just getting to the sections was like walking one long section;) Certainly one my 'would love to do list......but coming from the chalk and clay based south, rock is summat not ridden, - yet.
  14. Certainly think you could well be right..............also, and this idea has already been raised elsewhere is, as sections are getting much more technical than previously, (where in section one was riding against natural features) certainly anyone with a little interest looking at what trials is about today, may well be put off by the acrobatics needed to ride modern sections. Quite a few area's have ground that for a long time had been used to lay out challenging - but safe sections, now not being used as its not technical (hard) enough for the types of machinery being ridden, be it twin shock/per 65 etc. Interesting topic,
  15. Contact the fuel company's in your area and ask specifically which of their garages stock non ethanol super uleaded fuel. (reason for using your area is some companys who do ethanol free super unleaded, do not supply it to ALL their forecourts.) Aspen is one way to go, (and I've also got a 123 cota which I'll be running it on, when its up and ready), Shell have always refused to answer direct questions re ethanol in their fuel, so draw your own conclusions from that.
  16. I've got Aspen mixture for the 123 as its the non metal tanked version.............not back together at the mo, so cannot comment on running issues. I do know there are a couple of company's who produce non ethanol fuel, in their Super Unleaded range. Murco and Texaco (although NOT in all area's of the uk) I'll be firing off emails to all the company's local to me to get their answers at a later date. (as you say Aspen is expensive.......but I am led to believe it can be left in tank as it doesn't go 'off')
  17. By my saying Major factor, here I was referring more to the swing to electric propelled vehicles; Already citys are looking to ban (or cut right down at the very least0 fossil fuelled vehicles (ok diesel at the mo), and certainly the government - at one time, (maybe still for all I know) were looking at introducing 'sweetners' to those who took up using electric vehicles. fast recharging points,.....I've heard of some that will charge, fron zero to full in half an hour (ok no good if your out for the day in the boonies..........) - but like most things once the technology is gained, things get quicker, (and smaller) Having used an electric pushbike, I was amazed how close I could get to wildlife (and ok its not trials related, I know........but silence, sometimes, is golden.
  18. I think there is a genuine swelling of interest in Electric power, be it Trials (Yamaha wouldn't be pushing its development if it wasn't going to become a major factor in a few years), to all roads machines At present, biggest hurdle is battery capacity, and the real time lack of fast recharging points...............but these will come.
  19. Interesting topic...gonna throw a spanner here, though................, there is really NO current trials iron I'd want, (I'm not good enough to ride them)...........or the sections as they are today,..........BUT there are a few 'older' models I'd like to ride (and ok, fall off as well ) RTL Honda Gollner KT250 Kawasaki (the re-framed yellow version) Not including Montesa's, as I'm happy with those I have.......
  20. I'm guessing kick start clears it as well, which is a bonus.........
  21. Nice..........have you re-positioned your footrests ?
