  1. Cracking event...............walked the sections on the Sat........hail, thunder and lightening to make sure I didn't get too warm........., just getting to sections would be classed in the 'expert' ratings down here........... going to get my finger out, prepare Mont for rocks, (better bash plate etc) and hope to get an entry for next year...........SWM Edition.
  2. Here are my three........... Firstly, 1976 Malcolm Rathmell Replica cota 348 next 1978 cota 247 lastly cota 123 - work in progress.....(172 head, 21" front wheel/tyre and 18" rear)
  3. So given that this picture shows a late model 247.........I'm confused re the swing arm and it's chain oiler, I believed this item to have only been fitted to early 247's.............(ok as swing arms are same length etc can see it could have gained it during its life, - and what a good idea they were imo)
  4. oops................twitchy finger, I guess..........
  5. Will be traveling up from Sussex to watch this event 9 & 10 june. Anyone from the forum also going ?
  6. Interesting , in the pic of air cleaner,............swing arm shows cap for chain oiler, I understand this feature was only on the early 247's...........although I'm happy to be proved wrong; Certainly mine does not have this feature.
  7. Thanks for pointer, must admit to thinking it was at a funny angle. At present going around it just sussing out things to be done.............there is no chain tensioner fitted for example, where as I'm pretty sure originaly it would have had one (and there is a bracket halfway along swing arm which I guess is its location) Re Mk1 Amal, is this a known fault with this model carb ? - and if so, how do users get around it, (yes I know there are other carbs out there often fitted...which is obviously an option if needed)
  8. Thanks. yes, although by someone far more talented than myself..........
  9. On both my cota 123 and 348 there is the 'embossed' M on both lower fork legs, on my newly acquired cota 247 'montesa' is 'embossed'.......348 is 1976 Malcolm Rathmell rep, 123 is also around mid 70's,...........and the 247 is 1978. Anyone know reason for change..........?
  10. Well with the upsurge of Twinshock trials events being held almost nationwide, now......it could well sell. I'd certainly seriously consider one.
  11. That's got to be more than one van load..............not been to their place so don't know area, but hopefully there will be cctv recording of the scumbags............(although probably vehicle(s) used are most likely nicked.......and burned out now !)
  12. Not just green, it seems............I was offered a very faded Gold/Yellow coloured , metal tank under cover 123 cota a little while ago; twas a mini time warp piece, still on its orig Pirelli 20" ft and 17"r tyres. Stupidly I walked away and didn't buy it................
  13. I'm not............I've already got a cota 123 and 348, (also a 315r) want to stay Montesa, as that's where the depth of my (very limited) knowledge lies. + Ossa's and Bultaco's kickstarts are on 'wrong side' for me (knackered left knee)...........
  14. ........Hmm, think I'm going off the idea of a 242; Think I'll look about for a good 247.
  15. Cheers for these views, guys.............Hmm interesting situation re kickstart mechanism, pschrauber.
  16. Having no experience on any of the above models, those who do own and ride them, can you give me your findings .....Both good and no so. Looking to buy either, so interested in 'real world' views. Cheers Andy
  17. Hi Radders, 315r is up for sale, as its not for me ! Lovely bike and all that, far too advanced for me. Quite happy to stay twinshock (s), gotta go with whats comfy and instils confidence, I guess. (Still going to be crap, though........)
  18. There is a waterproof 'sock' available for Forma Boulders
  19. Hi there, 50 something returnee to the feet up game, (last time over 30 years ago with a Golner kt250 ) jumped straight in and brought a '97 315r Montesa/Honda...Umm eeek ! No no no......whilst that's still sat in garage, have returned to sanity, (and able to touch the ground) with a brace of twinshock Montesa cota's, a 123 and a 348 Malcolm Rathmell rep.
