  1. Hi OTF: I broke the electronic ignition of my 197 James somewhere up in the moors on friday. 2 hours pushing in the mud. I drove on saturday a Comeford
  2. Hi OTF: I can have a 28 Bing for you ready when you come to Robregordo. You can also use a DellOrto PHBH it works very good in the 340.
  3. Congratulations Paul. It looks light and competitive. As you say now all the real work starts, but it is fun to make it and to improve it. I look forward to see you in the sections with it in Derbyshire ASAP. My frame is coming in May......

    Big John

Beers in May? Talking about trials? Maybe with a European Champion, a World Champion and Mr. BJ? I can
  5. I agree with Woody. Any bike has to be rided, let
  6. I am not shure about the Hidrobags. I had one of the first 348 MRR in January 1976 and I can clearly remember the Hidrobags on it. But maybe I am not correct. Spanish Federation admits 348 MMR as Pre-77 with frame number below 51M11307. Carb was Amal 2626/402-27
  7. Hi Dave: I drove a 348 Malcolm Rathmell in the Spanish junior championship in 1976. Those bikes where built between 1976 and 1979. Your bike 51M7995 was built in 1978, there where a total of 15,700 units produced from that model. It is a very nice bike and very good for twinshock trials. It is the most complete and original 348 I have ever seen, even the Hidrobag shocks and mudguards. Lucky man, I am looking for one for me and would like to find something as good as you bike. By the way
  8. Difficult to answer this one. Oil is very important, so you better try and try, but start with your number 2 (Fit Progressive springs.......) and try different spacer lengths and oil. We have a common friend in Derbishire that knows something about those James, maybe he knows.....
  9. In fact those 2 models 199 and 198 where myne. I selled them both in the show. Both where used by me and restored by me the last year. Now I have some money for new toys
  10. In Spain we say that the only difference between a boy and a man is the price of their toys. Have a small look to this "Toy Shop": http://img339.imageshack.us/img339/7200/caprasbs1.jpg http://img329.imageshack.us/img329/1639/cota247cmg4.jpg http://img339.imageshack.us/img339/6301/cotamkiioz0.jpg http://img339.imageshack.us/img339/4024/cotashf7.jpg http://img329.imageshack.us/img329/2623/ivancirrero4.jpg http://img339.imageshack.us/img339/7505/matadornh9.jpg http://img300.imageshack.us/img300/9103/modelo49ul1.jpg http://img300.imageshack.us/img300/6713/ossaht5.jpg http://img300.imageshack.us/img300/5271/ossamotoballtb4.jpg http://img329.imageshack.us/img329/8968/phamtomqm1.jpg http://img339.imageshack.us/img339/9928/trialerasow3.jpg http://img339.imageshack.us/img339/7658/trialeras2va3.jpg
  11. Mr. Old Trials Fanatic: Your words are nice. Thank you. This Ossa beauty will race in Robregordo 2007 driven by my friend. I have just read the next from you profile: Location: Derbyshire Interests: Motor Cycles, Skiing, Cars, Gardening, Fish, Drinking and Women but sometimes in a different order. I have some good friends in Derbyshire, and know the place. Good place to live. About your interests, we share all of them, but not exactly in that order in my case. You are most wellcome to Robregordo whenever you decide to come. Just let me know in advance to help you with your arrangements here. I am lucky enough to have an entry for the Scottish pre-65 (racing with a British bike of course), so
  12. This Friday, Saturday and Sunday in Madrid we have the classic bike show. A good friend has been preparing a Spanish Pre-65 bike for the last year as a Top Secret. Nobody new what he was working on. Today I took 2 of my Bultacos to the show for sale, and there was my friend preparing his bike in a stand covered with a canvas. I beg him hundred times to show me the bike before tomorrow, and at last he said yes. What I saw there was the most beautifull trials bike I have ever seen, thousands of hours of work and so much love to trials into it. And he says it works perfectly

    Montesa 242

As TooFastTim says, a little delicate, and also quite difficult to find spare parts, even in Spain.
  14. 2 picks of a model 80 recently restored: http://img444.imageshack.us/img444/4740/modelo80aku0.png http://img444.imageshack.us/img444/8066/modelo80bqu4.png The front brake and hub is ok, but lever should face rear not forward.
  15. This is how yor bike should be: http://img444.imageshack.us/img444/2269/bultaco80vt1.jpg http://img108.imageshack.us/img108/2872/bultaco802xk7.jpg http://img444.imageshack.us/img444/1713/bultaco803fc2.jpg http://img108.imageshack.us/img108/8804/bultaco804wj7.jpg
  16. The original colour for that frame is RAL 5015. You can have a look to the colour here: http://www.servikios.com/productos/gamaral.htm
  17. Hi Scotty: First of all it is important to know the model. Can you check both frame and engine numbers?? The 2 first digits are the model number, and they should be the same. Knowing this I can help you with your bike. It looks to me as a model 80 or an early model 91 or 92. But maybe it is a model 49 with a lot of later pieces in it.
  18. Martin: Do you know if they still sell that alloy tank???? IT IS BEAUTIFULL. I would really love one of those in one of my Bultaco.
  19. Mr. Big John already new about this, and the tickets were his pocket one month ago
  20. For those interested Yrjo Vesterinen will race again riding a Bultaco Sherpa 199B in Robregordo 2 Days classic Trial 2007.
  21. I forgot: Wen in Murcia; if you enjoy lonely and unspoiled beaches, visit a little village called Calblanque, the road to go there is a sand road between La Manga Club and La Manga town. A Natural Park with the most amazing untouched and unspoiled beaches. Fossile dunes, flamingos and herons if you are lucky. Unfortunately no trials there. http://img169.imageshack.us/img169/8624/dsc009588tg.jpg Enjoy.
  22. Hi Scotty: Visit www.lamaneta.org this is a hughe webb about classic bikes, his owner is from Murcia region, and I am shure he will be glad to help. Nice man, his name is Ramon and you can find the email in his webb. I am shure there is something to see and some private collections arround, he will help you. I met him last year in Stafford during the show, when I visited it with Mick Andrews and Jon Tye.
