  1. anyone seen any results from the trial? - a great event 20 sections, 2 long laps & all double subs - a great warm up for the Cleveland. I will definatly be coming back for more. My thanks to all involved.
  2. Nice to see that more of the clubs in the E.Yorks centre are joining the flag revolution started by Middlesbrough DMC. With Hull AC already on board, Thirsk went this way at the recent event & Scarbrough (who offered a 3rd course previous, though at the hard end) are going to give it a go. Of all the riders i have spoke to this system is fast gathering support & now with clubs 'Moving over to the Green side' I believe our trials will genuinely offer more to more riders. With there been 3 clear courses (for the 4 classes), if all clubs bought into this we could go back to the 'Old' class names - EXP - INTER - NOV - C/MAN. Anyone got any views on this?
  3. A date for your diary folks. Those of you not going to Scotland this year, Middlesbrough DMC will be running a Clubman 2-day trial on 7/8 May at Lordstones, Carlton Bank, N.Yorks. Sections will be dual route with classes for Clubman A&B, Youth (over the 2 routes) & hopefully Twinshock / Pre-65 over the 2 routes also (TBC) - Start times are still to be confirmed (watch this space). There will be camping on the Saturday - again more details to follow, the start on ssaturday is likely to be late afternoon - so plenty of time to get there & put up your tent. This is a great Clubman venue, incl a couple of good rock gullys & decent ride round, for those not been before i will try to get a few photo's on when i next go up. My e-mail is on the web site for any questions, or just leave a post here This event is as well as its charity 2 day in September @ Fryup - so two 2 days this year! Hope to see you there IMPORTANT NOTE:- The club ran 2 Clubman only trials up there last year with great success, which has led to the land owner granting permission for the 2 day, on the proviso his regular cafe customers are not inconvened in any way, so in reality 2011 is a 'trial year' (pardon the pun) - as a result unauthorised riding will not be tolerated at any time
  4. Probably no further in time, still a good 80-90mins to harwood dale from my house, & ridden there hundreds of times - i don't get out too regular these days, so somewhere new is always welcome. Cheers Steve
  5. Please can anyone give me any details on the above trial this sunday - 10 am is this start time correct? Is it a long ride round? Is the event closed to club or open to centre. Anyone been there before - whats it like? Thanks
  6. Looking Forward to riding the new sections & riding the route through the new wood section - lets hope mother nature is kind, relatively & they come off.
  7. Hear Hear !! It is great to hear so many very similar views from guys all around the country - we all appear though to be the ones sticking the flags in! If we are prepared to put even extra work in of our own time to benefit the entry, we must have something. Would be nice to get more feedback from the riders that use this site........................... Is it what they want?
  8. ACU has some slightly strange names for some of the centres - east yorks covers the northern part of N.Yorks, then goes down the east coast as far as the river Humber.
  9. Whats your view on this guys??? I ride in the E.Yorks centre, where the debate is simmering nicely. Previously clubs ran with Red/Blue flags, then an easier variation with Yellows. Classes then did either all hard / all easy or a number of sections somewhere inbetween. Now several clubs (of which Middlesbrrough was a pioneer) are running another set of flags - Greens........ Reason....... This allows the Exp some tough Expert only sections, allowing the Inter to drop to the green route (thus not riding the proper easy route). The Greens (we call Clubman A) - get a route just for them & they do not have to ride any full hard route section. The Yellow (we call Clubman - get a route just for them & some of the sections do not have to be stiffened up to allow Clubman A (Green) a challenge....... Result (we Think) A more overall balanced trial, giving more riders the challenge they want / need. The clubs feedback so far has in general been very favourable - as you all know the spectrum of ability from top to bottom is 'light years', but niether rider is any less deserving of a good days sport. What are you views on these systems - Not just in the E.Yorks but around the country - what systems would you like to see? Your views would be most welcome..................................
  10. Just about to leave - to help wrighty with the last chopping out & stick some flags in NEW holes - then off for a pint or 2, or 3 or 4........ Somehow it did not not make into the regs in TMX - i can assure you the trial is ON ( 'Dicko' did put in a good article in Trials torque - & it should be a good un). Even mother nature may be kind this year - fingers crossed! If anyone drops myself or Paul a call - we may take a while to pick it up as the signal is patchy up there to say the least - but we will return it once we get it. Anyway thats enough of me droning on - see you up there.............
  11. Should be a good do - hoping on finer weather than last year - it's a good cause as well. Hoping to include some new sections, both in the wood & out on the hill-side, so give a longer lap each day. The 2 way traffic issue is also sorted (for those who rode last year) - only part now will be going through 2 gates. If anyone can observe - your help would be appreciated. See you next weekend - hopefully for both days....................................
  12. Wish i'd been therePaul....... Thats 2 years in a row i have missed now. Fingers crossed for next year. Well done mate - scores look about spot on.
  13. I am having a similar problem, as mentioned earlier.... Have you had the stator re- wound? If so has this worked?
  14. Bought some Hebo Eco - they have been absolutely rubbish, the list of problems is long - i will definatly not buy a pair of these ever again. If i was given some i would sell them - Rubbish. Before the hebo i had Forma Gripper - had them for 3 years - superb, comfy & strong - even the sole has not broken up, which happens commonly on trials boots, as you are stood up so much. I kept these as spare & after 6 months of the hebo Eco i am wearing the Forma again.
  15. Trial is going ahead as planned.... 10 sections flagged out - Nothing silly, for any class, those that know of the venue will know of its notoriety, well haveing spent all day up there today...... I can confirm that it seems to ride well, there is only a little snow in places, dissapearing as i type this & despite the recent weather will still be a good ride round - The guys have included both woods, but generally steered clear of the Mud. A good days sport is predicted with 3 laps of riding. The parking area is totally clear of snow now, it is vitually impossible to get stuck in this very flat compact area. Have Fun - Start is 10.30
  16. Been up to the parking area this morning - no real issues for parking, most of the snow was gone here & the rest thawnig nice - Signs looking very promising.....
  17. Middlesbrough DMC still plan to run on Sunday at lazenby. Please put the word out Paul wright is C.O.C, helped by brother Mike & yours truly.... Will make for an interesting days sport. If anything changes will advise on this posting, but i'll probably put a posting on it's own also. See you all Sunday - Fingers Crossed!
  18. The bottom photo - front row - from the right, I thought it was Paul Furniss, then it's Anthony Tempest (still riding), then Simon ???, Steve Wallin, me, Gary I anson (i think)
  19. Please can you pass on the following info to all potential riders of Middlesbroughs Clubman event on Oct 11th (Sunday) The above evnet was originally planned for Beak Hills Farm, however having found out late that it is double booked with the local Shooting syndicate, we had to find somewhere at very short notice. Kindly Guisbrough Motor Club has given permission to use Slapewath Nr Charltons. The trial is still a Clubman only event (though everyone is welcome) with seperate routes for Cluman A & B, the same team is putting on the sections, even though we are Middlebrough club lads we know the venue well, so the lap should be a good ride round with sections to suit. Start has been moved to 11am, & the 'double bill' concept intended for Beak hills will just be a straight 4 laps. Should still be a good do - with nothing silly. Please put out the word to any would be riders you may know, any questions, please just post on this subject. Also Thanks again to Guisbrough, without whom we would have had to cancel. Regards Steve
  20. Thanks for the comments gents, Totally agree with you John regarding the 2 way traffic as well. We will start planning next years event as soon as the Cleveland is out of the way - when we can see how the land looks before it is overgrown. There is a lot more scope - we only used a fraction of the wood - this extends, about another half mile the other way where i am led to believe finishes with another rocky gully.plenty further back. Also the section where my dad observed on the Sunday - the rock strewn hill side facing that has not even been looked at, then to finish off down in the valley there are several rocky stream gullies to be explored. I think it may take a few years before we are running at it's full potential. but it should get bigger & better each year - Hopefully we will be blessed with better weather next year & more will stay over, just to enhance it further. Paul Has a copy of some photos taken by Mrs Lees - when he is next in the club they will go onto the web site, I am told there are some crackers & to watch out for a 'great' one of Baz Chapman
  21. Lets hope for more of the same in the last round.....
  22. The 1st 2 day at its new venue @ woodhead farm Fryup ran at the weekend - it was well supported (for a 1st attempt) with 106 accross the weekend. The club trialled a new flagging system (3 routes), that like anything takes time to get used to, how did you find it? any opinion? The route had to be dramatically altered for the Sunday due to the wet weather on the Thurs & Fri, the land cut up in areas - any opinions? The venue as a whole - any comments / opinions, the club hopes to build on the 1st attempt & has earmarked some of it's Large trophies from Yesteryear to present to class winners. Did you enjoy it? if so why (will you back next year) or if not why, all feedback can help. As a charity event (Great North Air ambulance) the level of peoples generosity was incredible - havent got a final total yet, but looks to be close to
  23. Some how came across this tonite, not sure how as it is a year old now, but just to confirm some of the names / info, The guy at the right (back) is John wallin (he was Gusbro club youth secratary), the gauy to his left is Alan Stewart - we was was a british road race champ & was there to present the awards. The lad at the front with the long blond hair is Paul Waugh, Third from right is Steve (or stivie as we was known) Wallin, i believe was british C&D champ on a TY80 & a SWM 75. Trevor Buckworth is Joes Uncle, Joes dad was Ron, What ever happened to Joe, i remember he had a lot of potential & was centre champ very young. As a C class rider i got the opportunity to 'warm' up his tl 320 SWM up at the start of the East Yorks 2 day behind the flask in & promptly fell off & snapped his clutch lever.
  24. I have followed this debate for a while now & everyone who is involved in trials at any level has there opinion. This debate seems to have split in 2 - one for club level & one at National / International. For local events (speaking as a clerk of the course), the ability spectrum is massive & growing all the time - so unless you run totally seperate trials, different routes in each section are very importatant to ensure you get your event supported by riders each time, with regards to the rules - depending on how you plot the sections will dictate how most riders will ride a section. I agree that mutiple routes can be confusing - we are about to trial a new system @ our 2 day this weekend (Middlebrough DMC), where we give even more options, but by giving clear instructions / Colourcoding & briefing the observers i believe it can successful, Please come this weekend, ride, spectate, observe & give your feedback - the more aspects we get the better we can make it. On the international front - here is my take on the whole thing...... Definately go back to no stop - Bou & Raga, are the best in the world & still will be the best in the world, regardless of rules, however the sections will be less intimidating / dangerous & will ultimatly attract more entries to the premier class. This alone however will not rescue the championship, what i would propose is ...... Still have dual sections, currently 3 routes, but invite the 'local' nations National riders to take part on the middle route (regardless of whether they are eligable for any of the championships), as a 'wild' card. The oportunity of riding in such a large event, will have them queing for an entry - This would swell the numbers in each country a lot. Also what about introducing a 'veterans' championship (over 40's), similar to Moto-X over a shorter series, maybe 4 or 5 rounds, agin over one of the easier routes. What do you think?
  25. Just An update for the Middlesbrough 2 Day, The farmer is happy for some people (if you are staying over) for them to arrive on the friday Evening especially if you are travelling a few miles. If you are doing this please can you just give me a quick call / txt on 07826815871 (steve). The lane / Bridleway through the farm to the start field is a little rough, for those that remember Woodhouse farm (Gt Ayton), similar to that - there is also a short incline along part, although i will not say No Caravans, this is just to make you aware if you plan on a caravan. Toilets should be at the venue, but no water, so please bring you own. The farmer is happy with BBQs, but no open fires please. Just a reminder that this is a Charity event - GREAT NORTH AIR AMBULANCE - as well as a raffle with bike related prizes, the club will donate some of the entry. Single days permitted. Any Questions, please call me - Otherwise see you there Oh Yes, Paul Wright has aquired the Trials game for the X box - he said he will take on all comers over the weekend! - sounds like a challenge to me?
