Hi all, recently bought an 02 gas gas txt pro in an attempt at getting back into trials. bikes perfect but the clutch is reall really stiff. When i bought it the bike was still slightly pulling when the clutch was pulled in but not enough to stall the bike. A bit of adjustment soon sorted this. However its still stiff. Was just wondering if anyone knew what this could be?
Thanks in advance,
Jonny

I was going to buy a pair of the alpine stars, but when i went to the shop (wont name names but its a big, very well known shop) i was told to stay well clear, and that its mostly the younger lads that buy them because they want to wear the same boots as lampkin. but they said the amount they get back due to various problems is stupid. so i bought some Hebo ones instead. After talking to the guys at said shop id never buy a pair.

ah yes,
yeah i decided i wanted a change in the end,
thanks for your help,

Hi all,
the right hand side engine case on my 2000 Montesa is pretty scratched, so i thought id take it off and polish it, i asked a mate and he told me that this side should not have any oil behind it as it was the oppisite side to the clutch (i myself know nothing about motorbikes) however when i started to take the casing off oil started to drip from behind it, now having been told there was no oil nehind this side i imediatly tightened the case back up,
can anyone tell me A) If this is normal and im being stupid.
OR
B ) Whats f*cked?
Any help would be great,
Ta,
A very worried Jonno....

Just listened to the knock and it is there when reving it but only quietly, my mate rang sandifords and they said that they thought it was a bearing in or around the clutch does this sound likely? i dont know anything about engines myself so,
-
only really when the bike is on tick over, not all the way up the rev range,
-
I've Heard this knock, Its almost like a chattering (but def a knock rather than a rattle) coming from the clutch side.
-
No thats true, thanks for the comments so far guys
-
He's a lorry driver so works away a lot, hence getting hold of the bike is not as easy as it sounds.

But, if your Beta is in "very good condition" and the Montesa is only "average condition for it's age", then why are you considering it?
because its a newer bike, and if my sources are correct the montesa is slightly lighter
-
because i dont want to damage it, i just thought id ask people opinions.
-
Hi all,
i currently ride a Beta Techno (1999) which is in very good condition, however im looking at selling it and buying a Montesa 315 (2000) which is average condition for its age, my question is, is it worth while? In most peoples opinion is this going to be an upgrade of bike with it being a year newer or will it make no difference what so ever? Money is not a problem as its a friends Fathers bike so i can get it at a good price. And will there be much difference in weight? Also if people have changed from Beta to Montesa or Vice versa id like to know their opinions as iv been told il struggle on the hill climbs ect on a montesa after riding the beta for so long (something about having to do them in 3rd instead of 4th?)
Thanks for any help in advance.

would be about 800, however it is a MINT example. stored inside the house, had lots spent on it on extras ect ect
-
if you decide to go for a techno get in touch as i may have one for sale.

Hi all, my rear brake lever/pedal was nearly touching the bash plate before it had any effect, so first thing i did was give it a re bleed, which made it feel firmer when it did lock but there was still a lot of travel until it did anything, so i replaced the pads, however the pedal is still only just about the bash plate before the brake starts to work, any ideas?
many thanks

Just wondering, i have a Beta techno 99, but recently iv been 'worried' about its weight, as in, is it regarded to be a stupid heavy bike compared to todays standards or am i just being stupid? i want to start comps but am i wasting my time on this bike? also does anyone know how much it actually weighs?
cheers
