Er i think i may know why... It seems from the picture of an 07 bike i have just seen that i may be missing some sort of chain stay plastic bit????? Was this a standard part on an 06? Or is this an addition? Edit: Sorry I am ridding an 06 caby

I noticed to my horror that my new boots had developed a nice hole where the chain has been rubbing on them when i am grasping the bike with my legs/feet. Tape only lasts 2 minutes then it wears through...... It has also happened on a much smaller scale on the other boot. Possibily from where the bolt heads are situated. Has anybody else had this....if so how did you stop it from happening again?

I am thinking about getting some insurance for my trails bike as a few have been pinched around here recently. I dont ever ride the bike on the road and its delared sorn. A few options: Get it insured under my house insurance..but not sure if this would cover me if a gang kicked me off it whilst out??? Investigate how much it would cost with an insurance company. The problem I have is is it worth it? and what comapanies should i try for a quote? The bike is probably worth 2 grand

Im not sure if your serious or not???? Anyway I am not about to start driling my nice Keihin to re route a pipe. Stainess steel braided hose seems the answer but not sure where to get it from in the size/length i want??

I was a bit shocked to see the carb breather pipe had melted right through on the exhaust side With this in mind I am now keen to replace the pipe and protect the more important fuel pipe that also had a tendancy to rest on the exhaust. Not good. I am running the Keihin carb so there is not much room for the pipes. I am quite suprised how hot this Sherco runs to be honest, the engine warms in no time compared to a Rev3. What do you use if anything to protect this pipe? I was thinking of getting some stainless braid or even some heat resistant pipe. Would aluminium heat resistant tape be enough should the pipe rest on the exhaust?

I am going to use a heated glue gun and hope for the best. Hey you never know it might still be on the bike when I come home from a trial

Not sure of exact measurements but the ones you want are 6004 2RS if you search ebay for something like Sherco wheel bearings you should get three places that sell them.

I am wanting to set the suspension on my 06 Caby back to standard on both the forks and the rear spring but cant for the life of me find anywhere that has them listed..... What im after is something like front - left leg 3 turns in right leg two clicks - Rear - 2 tuens from fully open or something like that. Can anyone help?

Thanks Copemech its reassuring that ive actually got an 06 cover! The cover does not seem warped but im going to install the cover with the o ring and a load of gasket sealant. I will hope for the best and then recheck. I was worried that by not sealing it properly I would experience the same stator failure as I have had in the past with a Beta. Saying that it was probably down to a design fault with the stators....... Thanks

Thanks Copemech perhaps its my cover as to be honest i would not know. The cover may be off another Sherco.....i have only had the bike for a month so i would not know... I have taken a few pictures of the cover both on and off the bike. You can actually see the slot/hole. Just washed my bike for the first time (an 06 Cabestany) with a normal hose. I removed the stator plastic cover and water/crap poored out! I am used to removing the cover as I used to run a Beta, but this cover is just pants! Even when tightened there is a gap near where the wiring goes in. This just lets all the muck in! There are two schools of thought that I am playing with..... 1. Seal it up with gasket sealant (but if water gets in it cant get out) 2. Remove the cover after each ride and the stator plate and clean up (nah thats a crap idea) So I can't be the only one with this problem. I am sure I have read of someone using a later model cover which is better???but dont know which... What have you guys done to get round this obvious design fault? Thanks

After tricky times with the Beta Ive migrated to a Sherco! I have recently moved to a Sherco and kept the Rev3 as a second bike which I will probably pass on to a mate of mine. Well the move to the Sherco has been dramatic! The bike is so different! I have bought a 06 Cabestany replica which needs a few things sorting before I take it out. First port of call is to make the bike winter proof as the airbox/carb and air filter was covered in muck! (not a good sign) So I am off to buy a new filter and refit but can't see how I can stop all the muck coming in from the back wheel. I have had a look on the sherco site and it basically recommends fixing up the gap between the rear mudgauard and airbox with gaffer tape. Although temporarily effective ist a bit of a bodge! To make things worse the plastic flap part of the rear mudguard has snapped off! Im thinking that I should get a YOU HAVE USED WORDS OR A PHRASE WHICH ARE NOT PERMITTED ON THIS WEBSITE. PLEASE DELETE YOUR POST/TOPIC. DO NOT TRY TO CIRCUMVENT THE FILTERS IN PLACE ON THIS WEBSITE mud guard to protect engine and a front mudflap. I have done the mesh mod on the holes in the mudguard but feel dubious about modding the filter itself. How else can I protect the airfilter from muck getting in? Draft excluder??? Forgot to say does anyone use a rear shock mudguard as it seems quite vunerable? How have you attached it?

Mate of mine has a (supposedly lightweight) Dave cooper trailer that he needs to carry around the back of his house each time he comes back from a ride. He is about the kill himself doing this as he has to put the trailer on its side and carry it up three steps. Does anyone know of an easy way or mod to make carrying it a bit easier???? A dolly perhaps? Thanks
