  1. Hi, does anyone know if you can get a bike on the back of a honda crv with the spare wheel on the back door? Will it fit with the spare wheel off or does the frame that holds the wheel still get in the way? It's an 05 crv if it helps.
  2. Thanks for all your help guys. Ill let you know how it goes!!!!!
  3. Thanks for the info guys. Just rang my local trials shop and spoke to them and they said they would do the crank seals and bearings if need doing. Hopefully that will be everything that's wrong with it. I assume that's why the bike has been running weak lately. Is there anything else I should get looked at while it is in? When I just drained the oil it was quite thin and smelt like it had loads of petrol in it!!!!! Does that sound right? Cheers guys

  5. Ok, update on the bike!!! Went to start it this morning to tinker and see what happened leaving choke on and it wouldnt start. After kicking and kicking it it did start but proceded to run on revs but with massive amounts of smoke. Then oil out of exhaust and on floor under bike coming from left hand casing. I'm assuming crank oil seals gone, but can someone just confirm this? Also, how much work is it to rebuild the engine on one of these. I have never opened up a engine before!!!!! How much around about would I be looking for parts wise? Would I be better off ebaying it under spares and repairs!!!!!! Any info help would be appreciated.
  6. Hi, having problems with the tick over and running of our ty80. The bike won't tick over properly. The revs seem all over the place on tick over, itll start reving itself up or just die. When you twist the throttle and then let it go sometimes the revs take ages to drop back down. This also happens when riding it. When driving around the field, after 5 min it also bogs and then cuts out. It then wont start even with choke on. You have to wait for 5/10 min then for it start again!!! I've done all the normal things like cleaning the air filter, taken the carb apart and blown everything through and cleaned it. Also checked the float level and that's fine. The bike runs best with the pilot screw in fully, but trying to get a nice tick over with the other screw is impossible. The smallest adjustment either way either revs the nuts of it or kills it!!!! Just at a loss where to go from here. Any help would be brilliant.
  7. Hi, just purchased a 1975 ty80 as a christmas present for my girlfriends boy and also as a little project for me!!! The bike runs well but there are a few issues and needs some advice 1. the kick start has started to move on the splines of the kick start shaft. It just about grips but can only see it getting worse. How much work is it to change the kick start shaft on the bike? Ive never 'got' into an engine before so complete newby to this. Is it an easy job of just dropping the oil, laying the bike down, taking the case off and replacing the shaft and seals. Or will i have to remove the engine from the bike and completly dismantle the engine? Another option i thought was to liquid weld the kick start on for now and then look at it after xmas when i have more time. 2. The rubber hose between the carb and airbox to me seems to be about an inch too short and just, well barely, catches on the carb and airbox. Is this a common problem or can you by a longer hose, or will i just have to modify it. In my opinion i would like to see it sitting about 20mm over both the carb and airbox. Any help would be greatly appretiated.
  8. It'll be good in the tight stuff just not sure what it'll be like on the hill climbs with my weight!!!!!
  9. Hi, just wondering if anyone can help. Going to pick up a ty80 next week with my truck. I've got a Dave cooper 4x4 rack that I use to transport my trials bike around and was wondering if a ty80 would fit it?
  10. Im looking to get my girlfreinds boy a trials bike as hes been showing an interest in my bike. Ive got a tight budget of £500 and the only option for that money as far as i can see is the TY. Dont really want to spend tomuch more until iknow he is properly keen and will pursue it. Will this bike be a good start bike for a 9 year old or will it be to small is my main question? Hes never riden a bike with a clutch before. Hes about a average height for his age but is on the heavy side!!! Any input would be good.
  11. Its with great regret that we have unfortunatly had to cancel the Wye valley trial at bowely this Sunday due to the amount of rain weve had this week. Having been up there yesterday to look around the venue the field is far to wet for parking, and the river is in flood making some of the sections inaccessable. We dont want to upset any landowners by ripping up there ground so we decided to cancel it. Mal
  12. Yeah you'll be fine as long as youve got it taxed, insured, number plate on the the back.
  13. If you use washing up liquid make sure you wash as much of it off after using it as it will corrode your wheel over time. Better to use proper tyre soap.
  14. hi, ive just passed my bike test and asked my instructor about this. With just a CBT you can drive a bike equal to or under 33BHP but it has to also be 125cc or under. Its a shame trial bikes cant be ridden on a CBT though, as its cost me just over
  15. I totally agree, it is just a big 2 page advert saying buy this as it has these good points about it. Atleast with these sites you get genuine riders telling you there good and bad experiences. Still really like the whole design of the Sherco andvdef the look of the 2011 model so can't wait to bag a ride on one this weekend....hopefully!!!!
