  1. I have had the pleasure, and in a small grouop of people that have ridden the SSDT in excess of 20 Times Over the years I have also had the pleasure of riding close even next to some good riders, but we a re talking about the Lampkins One year I was close to John, of all the riders in Scotland, and a lot of you know what I am talking about, he is a pleasure to watch. He rides so slow picking his line to perfection, its a policy I and many have tried to adopt, but he is definately the master. I know John will miss Scotland, but his knee is more important. Next is Dougie, it happened to be the year he dropped 3 marks, again I was close to him occassinally One of his marks he dropped was at the top section at Ba House right at the begining, did I feel good when I cleaned it That particular year they sent us across the mother of all bogs, my bike was well and truely stuck. Dougie came past me skipping across the tufts, shouting "Are you OK" ......"Fine just a bit stuck" I replied. Well this bog was a few hunderd yards which disapeared into the distance, a few minutes later, who should be running back, but Dougie we got my bike out and he disapeared again into the distance skipping across the tufts........I didn't think my bike was capable of doing that. Dougie then parked it on at the end, a quick "Thumbs Up" and got on his way. Finally Martin, it was the year he rode the Honda RTL 250, really funny all week, but the best was at "Stob Coire Eirghe". Clubman rider got all out of sorts, arms legs everywhere, next a big handfull, bike flips and disapears out of the section back down towards the Mamore Road. The poor clubman was winded and dazed, and Martin and a few of us were walking the section, what should have happened was that we should have collected his bike and assisted the rider....................... However as soon as the dust settled Martin said "well I don't know about you, but I'm not taking that bloody line" even through the riders pain he managed a laugh A pleasure to ride the SSDT, roll on 2005, and a pleasure to ride with some of the best......... Especially the "LAMPKINS"
  2. Carlos, Do not worry about a little bit of oil in your tank of the Mont 4T, it may smoke a little but still run Now the rest on the 2 strokes in the field, neat petrol does not make the bike run too clever I know the person very, very well who organises the refueling and he is well aware that there is going to be a significent amount of 4 strokes in the trial. There will be both neat and 2 stroke mix at each check. I will make sure that I get the correct fuel in my bike at each petrol check, and not rely on the re-fuelers to guess whether I am riding a 2 stroke or a 4 stroke, I am sure the majority will do the same The Army have done and will do an excellent job up there, the stories of incorrect mixture, water in the fuel etc. etc. only happen to half a dozen people. Strange really when it is mixed 10,000 plus litres and then this same mix is given to every rider. If the mix was bad or there were vast amounts of water in there, then the half a dozen people would increase to exactly 270 !!!!!!!!!
  3. Ishy The first I heard about this meeting was about a week ago, I am an Ex Pat from Yorkshire now living in Coventry (Where have all the Rocks Gone !!!!). Coventry is about 15 miles from ACU HQ at Rugby, I am riding the Yorkshire 2 day trial that particular weekend, as I would have gladly attended. My point is though, the meeting was not well advertised and very little notice given to submit names, if indeed that is what should be done. No wonder it was cancelled. Is this bad or good planning on behalf of the ACU or am I reading too much into this.
  4. Ah Yes the man at A & S Trialsport the same one that rode his bike illegally at last yaer at the Yorkshire 2 Day trial. This action may have cost us the use of the land. Still you seem to be cast from the same mould. Thats the "WHO GIVE A TOSS MOULD" Wake up too your self DISC, NICK
  5. Well said Ishy, maybe keep my helpful suggestions to myself
  6. So you eliminate it from your poll because you thik it is Horrible !!!! I was going to bring up the very point that it was eliminated but "Ishy" beat me to it. Anyway it seems that Beta is striding ahead, certainly was a popular bike last year.
  7. Disc you seem to get the wrong idea about trials and trials bikes. Riding at Carltons (Which I Know very Well) or any other area in the dark will only lead to more broken parts, not necessarally on your bike So you do not need lights, most people take their lights off, if not fully they at least get rid of the loom, because it is a pain in the backside, and gets in the way. My advice is rather than riding around in the dark, you would be far better channeling your time and energy at home in the garage sorting out all the other things wrong with your bike So the conclusion is that you don't need to put the lights on and you don't need to get them working As Landrover said the club obviously do not want you practising at Charltons in the dark, and they are trying to take every precaution possible, to stop this.

    Beta2005

    2004 Prices were roughly 250
  9. Thats really important................not
  10. Several years!! I sure don't want to be in a queue near you at the local trial. I suppose it is one way of getting to the front Hey "copemech" you sure must look a picture at your local swimming baths striding out in your "SPEEDO'S" sporting your stinking "NZI". You think this helps, personally I think you need to seek help !! I have had 2 NZI's, good helmets, but non removable lining is a problem, tried the bath routine, left it soaking etc. none relly work solve the problem short term, but not long term Now bought myself a "PREMIER" helmet, so I can take the lining out, only worn it twice so cannot be the judge, yet of whether a good idea or not but bought it on recommendation. So Mr MotoMax treat yourelf to a new helmet, that might even double up as a bathing cap !!!!!
  11. Yes nice shirt, and well done FUJI. Let him relish the moment, but with a performance like that from our Doug, I bet he is wondering what '05 will bring. My guess is that DL will come back with avengence next year, especially on the 4T. Eddy Lejune did pretty good on one Roll on 2005
  12. Got the plastic ones to ride/protect bike at SSDT, did an excellent job and still on now looking slightly scuffed, but at least the forks are as good as new. Naff, only in your opinion, both do the same job i.e protect your forks Plastic ones cheap, Carbon ones OUCH !!!! The carbon ones will not make you ride the bike better Feetup Trialsport speak to Allen 01723 865 577
  13. Is it just me or does anyone else hate the black engine. Maybe its a sales ploy so eveyone will buy the 4T, unless they are thiking making that black aswell
  14. I got the DVD, Yep you are right Kinell it does speed up and slow down, thought there was something wrong with your bike at Leanachan Forest Got mine from Feetup Trialsport

    Info Needed

Does this mean we have to call you "Beta Pete" now Got a 270 never missed a beat. Did SSDT, but prevention is always best so carried a Stator Plate and mag Puller. Never needed it All bikes have niggling problems the "Jungle Drums" start beating and a niggle turns into a Major Problem. This does not mean that the bike is C**p A change of bike is aways good at least you feel like the new kid on the block for 2 trials at least
  16. Called a Beta Alp 400. Definately a Beta and not a Suzuki or is a Scorpa a Yamaha !!! Trail bike and road legal

    What Went Wrong

Brave statement "GROUCHO" Let us clubman not pussy foot around, and lets make it harder!!! Don't think so, constructive critisism is good, I have ridden it 22 times this year was hard, and COC has asked for feed back, which we have done, and I am sure Mark will take on board. Yes the event does hold international status, but is geared towards the majority, which is the clubman. If these clubman want to take photo's, so be it, 10 per day maybe 10 minutes. Scratching for time most days I am pretty sure a few photo's won't be a problem time wise. Moaning Mmmmmmmmmmmmmm!!!!! maybe not !!!!!
  18. No it wasn't Andy, as I did have a word with them aswell. "Aye wer'e local lads ride here all the time" YEAH RIGHT !!!!! Still tried to do my bit to protect the future of the trial !!
  19. A Number plate does not stop people riding the course, after my brother was hit head on by a young lad and his Dad on the track down from pipline on Monday, which could have quite easily have put him out of the event, I had several conversations without getting to irate with spectators riding bikes on the course. Expalining to them that not only is it dangerous, the fact that we could loose the land, they are not covered by the ACU etc. etc. fell on deaf ears!! You would not beleive where people get to, we even saw somone 2 up on a Beta Alp on the track across to kinlochleven, god knows how they got there it was hard enough on a trials bike !!! Bottom line is number, no number they will still ride the course. Again the club do an excellent job, bar putting officials all over the course it will carry on. So maybe it is up to the riders who know who some of these people are, report them for the sake of the SSDT.
  20. As per the rules you are can only be excluded once, you must then present your bike(I read this as the one that was origianally scrutinered) at 0730Hrs the next morning to be re-scruitinered and then allowed to continue at your given start time. Starting on the 6 different days with 6 different bikes, I don't think so !!!!
  21. The point about allowing excluded riders to continue under a no award basis, JD has a valid point about this particular rider could go at their own pace and hold up another rider especially if they were scratching for time !! Firstly the event and timings(which no doubt will get reviewed), is set up for 280ish riders. Mr No Award would not hinder that much that it would affect another rider. Secondly, the clubman which make up the bulk of the entry spend a lot of money to ride this event, entry, fuel, tyres, spares, accommodation etc. in excess of
  22. Mr Sherco importer was doing a pretty good job on Ben Nevis !!!!

    What Went Wrong

I think most who have posted, will keep supporting the event, and will be back next year. Mark in his first year as COC did a good job, I talked to a lot of riders up there both clubman and sponsored riders thought it was probably one of the hardest years. Mark, I feel will appretiate constructive critisism on how to polish what is already an excellent event. Who cuts corners here and there, or who moves rocks to benefit a better line, this happens at club level through to the World Championships, indeed chuck the buggers out is my opinion, but that is not what we are talking about!!!!!!!! Another couple of points from this years trial, is that a lot of riders found some of the sections longer and narrower leaving you only the one line to attempt. This increased most peoples scores from last year, as I say just a point. The moor crossings were hard this year due to them being wetter, unfortunately Mark cannot do anything about this unless he is "GOD" Weather was better, as Ishy said new sections were good and we will all be filling out our entry forms for next year, so is there a real problem ????????????????
