    Lessons Learned

Kinell, Back in the 80's we used to strap everything to our bikes, Tube, Spanners, tape wrapped round everywhere......we all thought this was great. The only problem is that for 51 weeks you ride your bike without all this stuff then all of a sudden your bike is burdened with all this stuff I am no expert, but the stuff strapped to your bike does not help. In the 90's some silly bugger came into Park Ferme with a rucksack on his back ..................We all soon followed suit Its a camel pack rucksack for me, Spanners, Dog Poo, Pump, A Bit of fuel [never used it] and Drink. It leaves the bike like I ride it all year...........................C**P

    Rt 4 Ristrictors

Not many Pre 65 trials in the callender year, compared to modern trials Timp; Your right the sport may eventually suffer. I have read all the articles on the forums about restrictors in or out, but to add my view. Trial at Bracken Rocks last weekend 1 x 4RT ticking over in the queue......Just like a Singer sewing machine. Opened it up to scale the hill climb...............the bike could be heard in Matlock Actually spoke to the chap at the next section, commenting on how LOUD it was..........''and thats with the restrictors in, you want to hear it when there out'' He actually was concerned about the noise level, the bike actually ran better with them out, but concerned about our sport he has put them back in to keep the noise level down a bit. The bike might run not as well, but it is some way of preserving our sport ..Good on him...............But how long is it before we loose our first bit of land to exesive noise??????? Jumbo Jets, make noise.........They also make loads of money for HM coffers and mostly we as a nation accept this A few trials bikes in a wood on a Sunday [especially on 4 strokes]............No real money, and some ramblers association will be kicking up a right stink I am not agianst 4 strokes, I am just highlighting a problem.

So they can get the Sunday roast on and do some ironing
  17. Spot on ishy would not miss it for the world!! You are right, and yes a laptop would not help too much out on the moors in the sleet and snow All I am thinking is if Icame in park ferme with my bike running like a bag of spanners, I with the "guidence" maybe from a mechanic, could work on it to get it fixed The guy with the same problem on the Mont whatever it may be, yes the electics may be the best, yes the water may be kept out, but this is the SSDT and every possible thing that you have prepared for could easily go wrong by the time you get to the first section. So the guy who has the problem on the Mont needs a self diagnostic from from the laptop All I am saying is that it is easy enough handing me a spanner and saying undo this and tighten that, but are they willing to hand over their laptop and even with help are they giong to be able to carry it out Can't wait till May

Brave statement PHYSCO, tell me have you any mates Pussies sometimes sit on the fence........I won't so my perspective on this is that, there are women who are capable of doing the SSDT and there are women that are clearly not !!! Let me explain. I have helped drag many a woman out of a bog on "Ranoch Moor" etc. etc. Equally there have been woman that have sailed past me on "Ranoch Moor" (They do have 20years on me!!!) My point is the women at the top of their game are capable of riding competatively for the full 6 days, and the others that are doing it to boost their female ego in a male dominated sport. These women know who they are in both catergories........so to those that can Well Done to the others ...don't bother it is harder than you think Just for the record PHYSCO......SCOTT TRIAL 0, SCOTTISH....Just a few times
  19. Not to stir up a hornets nest,...................But anyone riding the new Montesa 4RT in Scotland next year, here's a thought. As well publisised the rider cannot mess around with the "Fuel Injection System" as once hooked up to a laptop computer this will point a dirty great finger at you So if there is a slight problem then a trip to the the mechanics from the factory inside the tent is called for. This is out of the riders control as the only way to sort out the problem will be for the computer buff to sort it!! As rules state only the rider is to work on thye machine............. SO THIS WILL BE OUTSIDE ASSISTANCE !!........I know people are going to anwer on this thread that this goes on all the time.............and people ride several bikes, etc, etc. The point I am trying to make is that "Joe 2 stroke" can 99% of the time, sort a problem out without the aid of a laptop, which requires only, I repeat only a qualified mechanic to operate This is a problem, or do the rules have to be adjusted for modern technology. Any thoughts????? Should be interesting
  20. Nothing personal, just facts BIG JOHN has mentioned about Quad Bikes etc. at local trials and I have seen Enduro bikes across the moors in Yorkshire, you will not stop these, they are not there following the event. They just happen to stumble on it when they reach a section What I and many others are getting at is the bikes that are deliberately following the trial on their bikes or using the ground to ride their bikes when they know damn well there is an event on, these are the people that it will be easier to stop than the ones above. All I am saying for the sake of the LAND, THE SPORT, THE COMPETITORS it is only right that these people (who obviously don't give a s**t about who they upset) are stopped !!!!!
  21. Yeh Right oh "trialscot". I am not a man for fighting talk, but there are a few of us that they would be a bit reluctant to say "P*** Off" to Another perspective on this and I posted a message about this on the SSDT forum, at this years event my brother collided with a rider coming when we were coming down the track into Kinlochleven, with an illegal rider coming the opposite way going like stink. This nearly put him out of the event, which costs a clubman rider in excess of
  22. I think the lad on the hill is going to pounce on him and nick his sweets I was going to say "Jump Him" but you lot would take that the wrong way
